My Wife isn't feeling well, so I informed her that I will take care of our Dinner for the night. Here is what I have planned. We have tried "Texas Steak Express", which happens to be near us. Didn't really care for their Steaks, due to them being a little on the tough side, but they do have Cheeseburgers. My thought was, it's kind of hard to mess up a Cheeseburger, and we are willing to give them another try. We both LOVE Cheeseburgers, and on Mondays they are 'Half-Price,' and that sounds good to me. So, Monday is taken care of, and I can't wait for that Cheeseburger. It was just about time for our run to Texas Steak Express for those 1/2 pound Cheeseburgers they have on Special every Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Regular price is $11.49, but on Mondays it's only $5.75. They also come with Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles and Mayo, Mustard & Ketchup. Due to this being a Special, they do not come with Lays Potato Chips. Texas Steak Express has no fries, just chips, but they do have a lot on their Menu Board, including Desserts. Anyway, my Wife and I drove over to TSE expecting a lot of people there. We walked in and were the only ones there. Some cars were in the drive-thru picking up their call-in order, but we wanted to place our order inside and pick it up when it's freshly made. Ordered Two Cheeseburger Specials, and the girl said it would be about 25 minutes. The drive-thru is a constant line of cars. About 20 minutes later, they brought out our order in two bags, and we left. Arrived home, opened up the bags, and there was only One Cheeseburger in the bag, with One container of toppings along with the condiments in the other bag. It's also marked in big letters, #25. We are #24. Oops --- I drove back to TSE, walked in, and a lady at the counter stated, "Oh, there he is." I handed her the bag and said, "This is the wrong order." She then said, "Oh, you can keep that. Here is your other Cheeseburger." I was a little stunned. I then said, "But it's cold." She then stated, "Have a nice day", turned around, and left. I mumbled, "So, that's how it is, my, my." This is not good Customer Service. I was hoping for a couple of fresh Cheeseburgers. I left for home, arrived, and my Wife made us a couple of Salads. Opened up the Bags, and these Cheeseburgers are in their own container, carefully wrapped in foil. They are a good size with a nice thick 1/2 pound patty sitting on top of a slice of Cheese. The toppings are in their own container, with a small leaf of Lettuce, four rings of Red Onion, a very thinly sliced Tomato, (you can almost read a newspaper through it), and three nice size Pickles. Not what their picture looks like, but that Patty has a very nice aroma filling the air. I spread condiments and toppings on the Cheeseburger and took my first bite. The 1/2 Pound Patty is not cold, but warm, and the flavor is amazing. You can really tell it's seasoned properly and grilled perfectly. They only do Medium Well and Well Done, nothing else. My Wife and I are both surprised by how tasty this Cheeseburger is, and it's HUGE, a true half-pounder. Just a little disappointed with the amount of toppings they provide. Nancy ate all of her half-pounder, and she normally does not do this. That just shows you how delicious these Cheeseburgers are. They just need to improve their Customer Service. Can't complain too much because the cost is only $5.75 each. That's a Great Deal. And the month of May is National Hamburger Month. Overall, said and done, we will go back and enjoy these Half Pound Cheeseburgers again, but this time, we will eat them in the car when they are Fresh and Hot, right there in the parking lot. I have always enjoyed the choices of food at Steak Express especially the Burgers, every meal I've ordered has been cooked correctly!

Yesterday, Monday, the 19th, I made a phone call to Steak Express around 7:45 PM to place a delivery order for myself and my child. The young lady I spoke with took my order, gave me the total, and assured me it would arrive in an hour. By 9 o'clock, there was still no sign of the food. When I tried to call them back, I discovered they close at 9 PM. This leads me to believe she had no intention of actually delivering the order. We waited for them, and since we don't have a vehicle, it was impossible to get food elsewhere at that late hour. I'm really disappointed. read more

Not what was expected. This is the 3rd-4th time here. My mother in law was ordering. I ordered the "small" steak bits. There is no chance it was worth the price as far as quantity or quality. You can pick up an 8 oz sirloin at Roadhouse for less. Hamburgers looked like frozen Sams Patties. My som wanted chicken nuggets...they were Dino nuggets. Ironically my mother in law had Dino nuggets in the freezer. If we knew we were getting that we would've just microwaved the ones we had instead of them microwaving nuggets for us. All in all you will find better steak/kids food at better price at Texas Roadhouse or a variety of other places. And with food delivery services, that's not even a benefit anymore. read more

I've never encountered a more disrespectful and unprofessional manager in my life. I called to place a family order, making it clear that my daughter and I have severe allergies to tomatoes and lettuce. I asked if it was possible to skip the pre-packaged condiments on our burger and instead get a side of pickles. The employee consulted their manager, who flatly refused. I then requested to speak directly to the manager, explaining our food allergy and asking if we could have pickles separately to avoid cross-contamination. Shockingly, he replied, "No, we don't have a button to charge for that." I was in disbelief. I mentioned that this location had accommodated us before, to which he replied that now he had to report it because it's against their policy. When I asked if it was due to being busy, he said no. Then asked why was he so angry about the situation. He stated bc I already told my employee no and that wasn't enough for you now you want to talk to me. I said it's just a small cup literally 6/8 pickles. He then said in a condescending voice I know you're doing this just for pickles." I reiterated that it was due to allergies, and asked for his general manager's contact information, but he refused, stating why so I could twisting the story up to make him look bad. Frustrated and feeling unsafe about my food preparation, I asked if he wanted my business, to which he indifferently replied, "Honestly, I don't care; it's up to you." I was lazy and didn't want to leave the comfort of my hotel room and so I opted for Steak Express. I wasn't expecting much from a delivery steak restaurant, but I have to say, I enjoyed my meal. I placed my order online (really easy) and then about a half hour later... *knock, knock* (faster than the estimated 45 minutes).. So, I'm going to sound like a real heifer, but this is what I ordered: - 6 oz Ribeye Steak (cooked medium) and Shrimp - steak was seasoned and cooked well, the shrimp were nothing to brag about This came with: - salad - this was "meh".. iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of cabbage & carrot, packet of Hidden Valley Ranch (this was disappointing) - baked potato, loaded (extra $1.29) with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits (real ones), butter - this was good, but come on, how do you mess up a loaded baked potato? - yeast roll with honey butter - this was yummy - Grilled Mushrooms (side order) - this was good, but I could've lived without it - Southern Style Sweet Tea - AMAZING - Colossal NY Cheesecake with Strawberry Topping - still sitting in the fridge I pretty much ate half of everything. The rest is sitting in the fridge and since I hate to waste food, I'll probably be eating the rest for dinner tomorrow (I'm not complaining). Including delivery and tip, the meal came out to a little over $30 bucks. Kinda pricey in my opinion but I'm getting two meals out of it and I still have dessert.. so I guess not so bad. I also need to mention that the food was packed really well and you get a moist wipey thing and fork, knife, napkin, salt, pepper, mint AND toothpick pack - a nice touch. Placed an order for pick up last night, two burgers and two kids corn dogs. Arrived within 15 minutes of the order being placed, got home to eat and the inside of the burgers were cold well cooked but cold! The kids were not really touching the corn dogs and my 9 yr old pointed out that they had yellow/green spots! The kids meal cookies were hard as a rock! Called and asked for the manager he wouldn't say whether or not they reheat these burgers that are suppose to be freshly made. I'm a fairly frequent customer, ordering about twice per month over the past 2 years. I just tried to call in an order first time I ever got a woman answering. I gave my order, then when trying to give my card information to pay she kept transposing number as she read back. After the 4 th time, I asked for someone else to take my card number. She said she was the manager and she couldn't hear when the phone was on speaker and I replied that I was hearing impaired and had to have it on speakers or earbuds. She was rude, impatient and I doubt seriously she was the manager since the same man has been there for the two years I've been ordering. My husband and I ate pickup today at lunch. Got the special, 2 ribeyes, potato , roll, salad. It was the worst two steaks we have eaten in a very long time. Between the two of us, we probably had a 3 oz. steak. Lots of fat and grissle. We ended up just throwing it out. We had not eaten there in a while, but it sure will be a lot longer now. After much lollygagging I saw a flyer for Steak Express in the hotel lobby. I proceeded to order a gangload of food to eat off for the next day and a half...I know it was greedy of me but WHAT-EV-ER! I got the Steak Tips lunch special with a loaded baked potato, honey roll, buttered broccoli, grilled shrimp and grilled onions for my stea and 2 huge chocolate chip cookies.. It was all very good, however the cookies left much to my imagination. I requested my tips medium well and for the most part thats what I got, steak was moist and tender and flavorful. Oh, man, I love this place! This is some killer take-out; it easily rivals the steak you'd get at other sit-down restaurants. Their food is always hot, fresh and delicious. Though they didn't get my steak as rare as I would've liked the first time I ordered from them (in their defense, it'd be pretty hard for anyone, lol), when I mentioned it the second time, it came out perfectly. While entertaining a good friend from out of town (we spent the day drinking like fish), and not wanting to/able to get out and pick up food, we decided to try Steak Express and ordered up some grub. Got some steak tips, a hamburger, baked potato and chicken wings, and while it was definitely convenient to have something other than pizza delivered to the door, I'm not so sure I'd do it again, especially sober. The hamburger was a-ok but nothing amazing. I did appreciate packaging the wet and dry ingredients separately but the meat wasn't especially flavorful so the prep felt wasted. The baked potato was just that, a baked potato wrapped in foil with a packet of sour cream. If the idea of heating an oven, opening the oven, putting a potato in the oven, and waiting 60 minutes near the oven requires too much planning, then I guess the $3.99 price is justifiable. Tips and chicken wings on the other hand were almost inedible. The tips were tough and devoid of flavor. The chicken wings were possibly the worst I've had. I think they cooked them either at too low of a temperature or too quickly because the wings were filled with fat and gooey. I actually ended up putting them in the oven for another 20 minutes in an attempt to 'dry' them a bit. Might try them again but most likely only after drinking a bit before. read more

First time ordering from Steak Express. I ordered online and went to the Monthly Specials section. I purchased: *Steak & Shrimp X2 $24.99 2 - Choice Cut Ribeyes, 2 - 7 Count Skewers of Shrimp, 2 Salads, 2 Baked Potatoes and 2 Rolls. Delivery was about as long as they said it would take. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the food was overall "ok". Everything tasted good, don't get me wrong, but the "Choice Cut Ribeye" was very fatty and had a lot of tendon in it that had to be eaten around...tasted good though Can't really mess up broccoli, a roll, or a potato. I paid extra for the "loaded potato" and received packets of cheese, bacon, and sour cream. I thought it would be premade, but had to assemble it myself. Overall the place isn't too bad. I just think it may be a bit overpriced for what you get. I think this meal combo should have been more like $15, but obviously there are no other steak delivery places to be heard of, so they can charge what they like. Steak Express is the best delivery option around San Angelo. I ordered from this restaurant because two friends of mine had tried it and loved it. I placed my order online, requested a specific delivery time and waited. The one drawback was that the driver was 45 minutes later than I expected, and I think that if you order for your food to be delivered at a specific time and they can't accommodate that, they should give you a courtesy phone call. I was slightly grumpy about this, so I cut the small talk and tipped the delivery guy (who was honestly very nice) and dragged my lazy ass back up to my dorm room. Let me tell you something- I was absolutely shocked at the quality of the food. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was amazing! The meat was so tender yet thoroughly cooked (like I wanted it) and it was so flavorful. I never would expect that kind of quality from a delivery. If you love bacon, which I do, I would STRONGLY advise against ordering their bacon since it's just these silly little bacon circles that barely add flavor to it. I ended up ordering two more burgers on my next delivery. I ordered their shrimp- the seasoning was pretty bland... just some pepper, I think, but I love the fact that they de-vein their shrimp. It represents a clean restaurant that doesn't cut corners, at least in my eyes. My roommate always orders their steak tips and absolutely raves about them. I tasted a piece, and I have to agree. It's delicious! If you get their loaded baked potatoes, just know that it doesn't come prepared. You have to assemble it yourself- most likely have to pop it in the microwave to melt the cheese. We tried out Steak Express on the suggestion of some friends who offered to bring a to-go order to our place. We had the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches (which were huge!) & we also tried the colossal NY cheesecake (wonderful!). The sandwiches were not the best Philly's I've had, but they were OK. The cheesecake was great - but I'm sure it packed a caloric punch I don't want to know about! The offer delivery, so that is convenient and the prices are reasonable. Steak express is an average take out establishment.The food is just average. For some reason they put one small cherry tomato on a mass of lettuce for your salad. The steak is fixed just right. The steaks are either hit or miss. Sometimes FANTASTIC, sometimes over cooked, but always has a good flavor. Their delivery leaves a lot to be desires. I rarely get my food in under and hour. I would find this reasonable if that is the time frame quoted when ordering, but I usually get the 45-55 minutes line. Very disappointed with Steak Express. Ordered medium Sirloin Steak for takeout on 5/11. Got home and it was way undercooked as was the potato. Called and they took my order number and name and said they would replace it when I come back. Went today and the manager Sabrina said there was nothing they could do because of no phone number on file. She was very rude and did absolutely nothing to try and resolve the problem. One of the worst managers I have ever encountered. Said I needed to come back another day and ask someone else. Extremely disappointed with Steak Express! On Sunday, July 29, I ordered sirloin steak, baked potato, buttered broccoli, and cheesecake. Delivery was timely, and order was correctly filled. However, the steak was inedible - filled with gristle, so tough even the non-gristly spots could not be chewed. Baked potato was good; buttered broccoli was good; cheesecake was excellent. Salad greens were so old that they were rubbery and could not be chewed. In summary, if you're looking for a good baked potato, good broccoli, and good cheesecake, Texas Steak Express in San Angelo may be the place for you. The last couple of times we've ordered Steak Express it's been delivery. We know it takes them about 35-40 minutes to deliver to us, but really they have some of the best food in San Angelo (whether or not that's a compliment is debatable). Since we're leaving San Angelo for good next week (thank goodness!), we decided to try them one last time. My husband placed an order online before they opened--as he's done many times before--and selected the food to be delivered at 11am. They open at 10:30 so we expected a bit of a wait, but not as long as we wound up getting. We decided that by 11:15am, we'd call them if the food wasn't here. When the food wasn't there by 11:25am, my husband calls and gets some dimwit on the phone who says, "Uh, yeah?! We open at 10:30. That's why it's late." Okaaaay, our food was now 25 minutes late and if you can't have it ready by a certain time, why have the option to have it delivered at that time? She made zero apologies or even a "let me find out where the driver is and let you know"--nothing! Customer service in this town is lacking for sure. Other times we've ordered Steak Express here we've gone to pick it up (they give you free tea when you do this, FYI). The last time we did, we'd ordered and paid for it online. When we got to the window and the girl said to show our ID (which was left at home by mistake) for her to verify my husband is who he is--even though he had the very card he paid with!--we were annoyed. She insisted she needed this and he asked if he could just cancel the order. She said some BS about being unable to cancel the order because "refunds are routed through Abilene" then saying we'd be charged regardless. We drove the 12 miles back home and back only to be told by a different person that they needed to take a copy of the card we'd paid with (which we had on our first visit) and didn't need the ID we'd just wasted gas to go pick up. Make up your damn minds, Steak Express! And quit holding food ransom. That's stupid. The food (aside from the tiny shrimp they overcharge for) is good, but the service is pretty hit or miss. read more

Usually satisfied with their food but the "LAST" time I ordered from them I was very disappointed. I ordered the T-Bone steak and the steak actually had a round bone in it. Just like a round steak has. Called manager to complain and was not satisfied with the resolution. They wanted me not to eat the steak and said they would send a replacement steak. It was 10:00 pm. It took over an hour for the 1st steak to be delivered. I had just got off work and was hungry. I finally got frustrated and hung up. All they had to do was refund my card or comp me a free meal.
