Texas Steak Express is not very far from the house, so when we pull out of the driveway, we call them and order Two Cheeseburger Specials. On the way out to the car, we grab a couple of Zero Cokes for us to drink. When we arrive at TSE, we only have to wait about 2 minutes for our Cheeseburgers. We eat them in the car outside TSE, with a bed-serving tray sitting between the front seats. They wrap the Cheeseburgers up in foil, in a Styrofoam container, with the toppings in their own sealed container. You just choose the condiments you want, then add the toppings to the Cheeseburger, then begin a feast of a Tastylicious Grilled Half Pound Patty, and you can really taste the grilling. TSE knows how, and they do it well. The one Cheeseburger is enough for my Wife, but I need a little more than that. Back at the house, I will grab something light for me to finish off my dinner. One day, I just might order Two Cheeseburgers for me, but not this Monday. Texas Steak Express has a few restaurants scattered around Texas. So, if you're traveling around Texas, or in San Angelo, stop in on a Monday between 4 & 6 pm. You will be pleasantly surprised by how good their Cheeseburgers are.

Our waitress was friendly, took our order and brought our orange juices quickly. I ordered the Western omelette w/hash browns (potato chunks) & toast and my husband opted for the breakfast burrito and coconut cream pie for desert. My husband seemed to have enjoyed his breakfast more than I mine although he didn't like the pie. My toast was buttery and there was no jelly in sight or our waitress to ask. Also, no salt & pepper or condiments on any of the tables like other restaurants. Perhaps because it's a senior citizen complex they aren't allowed to spice things up. Guessing here, perhaps government subsidized (501C3) so they are able to offer price reduced meals. The place was clean, quiet, ample seating and a nice menu selection. However, it's just not my thing to dine in at a "nursing home environment". I'm happy to see Main Street Cafe is available for those who are wanting cheap meals.
