I saw a recent review from a fellow foodie who raved about this place. We made it a date night, and upon arrival, we faced a few challenges. First, parking: almost everywhere you look, there are tow-zone signs. We chose to park about a block away in the neighborhood. Walking in, we encountered a very long line to order. The indoor seating is very limited; there are only two small tables outside on the sidewalk. After reading all the reviews, I found it odd that, while waiting in line and looking at the plates around us, many people were throwing their fries away. That suggests they aren't good, or everything else was so good that they were full. As I looked around, I felt as though I might have been in this store before, when it was a donut shop; things looked quite familiar. The staff was definitely keeping up with the crowd, as this place was packed. We ordered the Hardpressed and the Patty Melts, a side of loaded French fries, an order of onion rings, and finally, a vanilla shake. The chocolate and strawberry flavors were sold out. It was very loud inside, but luckily, an outside table became available. Shortly after grabbing the outside table, our vanilla shake arrived, and it was surprisingly very good. Well, that got my attention and set the stage for what was to come. Some time passed, and our ordered items began to arrive sporadically. The loaded fries looked good, as did both burgers, but we were still missing the onion rings. My wife overheard the table next to us that the onion rings had recently sold out, so the question was, did we get in on time with our order? We dove into the loaded fries and found that the fries appeared freshly cut but didn't hold up well to the toppings; they were quite soggy, nearly mushy. Flavor was OK, and the jalapenos seemed freshly cut. Minor setback, all is still well. As my wife went in on her patty melt, I saw her expression, and she was quite pleased. Up next was their signature Hard Pressed Burger. I went in and was instantly greeted by the crispy texture of those grilled, smashed bits and the grilled bun, followed by the pickle and the remaining condiments. It was a very good first bite. My wife and I traded burgers, and wow, was that patty melt delightful. That crispy, grilled, flavor-filled rye bread stood out and introduced itself again, followed by the crispy tidbits of smashed beef, and that thousand island dressing brought it all together. Once again, another very good first bite. Our onion rings finally arrived and looked amazing. The crisp on the onion rings reminded me of the same texture seen on the fish & chips at Arthur Treacher's or even Long John Silver's. When paired with their Garlic Aioli, you instantly know someone in the kitchen knows their stuff. THAT GARLIC AIOLI!! Salute! At the conclusion of our meals, we were maxed out and needed to walk off our fullness. We headed into the square and concluded our night with some geocaching. Thanks for the great experience, and thanks to all of us foodies out there who bring these hidden gems to light!

Burgers were great! Came out hot and fresh and very tasty. The fries are definitely enough to share between two people and we didn't even finish them. I ate every last bite of my smashburger though! Will definitely come back. The service was nice and prompt. Great location and right next to a little wine store. Very walkable. A bit on the pricier side but worth it to support a local restaurant!

I recently visited this place and asked for a refund. However, they informed me that they couldn't provide a receipt to confirm my request. The burger I ordered was not the best I've had in Jacksonville, and I left feeling unsatisfied and doubtful about the refund. My entire party ended up eating their food because they didn't want to leave hungry. As a result, I won't be returning to this establishment. No ambiance

Burgers are pretty solid. Not the best, but solid. Fries are also good but not great. Service is bare minimum. Just one guy working. Atmosphere is just okay, not great. It was clean but not immaculate. Prices are fair for what you get. The one in Jax Beach seems to be of higher quality.

This was the best smash burger that i've experienced here in Jacksonville, FL. I definitely see why they are #1 recommended. I enjoyed the service and setting and will be back very soon.

Love the blue cheese fondue and how it paired with the fries we did get it on the side and the fires were super hot and crispy.

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. Overall, wonderful experience at the restaurant of the food, service and great interior feeling creating a great ambiance. Definitely will visit again and try out more menu items.

Yesterday was my first visit, and I ordered the Reuben sliders, the regular Reuben, a turkey slider, and the beer cheese soup. Everything was absolutely delicious! I also tried the key lime cookie, and it was so good that I had to go back today for another one. Because my first experience was so great, I returned the very next day to try something different. This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. What truly stood out the most, though, was the service. On my first visit, my waitress--who was also managing--along with another server, were incredibly polite and courteous. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered. I also met the kitchen manager, who was friendly and confident about the dish, and the general manager came out to introduce himself and was very welcoming. This place is a 10 out of 10! I will absolutely be coming back on my next visit to Jacksonville. I love this place! Kesha Bentley #MississippiGirl

There was a decent amount of parking which I was surprised about given the location. The line was to the door when we arrived. The line went pretty quickly, about 5 minutes to get our order taken. Our food took about 15 minutes, during this time, we saw a tray of fries sitting in the window. We were hoping it was not our order as they would be cold by the time our burgers were completed, however they called us and sure enough it was ours. We touched the fries and they were very cold. We told the employee, who knew the issue and they remade the fries. I'm glad they didn't make an issue about it, but also disappointing because the employees thought it was okay to even serve cold fries. The burgers were fantastic.
