It was the way he said as if he didn't want to be there. I got to the window, he reached for my card without telling me my total. I asked for my total which was legit and passed him my card. His demeanor was off and annoyed me very much. He handed my food side ways through the window. It took everything to in me not to toss him my food back demanding a refund. I was hungry because I didn't eat anything while working my butt off yestersay. I drove off, opened the box and sure enough all of my food was on one side because of how he gave me my foof. Again, it took all I had in me not to go inside, complain and demand a refund. I had to eat. Ole boy needs a reality check. He had brown and blonde dreads. Stopped in late (915pm) for a meal with my son after baseball practice. We were forced to use the drive through bc the dining room was closed. Drive through moved pretty efficiently given the fact that most of the orders are grilled when you order. We ordered a steak Philly cheesesteak (shaved steak with peppers, onions, mushrooms, provolone plus lettuce tomato and mayo) and an old school Philly cheesesteak (steak, onion and cheez whiz). Both were made combos with fries and drink. Sandwiches come in three sizes. We waited for a while at the checkout window bc they were still making our food. The person who took my order clarified that I wanted everything on my sandwich and I said yes. When I got it home, I learned that there were no tomatoes on my sandwich. Funny thing, I just read my wife's review and I think we ate food from two different places. I was the one who ventured out to get dinner. As with most new places, there was a lot of foot and drive-thru line traffic. I had such fond memories of eating Charley's at Annapolis Mall in Maryland so I wasn't going to let that deter me from getting a cheesesteak. I digress --- While waiting in the drive-thru line I noticed a sign for $5 off if I downloaded the app, so I did. I made my order and I'll say because it was busy and loud I'm going to assume the drive-thru person didn't hear me order two #1 meals with fries and overly sweet blueberry lemonade and a peach lemonade. When I got to the window the app hadn't loaded the $5 off coupon, but the manager did offer to allow me to use it without it being loaded. I declined, paid and took the order home. Once home, we pulled out the food and there was only one order of fries. I reviewed the receipt and as I said earlier, the person in the drive-thru must not have heard me order the second meal, only the sub. This was our first time trying this franchise. We really love a good philly. This place is located in the old Krystals building on San Jose. It has a really fresh feel to the place with a contemporary farmhouse design. The food was pretty good as well. We tried the original philly, Buffalo Wings & the kids had tenders. The philly was not as greasy as I've come to expect, but the lettuce, pickle and tomato gave it a fresh taste. It felt like a clean philly. We also tried the blueberry lemonade, which was good. The wings and tenders were really good as well. Not your typical Philly, but definitely worth giving a try. Maybe next time we should get the Old School. read more

"We are the champions, my friend..." I've never been the first person to review a place before, so this is truly an honor. I'd like to thank my wife for suggesting that we eat here on their grand opening as she's been watching them since they indicated that they were opening a Charley's on San Jose...but I digress. We ordered cheesesteaks, fries and some of their famous fruit lemonade. Cheesesteak | The medium size was very filling. I ordered a sandwich one with provolone, onions, peppers, lettuce, mayo, but the surprise was the pickles. They use butter pickles on their subs, which was a nice contrast for the saltiness of the meat and cheese. They didn't skimp out on the meat, which was nice because some chain places do. Fries | By the time that the food got home, they were cold, but I could sense their potential. That said, for the price of the fries, I expected a little more. Fruit Lemonade | I got the blueberry lemonade. I have to admit, I didn't taste much lemon flavor, but there was a lot of blueberry and it was very sweet - like old school kool-aid with 3 cups of sugar sweet. I'd have to try to original lemonade to determine if that's just how they roll or was the fruit additive causing the DKA-like sweetness. Once I added some sparkling water, it made the drink, drinkable. I'm not a fan of sugary drinks in my older years, so if you're into sweet tea, this may be right up your alley. The pictures and hype brought me here. I wanted to know why people from Philly insist on Cheese Wiz so I ordered the limited time Old School cheese steak. Came with the cheese wiz and sauteed onions. The first bite was great but gotta be honest, I can now say I don't agree with Cheese Wiz on this haha. I'll definitely come back to try it with provolone instead. The fries were more enjoyable as the bacon countered the cheese wiz so it wasn't as "in your face". For around $8 (not including the fries) it was a good amount and filled me up. (Got a small) Worth trying! PS - Just be aware the inside of the building feels like it's 23 degrees Fahrenheit so be prepared if you're not going through the drive thru! read more

They have some really really good blueberry lemonade. I like the app, but takes forever to actually reach the $5 off. You have to spend $100. Highly recommend the Philly cheesesteak one, with extra banana peppers.. they had a coupon for a $1 off a cone for national ice cream day. It was good for 1 month. But then they had a $2 off any wing combo, for wing day, but was only good for that day, and I didn't receive it until 2 that day. So really it was only good for 6 Hours. In the same location as the old Krystal @ the corner of Pall Mall & San Jose. We did drive thru tonight to try them for the first time as we received coupons in the mail. Staff seemed to be efficient, nice & polite which is always nice to see. Sorry but I didn't take any pics of the food will get some next time. We ordered their large Philly Cheesesteaks (had a bogo coupon) we were unable to finish them so there were leftovers. I also ordered a side of bacon cheese fries that I really liked, if you're looking for crispy fries these aren't for you but the cheese sauce & the bacon pieces went really well with the fries so I was happy. I also got a blueberry lemonade which was quite good with actual pieces of blueberry in it making it very tasty. Will definitely be returning to check out the rest of the menu. read more

This is Charleys in the Walmart store Hutchinson Park Drive location. Husband and I ordered the basic, Philly steak sandwich and fries. Nothing that should have taken as long as it did to receive. Apparently it was one persons job to bring the orders up front. While ours DID get delivered, for some reason it was put on the rack for the phone in orders. Nothing was said to the person at the register, who appeared more intent to staring out towards the store, then paying attention as to what was going on around her. After the person who had ordered just after us got her food, my husband went up to the cash register and asked about our food. The girl who had brought it front in the first place, came up and grabbed it off of the phone in orders rack. And promptly made some comment to a fellow employee about the issue. Since it had been sitting there for a granted short period of time, the fries were cold and soggy. And though the sandwich was good, why ruin a perfectly good sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes??? The amount of sandwich for the asking price is outrageous. One final thing, while waiting, observed the employees in the back. More intent on having conversations or scrolling their phones, the latter with the gloves still on. Then he promptly went back to making sandwiches. As a final note, was in the same Walmart waiting for the husband,at a later date, and happened to glance in the back of the same Charleys and noticed that none of the workers had food service gloves on. I had a large Philly cheesesteak, and had high expectations for the promotion of this newly opened place. The cheesesteak was ok as a sandwich goes and they get high marks on the bread and ingredients, though I couldn't even tell there were mushrooms there. Here's the problem, I lived in Philadelphia and this might fly for Arby's, but it is a major failure on the meat. They look like steak umms if you know what those frozen thin sliced steak is sold in the frozen foods supermarket dept. The neat tasted just like it too - reheated. Anyway a real Philly cheesesteak uses ribeye thin-sliced. This is laughable and not comparable on the meat. In summary a good sandwich if you are hungry but no... Also, the provolone was good, but seriously it was just draped on the outside, one or two slices, and barely starting to melt. Folks, this is supposed to be mixed in with the meat in a cheesy mess along with the mushrooms and a bit greasy but not too much. Not peeling off the top of bundles of half-arsed bunched up steak-ums!!! So when you bit the top layer all the cheese is gone and dry bunched up steak um remains. Sorry, but Ivwas suspicious when I saw the menu inside that said, @the meat is 'choice'. Yeah, choice steak-um, sure, but it Ain't ribeye and for the nearly $20 combo this is lucky to get three stars, but back to the basics, the bread and fixings were otherwise tasty. read more

I left a previous not so good review on this location and was replied to by the business owner, whenever this happens i like to give the establishment another try, not because i accepted some compensation because i never replied to the business owner nor do i like the idea of giving free food as compensation. I like to see if the establishment cares enough for people to give them another try and i will happily spend my own money again to see if they're better. Upon trying this location this would be my 3rd time, the first was awful, the second time was ok, but the third time was amazing. I pulled up and was greeted by a friendly staff member who got my order and told me to pull around. As soon as i got around the food was done, packaged up, and ready to go which felt so fast and had me worried. This time i got the old school cheesesteak again which was terrible the first time i had it and i also got my regular bacon 3 cheesesteak. These phillys were perfectly made, not greasy at all, and were sooo good! I don't know if i just got lucky with this third experience but part of me just wants to say that part of the previous bad experiences were due to possibly a rocky start of this locations opening.
