Charlie's Auto Service is superb. My car's clutch blew out one night. Charlie fixed the clutch so my car was ready the next day. Because my car badly needed some body work at the time, I asked Charles to completely fix the dents in the body, repair the rust damage including replacing the the rocker panel, and completely repaint the car a custom matte black color and fix a big crack in my windshield. My car looks amazing now and it runs fabulously. It is a 2007 Pontiac G5 with a manual transmission. Charlie is friendly and easy to talk to. I would call or text him if I have questions. NOT A PROFESSIONAL SHOP. I'm a diesel mechanic so I know a clown show when I see one. I called these folks for a breakdown on I-90 with clear instructions on how to get to my car. The Driver went the wrong way, then showed up 1.5 hours later in a LEXUS. Can't be more clear on this, a LEXUS, not a TOW TRUCK or a Service TRUCK like any other shop would. I ended up needing a jump because they to so long to get to me. The driver of the Lexus didn't have jumper cables and would have to charge me again to go back and get some. read more

We had routine maintenance done on my husband's '99 Nissan Sentra here. They were very straightforward about pricing, timing, and which services were most important, which I really appreciate. They specialize in Japanese cars, so when the Midas guys told me there was a problem with the CV joint axle shaft after an oil change, I brought it here. They showed me the problem, gave me a free estimate, had the parts by the next day, and the car repaired in about 2 hours. The boss, Charlie, is very business-like, but still friendly, and the other employees I have encountered were also very nice and helpful and good at their work. My only difficulty is with understanding the repairmen because of their strong foreign accents, and that is not a complaint by any means, just a communication issue that can be overcome, and it's definitely worth it for the service here. read more

I start getting my Acura R L 2005 served there since Charlie replaced fron light bulb. Dealer asked for $145 because they had to take out componenets that prevented direct access.. Charlie avoided that took oout few components and somehow reaced bulb so it was just $25. Charge. Week ago I had to replace radiator other places like Oscar's Auto shop in Chcago asked $545 but with Chralie itwas $350 and 1 year warranty. I admit that I had a rough start with this shop, but at the end of the day, I feel like the work that was done was quality and the price was reasonable. I had broken down a few blocks from work, so since I have towing insurance, this is the place they chose to take my car, a 2003 Jeep Liberty. I was frustrated that they did not know the problem by the end of the day, so I was going to have another shop go pick up my car....mostly because I started reading the bad reviews. After talking to Charlie, I let him keep the car, and by the end of the day it was fixed. I have had the car back for a week now with no problems, and from talking to other folks, the repair bill was reasonable and fair. So I am happy to say that Charlie did a great job! read more

On my way to Florida for the winter I had a serious tire blow out that caused several thousand dollars on my almost mint 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty. The accident happened on a Saturday late afternoon. The truck was dropped off at Charlie's business later into the evening on Sat. I had never met Charlie or talked with him in my life. He came by his place later that evening and placed my kayaks, and other things into the shop. I stopped by to check on the truck Sunday morning and thought I had been ripped off. He saved the day for me. I had a difficult time with State Farm as they did not want to cover the claim. Charlie worked with them and handled everything and made sure that my old truck was restored to its original condition. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!!!! Charlie, the boss is dishonest and a snake! My brother had his car towed here after breaking down on 90 since it was the "closest" shop according to the tow truck driver. It was extremely difficult understanding the thick accent as well. He kept saying something different was wrong each time. This shop is dishonest. Charlie, the owner, quoted us at $790 for a job that 3 other local mechanics quoted at $300 tops. (The $790 did not include the $195 tow!) When asked why the price would be that high, Charlie said he "has bills and rent to pay too." I told him I'd never heard of a shop that charges for a diagnosis. He said, "I took time out of my schedule, so I charge." When my brother told him not to do the work and that he was having it taken to another shop, Charlie tried to hold his car ransom trying to charge my brother through the roof for a diagnosis and storage fee. My brother had to BEG Charlie to have it taken off of his lot for $125. When my brother picked it up and thanked Charlie, Charlie refused to shake my brother's hand. This guy charges way too much and is not trustworthy! read more

I have a 2010 Toyota Camry and my car was having stalling issues, I took the car to other shops nearby my house and they could not figure out what was causing the stalling. Then I found Charlie's Auto Service in Arlington Heights. I explained to Charlie what the problem with my car was, he quickly pulled the car in the shop and started to diagnose the problem. Within 45 min. he found the issue. The air fuel ratio sensor was short, and that disrupted the ratio of gas to the engine. After he changed the sensor the car ran like it was brand new. I will always go to Charlie's when I have any car issues in the future, and I recommend people to use his body service as well, as he fixed some scratches on my door and it looks like its never been damaged before. Yikes! Do not bring any car to this shop unless you want a host of problems you couldn't imagine! I brought my car there for a water leak and was recommended a bunch of other work. Well, in the process of working on my car a couple of things were "broken" costing me an additional $180 in parts. Upon picking up my car I noticed a host of new issues that were unrelated to the initial repair. I was not given or even offered the "bad" parts to see what was wrong with them. When I asked about the new problems, since the car was operating fine before the repair the response I received was "that's just bad timing". When I asked them to look over the repairs they made I was told they would look, but wouldn't perform any work on the vehicle even if I paid for the repairs because of mis-trust! No kidding! My car is now at another shop and I hope I can get the new issues fixed there. Bottom line? I was given a $500 estimate initially and after the parts they broke (completely unrelated to the leak) in the process I'm out about $850 and still have to see what the new issues will be costing me. Total scam, unbelievable. Don't bring your car or you risk being taken for a long ride. They act as though they are beyond reproach and treat you like you should be honored to have them on the same planet. Wow. read more

I have had Charlie work on my vehicle twice. The first time my car wouldn't start at all and was stuck in park in a parking garage. Charlie was able to analyze the situation and rig my car enough to get it to run enough to get it out of the garage so it could be towed! He then fixed it quickly and with reasonable pricing.
