I've only ever been to a Charleys location at the Brea mall so I was pleasantly surprised to figure out there was one even closer to me in Anaheim. After coming here a multiple times now I can tell you that I've never had a bad experience here. The food here has the best bang for your buck, they have a ton of deals for anyone to enjoy. The employees here are great as well, they're always friendly and I naturally find myself having a conversation with them. One employee who's stood out to me is Jesus, always super friendly and makes sure my order comes out quick and accurately. He offers great customer service and you can tell he just wants to do the best job he can. Whatever he's getting paid, it's not enough! When you walk into Charley's Cheesesteaks you're greeted by a large sign proudly proclaiming the origins of this nearly forty year old company. Apparently Charley got lost in the City of Brotherly Love, savored his first Philly Cheesesteak, then found his life's mission. Like the eponymous Charley, your favorite Yelp correspondent has enjoyed Philly style cheesesteaks for (over) forty years. Philly's Best and the Bronx Deli are probably the best local practitioners of the Cheesesteak Arts, but today's maiden visit to Charley's tells me that Charley...ain't no slouch. While Charley's sells a range of varieties incl chicken cheesesteaks, bacon and 3 cheese, etc, it's always advisable to order the house specialty on a first time visit. The Charley's Philly Cheesesteak is pretty good, featuring thinly sliced steak hand-griddled on the flat-top with onions, green peppers and cozy, gooey melted provolone. The only proviso that keeps me from awarding it five stars? You gotta griddle the onions and peppers a bit longer in order to develop the caramelized effect that is the piece d'resistance of any great sando! The bread is Philly style Italian rolls but could benefit from being toasted a bit longer in order to give the sandwich a bit better textural counterpoint to the awesome unctuous, beefy flavor of the thinly grilled steak & peppers. For a place that utilizes steak fries, normally my personal bane of all fries, Charley's did a serviceable job with 'em. They're fried to a nice crisp, well covered with a drizzle of seasoned salt and pair beautifully with the house-made fry sauce. I'd give this branch three stars for cleanliness- Some of the counter tops could've used a polish and spots on the floor with sticky with what I suspect is spilled soda. Note: This Anaheim branch gets 3.4 Yelp Stars on a few hundred reviews..which is "not bad" by the standards of fast casual food. Recall- Most folks aren't gonna take the time to review a susub-$20 meal unless it was wonky. Today's meal set me back $19.41 for a large Philly chesssteak upgraded to a combo with regular size fries and regular size fountain drink. Certainly nothing to write home about. The bathroom was very clean by fast food standards. Overall, I'd accord Charley's the low end of four stars and I will most certainly visit the branch in San Dimas, the closest one to my home. read more

This is the only Charley's in the area and as a local I love coming. I always noticed how hot it was in here and usually took my order to go because of it. Today I was craving it and stopped by. Surprisingly it was nice and fresh inside ! I placed my order for a small chicken California added grilled jalapeños and was offered the deal which Includes fries, yum. This location has "fries sauce" the mall location doesn't. The food was delicious as always, but what made me right a review today rather than any other time I've been here, JESUS. I hope the owner, manager, supervisor and colleagues see this. JESUS made this experience amazing. He was so polite and kind, not only to me, but all others . This place got "weird" during Covid and I guess decided to stay weird. The inside air conditioning hasn't worked for years, the furniture is arranged like they are going out of business, the windows all reflective and blinds so you can't see in and barely out. I have not been to Charley's (This location) in about 2 months. I was shocked to see the pricing surged across the board by 30%. Despite the egregious spike in pricing I decided to order anyway (I was eating there). We always split a large sandwich combo and order an additional drink. The total was $28.00, WOW just WOW. Well you know the world has changed and I get that all businesses want to continue to make the same profits they always have but gouging has limits. Upon receiving the food I could not have been more disappointed, not only did the price spike but they also added significant "Shrinkflation" to the food as a whole. Much less meat, nearly no cheese and now NO pickle slice at all. Needless to say, this is my last visit to Charley's, I can handle some pricing changes but the value has diminished so much that I can go elsewhere for less and get a much better return for my hard earned $$....It was nice while it lasted Charley's. read more

I love Charlie's and it was unfortunate to see every employee in here not taking proper measures. The girl was wearing her mask on her chin when I walked in and later used her gloved hand to move it up over her mouth and proceeded in cooking an order. In this picture you can see both cooks wearing their masks incorrectly under their nose. A third employee was observed in the back room with no mask at all until he stepped out to the front and placed it on his face and gloved up without washing hands first. If the establishment requires customers to wear masks, the employees should be setting the example. The food is amazing but it was certainly questionable this day. Decent cheesesteak joint, but definitely not the best. I ordered a regular Philly cheesesteak ($7.39) which measures 9". Make sure you know what "everything on it" means because they include items that are not found on a classic Philly cheesesteak such as tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo. I'm used to the traditional cuts of steak, provolone, grilled bell peppers, and grilled onions. Upon receiving my order, I thought the portion size is very small for the price they charge. They cut the sandwich in half and fit it into a fries box. The cheesesteak lacks depth in terms of amount of steak given. The bread is soft and easy to bite into. The steak requires a bit of chew, which is unusual compared to the tender slices of steak I've eaten in the past. The steak was also a bit salty. The grilled onions and peppers were delicious and the tomato was actually pretty good in a cheesesteak. I just wish they also grilled the tomato too. The melted cheese is nothing to write home about since it lacked flavor and wasn't fully incorporated into the ingredients to make it cheesy and melted like a typical cheesesteak. Overall, I don't think this Philly cheesesteak is well valued for almost $8 since I could go get a larger sized sandwich at Subway down the street. read more

I gave this zero stars. I ordered online 1 1/2 hours prior to the scheduled delivery. I received both an email and a text confirming the order. suddenly I received notice that the order was canceled because the "driver could not finish the delivery." After calling 6 times I was able to get through to the Lodi NL location and the person answering the phone had no ability to intelligently communicate. I tried calling the corporate office customer support but received a recorded message that the are moving and can't answer calls. Hopefully I will receive a credit to my credit card. After reading Lauren G.'s review I immediately bookmarked since it's close to my work. Today my friend and I headed on over to check out the place. Before you walk in the door you're exposed to giant color photos of different menu items hanging in the windows and upon entering you see many more color photos of delicious looking sandwiches. The place is sparkling clean with super friendly employees and a nice variety of menu choices. I was going to try the buffalo chicken sandwich until I saw the huge banner hanging over the entrance saying "New Spicy Asian BBQ Beef sandwich!" Damn, that looks so frickin good!!! It comes with beef, provolone, and grilled onions. I also saw a sign saying "Add grilled jalapenos to any sandwich for free!" Hell yeah! Sign me up for that! They dice them up really small so you get fiery bites all throughout the sandwich. Not sure what's "Asian" about the BBQ sauce but it had a great flavor without overpowering the other ingredients. You could still taste everything, it wasn't just sauce flavored. The beef was tender and the bread was soft. I really thought it was a great tasting sandwich. My only complain was the bottom of the bread was really soggy from the sauce but at least it held together. The fries here are were a nice surprise. They were golden brown with the skins still on and fresh right out of the fryer. Not a soggy fry in sight. They were served in a rather large cup and tasted great, much better than most fast food french fries I've had. I highly recommend! Very good and reasonably priced. Sandwich, fries, and drink were $8.35. They have the hot sandwiches with beef, chicken, or turkey with different sauces and topping you can add. They also have deli style sandwiches. I really do love this place! Their grilled subs are delicious (both the Philly's and the chicken subs)! Chicken California is my favorite sandwich and I've had it on the regular white bread and the wheat wrap, both fantastic! The ingredients in the sandwich are all fresh and I love that the meat is thinly sliced. Only thing I would change is frying the fries a little longer. A couple times the fries seemed too soft/soggy. They have a stamp card so, every 7 sandwiches you buy, the 8th one is free. The customer service is great, too. read more

I always try food the way they made it on my 1st Visit. I had the Philly cheese steak. It comes with lettuce and tomatoes. It's the 1st philly cheese steak sandwich I've had with these topping. I had previously done an online order here and everything was truly amazing. Yesterday I went in with my family of six to have dinner and our food was delicious as always but when we were being handed our food Jesus was letting us know of all the sauces they had available. He checked on us twice during our dinner to make sure everything was tasting ok and to ask if we needed more sauces or chilis. He made our experience the best ever.
