My partner and I live by the spot so we go here semi consistently. They have great drinks and overall their food is really good. My biggest complaint, is that for being a taco centric spot and having about 15 different tacos, zero of these are vegetarian options. Even things that are called the potato taco for instance have chorizo in them, and the shrooms taco has meat in it as well. I just think it's a really big mess on their part and I think that they should reconsider adding a couple of vegetarian options to their menu. I'm sure if you ask, they will modify. Place is the same, nice interior and plenty of tables. We were seated right away and was immediately served a complimentary chips and salsa. Light and crispy chips and the salsa has a mild spice, always a great starter. Our orders came out hot and fast. The Barbacoa portion is huge! It comes with rice, beans, pickled onion and a consommé. Yes it tasted like birria, but the flavor is more subtle but tasty and the beef was in chunks, not shredded. Won't give extra small sides of chimichurri. Have to call and practically beg them over the phone to get it. We order from Uber Eats and there's NO way to add it, so we call and ask and every single time they've given it to us for free. This last time I spoke with Abraham on the phone who was arguing with me about adding them to our order and that he would have to charge us $4. It wouldn't be an issue if they hadn't given it to us for free every time in the past. We spend over $65 when we order so $4 is nothing but it's the point of the matter. When I asked to speak to a manager he told me to call back in 10 minutes. So I did and still got no results. After putting in some hot sauce, it tasted better. The pescado was refreshing with the salsa and their special sauce. The sriracha shrimp taco was my favorite! Their shrimp was fried to perfection! The flavors were amazing. You got the softness of the taco, with the crunch, the savory of the sauce, the fresh cabbage...man it was delicious!! As my girlfriend and I was vacationing in Jacksonville, we searched for nearby restaurants on San Jose and found One Night Taco Stand. After looking over the photos on Yelp, my girlfriend and I agreed it looked like it was a must-try. I was so wrong. First of all, I don't know which fast food joint this used to be (my bet is a Burger King), but what they have done to it, was pretty remarkable with the paint and remodeling inside, plus the bar and patio and TVs. So the question is...why am I going to be hard on One Night Taco Stand? How did my experience begin? Not too great because of the abomination of tea made by Lipton from a machine. It was baaaad! I never understand why restaurants, especially in the South, do not fresh brew their tea. Not only does it taste sooo much better, it isn't expensive to make a ton of it, especially how a restaurant is going to charge you $2-3 dollars for it. I am also speculating here but I would think upkeep of a machine would cost more over the long run. Besides the horrid start, it was better after that. The salsa was satisfactory. We ordered the bean dip which was good but seemed like it needed something else to it. I really had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to order. And I chose wrong. I wish I chose a burrito or Taco from their many choices but I asked the waitress for her opinion. Her opinion was the One Night Enchiladas. This came with pulled pork, which was really good as far as taste and tenderness, queso, and onions. But it seemed like it needed something extra. In all, One Nighr Taco Stand has a lot of potential for good Mexican. But I love sweet tea with Mexican food and that was the absolute worst part. Stopped in on a Friday night for dinner with my family and my in-laws who were in from out of town. Upon arrival, our group of seven was seated immediately in the porch area at a large picnic style table with bench seating. Note, if you sit on the porch and the sun is setting you will need sunglasses as there are no sun shades or blinds. From there, things took a steady turn down hill. Service was slow all night, as the server had too many tables. We often had empty glasses and chip baskets. We ordered queso and when it came out, we started to eat and then learned it had a hair in it. Since our server was busy with other tables, I took it to the hostess stand and turned it in. For main courses, my in-laws ordered the steak, chicken and shrimp nachos as well as two surf and turf tacos. My wife ordered two shrimp tacos and my sons ordered a cheesesteak burrito (which comes with fries) and two ground beef soft tacos respectively. My daughter ordered a kids soft taco which comes with rice and beans while I opted for the birria tacos which came with rice and beans. All of the food was well cooked and prepared to order. Note, all those cool pics of people eating birria tacos with their bare hands and dipping them in the broth cup that comes with them is a lie, those jokers are hot (the come out on a fajita style pan). Most of the food came out quickly but they forgot my daughter's meal and when we reminded the server she forgot again. So, I gave my daughter my rice and beans (let's be honest kids aren't gonna eat birria tacos) and proceeded to the hostess stand until the manager was available. Once I spoke with the manager, her order was filled quickly. Upon learning of our plight, the manager took the queso and the kids meal off our bill and gave us two coupons for a free appetizer.
