My husband, dog & I were in a bad car accident over the Memorial Day weekend. (We're okay.) The owners were so nice and really showed their concern for us and advising us what our next steps should be & make sure we cover all our bases. I just picked my 2015 Acura MDX for some bodywork and an oil change. I could not be more pleased with the work that Mario and his team did. They replaced the front driver side fender, pulled out a dent in the hood from an errant baseball and buffed out some paint that was traded with another vehicle on the rear bumper. The car looks like it just rolled off a lot! This was a self-pay situation and they worked to find the best deal on prices for replacement parts, were super transparent throughout the whole process, very timely, and just an overall pleasure to deal with. BEWARE!! My car rental was towed here by police and dropped off for 24 hrs. When I went to collect my stuff from the rental car, there was $600 of items and gift cards missing from my car. They also went through personal information I had in my car and could of stolen personal information for identity theft! When I called to confront a worker they of course denied it. I started to ask around and was told by some friends that they also had items missing from their car after it was at this shop! The rental place also told me they've had customers complain about stolen items out of their car while their rental was impounded at this shop too. I was told that the lady who runs the place is shady and runs scams like this all the time and then passes these items quickly off to other people to get rid of evidence. If ever your car gets towed here, make sure police or whoever tows the car, gets an inventory list of your car items. That was the mistake that both the police department made and I made and now I have 100's of dollars of items missing! Please DO NOT bring your car here and beware if it gets towed to this lot! SN: Y'all have proven how unprofessional you are with your rude and childish responses back to customers who rate you poorly! That said, I did my research with both the tow truck company and auto shop it was dropped off at, there is surveillance proving that they didn't take my items. That ONLY leaves your shop. Now you don't have a bad reputation for stealing just from me. Clearly this is an ongoing problem with your company. This review will stay up as a warning to others. So, I got into a little fender-bender a while ago and needed a place to get my car fixed. My brother-in-law recommended me checking out Palella's. My car door was replaced on my Toyota and it only took the team here 4 days to get it ordered, installed, and returned to me. They were also pretty friendly, as far as I could tell. I was rear ended on 12/6/2021. Although there were no injuries, it was still a startling and disorienting experience for me. The young man who hit me has a non-standard insurance company and I was not feeling good about that based on information I was told and reviews that I read. However, the field appraiser and insurance adjuster came through quickly and I'm grateful that the appraiser suggested that I contact Palella's. Fran and Mario immediately calmed my concerns and compassionately cared for me and my car. I literally teared up in their office in gratitude and relief. I dropped the car off on Wednesday, Dec 15th midday and it was finished by Thursday afternoon on Dec 23rd. I have two magnets I display on my trunk that say, Choose Love, and Heal The World. I had taken those off and placed them inside, on the floor of the passenger side. When I picked up my car, Mario had taken them and placed them right back on my trunk. That brought a big smile and warmth to my heart. There were two unrelated issues that I asked them about and they took care of them at no charge!! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! The owner of this shop, Joe Palella, is a scam artist, and rudely blows cigar smoke in your face. I wrote-up what needed to be done, my friend got the cost estimate for body part removal, replacement and painting, but they refused to finish the job -- but still wanted the same amount of money. I had to call Rolling Meadows Police for an escort to pick up the poorly painted parts with the front-end completely removed and take the car to another shop to finish assembly (essentially paying twice). I was required to still pay the full price for work that was not completed -- the parts were removed, new ones painted, but never installed. This same shop previously tried to scam me by repairing a finish panel on another car, instead of replacing it as the insurance paid for. I caught them and then they did a poor job of painting the new replacement part -- parts of it were inconsistently painted! They also do not accept anything but cash, BEWARE! WOULD NEVER RETURN! THIS SHOP NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! read more

I was involved in an accident in the middle a major intersection during rush hour, and my car incurred something in the ballpark of $4,000+ worth of damage. It was a sitting duck and was towed to Palellas (or, I guess, Palellas towed it) while I was being checked out by the EMTs. Once the chaos died down and the PD informed me where my car was, I was in contact with Chuck that evening. He was nothing but pleasant and accommodating. He told me he would work with me and my insurance company to salvage my car (since I was sure it was totaled). That was a relief to start with.. I also asked to come and collect my personal belongings from my car, and he told me their hours of operation. I told him I'd be there the next day (Friday) around 4, but ended up having to cancel the since I had to go to the doctor (injuries resulting from the accident). Again, he was very pleasant, and said that they might be there a little later if I still wanted to head over. Since that didn't work, I told him I'd be by the next day (Saturday). My mom and I arrived about 30 minutes before they closed, and I checked in with him. We cleaned out my car, and even though we went a little bit over their closing time, I didn't even realize it because we weren't rushed. Actually, no one was even around us when we did. It was a relief to finally have my personal effects (medication, iPass, etc) again. It's been over a month now, and long story short: my insurance company has really dragged in following through on what they have to do (i.e. sending out someone to do an estimate, contacting me, communicating with each other, communicating with Palellas). I'm still dealing with that as I type this... I JUST got off of a 3-way call with one of my insurance agents and Chuck regarding my still-damaged car and claim. My snotty insurance agent told me that *I* didn't do X-Y-Z (not true... apparently adjustors and agents don't share notes?!) and "lectured" me and told me that *I'VE* incurred a bunch of storage fees at Palellas and it's *MY* fault... she asked Chuck to look up the exact cost/fees incurred ($1825), and during the time we were on hold I began defending myself to her asinine claims... unbeknownst to me, Chuck came back into the conversation and heard that part. Hah, oops. Awkwarrdddd! So, my insurance company has f'd me over by taking too long to get their part of the job done, and now my car needs to leave Palellas and go elsewhere to have the work done (or else wait 3 more weeks... totaling 8 weeks without my car). NOT Palella's fault. I wonder who's going to foot that hefty bill for the storage at Palellas...? Meanwhile, my snarky insurance agent gets on the phone with other body shops in the area to see who can get my repairs done ASAP. I called Chuck afterward to ask him to release my car to the new body shop. Thankfully he was able to accommodate my verbal request without me having to take a 45 minute trip down there. He was also sympathetic to the situation with my insurance company, and told me himself that "they dropped the ball." He apologized for the situation (again, not HIS fault!), and told me if I ever needed any advice on this claim or follow-up repairs, just to call. Hmm... now that I think about it, I should ask him what insurance company he recommends... So, even though I've been stressed with the accident itself, not having a car, dealing with injuries, dealing with the defendant's insurance company, and dealing with my own incompetent insurance company, I WASN'T jerked around by Palellas. Chuck was personable, easy-going, and accommodating EVERY time I've spoken with him. Sadly, I can't comment on their body work, but their customer service was A+. So this is the owner's response: "After initial diagnosis, owner authorized rotor replacement." -True, but only because they told me that was the source of the problem. "Owner declined proper services to repair vehicle trouble codes. Owner had several codes on dash before coming in that he was aware of, But did not want to pay to have proper repairs completed." -Complete lie. The codes on the dash and the stuttering braking were the reasons I went in. Why would I decline work to fix the issue I came in for and instead pay to repair my rotors that had nothing to do with the problem unless they told me that's what I needed to do. They didn't even scan my car/talked to me about the codes until the 3rd appointment so how they're making that claim is beyond me. Maybe they're talking about that 3rd appointment when they finally figured out what the issue was and wanted to charge me more on top of what I had paid for their misdiagnosis. If that's the case, then yes, I refused that highway robbery because I was done with them. When the car was released, there was still an issue which they stood behind and fixed same day. I can not begin to explain how much Fran and the crew over there helped me out. I was rear ended/ side swiped with my 2010 Toyota Corolla. It was around 7k in damage. Not only did they give me a guy to call at enterprise that would give me a better deal on a car (23.99 a day, my insurance didn't cover rental), they got the car to me super fast, and where there every step of the way. How does this place have bad reviews? I don't get it. My boyfriend was in a hit and run (someone hit him and drove off) and he had his car towed here to get fixed. 3 weeks later, his car was ready and it look AMAZING! It seriously looked like nothing had ever happened to his car. It runs just like it did before. The woman (Frances is her name) in there was incredibly nice to us, explained everything that they did to the car, and showed us his car before we drove off. I've taken my own car to other places before for auto body repairs but after such an awesome experience with Pallela's, I'll be taking my car there every time I need something repaired. This place is amazing. Damaged the back passenger side of my Ford Explorer and they made it look like it never happened. Great price and their work is perfection. They even cleaned the inside and fixed the needle that shows if I am in drive or reverse etc for no extra charge and without me even asking. Fran and Ed were super nice. I can tell you from a professional standpoint this place is a joke. A customer came in a couple weeks ago (I work at AutoNation) with a vehicle that had been "fixed" by Palellas. Now this is not the first time I've heard bad things about this place, but this story is just unreal. Not only was the left tire rod barely holding on (very dangerous while driving at high speeds), but the right ball joint was destroyed. Any professional mechanic would have seen this and know it should be fixed. Another pos shop that cuts corners to make an extra buck. The owner of the vehicle knew the shop owner personally too! I have used this body shop twice now. The first time the body work was ok, but there was a bunch of critical mechanical work from the accident that needed to be done. It wasn't even noticed or mentioned, so after pick up the vehicle had to be taken to another shop to have the suspension fixed, and that's after spending three weeks at the body shop. The second time the vehicle had been there for several weeks, and there was no clear answer on why they were still waiting for parts. They were very rude in their communication, and very unpleasant to work with. Overall this body shop has been a terrible experience, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I was hit in the end of September sometime, the towing service towed my car to Palellas and assured me that they will take care of my car. Insurance let me know I was covered and they began working on my car, it only took a few weeks to fully repair, paint and detail my car. I must say they do exceptional work, my car was running better than before it went in. They were very helpful every time I called they told me the truth as to how long it would be done didn't string me along, they explained to me somethings may take longer than others and I was happy with their honesty. I picked up my car last week and they detailed it wonderfully it was spotless, the damaged area where I was hit ( back drivers side and wheel) was non existent. Even my husband was satisfied with the work. A day after I picked it up I noticed my cigarette lighter was not working where I usually plug in my chargers, so I called and asked if they could take a look at it (5pm they close at 5:30) they told me to come in. The woman who ran the front greeted me and told me that her mechanic would look at it. I felt bad because they were closing soon but she assured me it wasn't a problem and they would be happy to look at it for me. It took about 20 mins and the mechanic informed me that I had a problem with the actual charger and the charger was blowing the fuse every time I plugged it in so he changed it multiple times just to get it fixed, he was then nice enough to give me his own personal charger and let me know he fixed the problem! Wow I mean that's above and beyond service! This place is awesome and I would seriously recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional body work on their car and all other car issues. Side note the woman running the desk was so nice not only to me but my husband said when he went in that she was so nice and really informative, so for anyone thinking a woman can't be in this business and be knowledgeable, think again cuz this chick knew her stuff!
