Cheap, fast, and delicious. Gosh darn it, their cheese burger hit the spot. I would go as far as to say their fries are better than Culver's guys. They are more crispy, less floppy and less greasy. My family and I were helping people move nearby and needed sugary energy that only ice cream can provide. Lucky for us, Charlie's Drive-In was a couple minutes away. Four of the people in my group ordered twist ice cream cones and I got a root beer float. It was a warm day, so the soft serve ice cream was melting quickly, but it was so good. I was told they make their own root beer and I thought it tasted great in the root beer float. We didn't make it back later on for dinner like I had hoped for, but the prices were very reasonable and they have a decent selection. We happened to be driving thug Amma stopped. We were immediately greeted by a car hop and when we said we were new and would need a minute, the owner, Carl, came out and offered a more detailed menu. Then, when I asked about the root beer, offered to show us how it's made. They make their own root beer! Great food, AMAZING service, and a wonderful nostalgic feel. Definitely worth the trip! The food is excellent! Exactly how burgers and fries should be. And...they have RC Cola! I don't usually drink soda, but will make an exception for nostalgic reasons. Service is Midwest great. Every one is smiling and genuinely seems happy. It's sort of set up like an old school A&W...so, its ambiance is great. I have to say this is the best place I have ever eaten on a good value of money. It was nice knowing that A&W building before it became this. I am visiting this place from michigan being in Wisconsin for a friends wedding. The first time we had this was for lunch on Wednesday which was amazing had the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. The food was excellent. The service was amazing. Then Friday night we came back and I had the same thing and a brown cow which was amazing. The strawberry sundae was amazing. I can't wait to have this again when I visit Wisconsin in the summertime. read more

LOVE Charlie's!!! I've only been here a few times but it's a family favorite! Absolutely love the aesthetics and being able to stay in our vehicles, the prices are very reasonable and food has always been pretty good for us!! Service can be a little better as we've seen people just standing around quite a bit and one guy seemed a little irritated/wasn't very smiley. but we understand it can get busy/overwhelming or not knowing when someone needs help as we stay in our vehicles!!! Old Fashioned Drive-In restaurant with waitresses that come to your car and deliver the food on a "table" that fits on your car window. Fun atmosphere and if you are lucky Elvis (I think he's the owner) will be working. Has outdoor tables if you do not want to mess up your car. Great place for a summer treat! read more

Don't ask why, just go to Charlie's for a wonderful slice of Americana! We stopped in after a hard afternoon of gardening; almost every spot was taken. We placed our order and a short time later our carhop brought out our food. Hubby had a double cheeseburger, I had the grilled chicken, and we shared an order of onion rings. Both sandwiches were perfect, the rings were hot onion goodness, a little grease but not too much. The root beer was "da bomb!" For 1.15 we each got a ~ a 20 oz. frosty mug of sublime root beer, which neither of us could finish. They have a full complement of h'ors d'oeuvres, sandwiches, basket dinners, and beverages.
