This place has been a staple of this neighborhood for decades and the breakfast burritos take me back to SO MANY memories from High School! My favorite thing about Paul's Place is their Onion Rings - Perfectly battered and fried. They are Thin, Crispy and the Batter to Onion ratio makes them the best Onion Rings ever! BEST ONION RINGS EVER! Their onion rings are massive, crispy (and stay crispy even when cold), and the onion doesn't slip out as soon as a bite is taken. I get a turkey burger with wheat buns, onion rings, and a side of their house made ranch and I'm set. This combination never gets old. The staff here is kind and don't bother you while you're eating, are good with using a lot of coins for payment, and clean fast. Enjoyed the service, ingredients were plenty, but my burger lacked a little something. We were driving back to San Diego and made the random stop. First, this place has a great little diner/burger joint feel. Plenty of booths to sit at, and an outside patio. I ordered the burger with bacon and avocado. I loved that it had a real, thick cut bacon. There was also plenty of avocado. My only critique was that the beef itself tasted plain. Added a little salt and problem solved. We ordered kid chicken tenders, which came in a nice "happy meal" style bag. I enjoyed that the tenders were mostly chicken, not just breaded with a small bit of "white meat". Also got a hot dog which tasted like it just came off a BBQ grill. They also serve breakfast and Mexican food, so this place has a little for everyone. This place sucks I came in here been coming here for years. I asked for a simple order to have my fries sauce asked them twice not only did they give the wrong order. They double cooked these suckers and then I went up to the counter nicely and then she said our fries are like that while her henchman in the back looked at me like I was robbing the place if I were you guys I would freaking go next-door Wienerschnitzel and they suck but they're better than these guys. I order the club sandwich with some fried mushrooms. As soon as I got home about ten minutes later and started to take a bite. The bread on one of the parts of the club was so hard, it was like a crouton. I called the restaurant to complain about this. All I got was sorry on the phone. And then about 20 seconds of silence to where I then asked, so what can we do about this? The answer I got was well if you already eaten the Sandwich, there's nothing we can do about it. So I called spoke to the manager Eva explained it to her. She's had just bring it back where we make it for you. I declined, decided to get my refund. There was no sincere apology or concern from the 1st person who answered the phone . If you're gonna have somebody answer the phone, when a customer calls, they should know what to do when they are dissatisfied. And if they can't handle it, they should know when to pass it off. Not good customer service. And I go to this place once a month and never have a problem. But I think I'm done going to this place for now..Customer service is a big deal. Today at 10:15ish I went thru the drive thru, there were zero cars in the parking lot and two cars ahead of me. But as someone that "needs" a spicy hot sauce when consuming Mexican food, I was disappointed that my requested spicy sauces were met with La Victoria-esque mild chunky salsa. In fact, burrito and tacos of any kind are not good enough if paired with mediocre salsa. I'd rank hot salsas of King Taco or even 'Berto's family chains high among spicy sauce fanatics. We stopped in on the way to a show and got a colossal burger and a blue cheese bacon burger. First time ever seeing a bacon blue burger at a charbroiler, so I had to try it. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The pastrami was nice amd juicy without being soggy, the bacon was perfectly crisped and paired great with the blue cheese crumbles. We came in around 5 for dinner since we were in the area. It was empty and they had plenty of seats inside and outside. The restaurant is very clean. The workers weren't very friendly and didn't greet us until we asked them a question about the menu. The gyro lamb meat was over cooked and dry. They use to be way bigger and shrunk. The flavor was good but wished that the meat wasn't burnt. The fries were also over cooked and burnt. The carne asada in the taco was good as always and had great flavor. The fish in the taco was cooked well and had great flavor but was very small pieces. I was really disappointed in the gyro as it was one of my favorites from them. I guess I will have to eat something else off their menu now. They also use to have the horchata and orange bang bang machine as their refillable drinks but that's gone. I went to the front to keep checking as they were calling random numbers. I saw my food just sitting, but i guess the fries were not ready yet. My husband and I grabbed some dinner from this location of Paul's Place and it was delicious! We ordered the: double bacon cheese burger (plain) combo, Jr. Cheese burger, onion rings and chili cheese fries with onions on top. I got the jr. cheese burger and it was not small at all! The size was about the size of an in n out burger and I was expecting it to be more of a slider. The patty was flavorful and the burger sauce it comes with was tasty! Well my first experience at Paul's 17$ for a single cheeseburger that's cardboard thin .....the car in front of me had a very large order so I sat behind them for like 25 minutes waiting to get my food which sat on the counter the whole time I was waiting for them to get their food probably burned off like 5$ worth of gas sitting there while their staff isn't trained to tell the party with the large order to park out front so they can bring it to them so not only the person behind them isn't getting cold food like I did but the drive thru line doesn't stack up as bad in the front idk I just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to check out the place since I drive by it almost everyday and my first impression is bad the burger is over priced for what it is 17$ for a single patty meal is taxed especially if the patty is thin you can drive up the street to fat burger and get a large fat for 21$ and it will not only be more food and protein but you won't have to wait in a ridiculous line and the food is fresher the service was aite I personally wouldn't be a returning customer especially at 17$ for a single, if it was more reasonable at like 14-15$ I'd probably eat there a fhew times a month at least but due to the price and quality it doesn't match up sorry guys do better. read more

I finally tried Paul's Place after living in North OC for 14 years. I must say, it was quite tasty. My grandpa ordered the cheese omelet and enjoyed it. My husband ordered the double cheeseburger combo and also enjoyed it. Burger was delicious, and the fries were hot and crispy. I had the veggie burger (garden burger), which was amazing! I'd definitely order it again. The service was quick, and the ambiance had beautiful Christmas decor. You almost forgot you were at a burger joint with the lovely decor.
