The guy changed my battery while I waited and did so fast and efficiently -- there was a bracket…read moreholding down my battery that corporate apparently doesn't want their employees to mess with -- but the guy who changed my battery explained everything and made an exception, which I appreciated so I didn't have to change it myself. I'm glad I have an older car -- would you believe that newer cars won't accept a new battery until you register it or something with the car's computer? Think I'm showing my age but I digress. One thing I recommend is to keep your car running for a while or drive it around as a new battery sitting for a while can lose charge. Don't turn it off right away. It chugged a bit to start the second time but did so and after driving for 15 I was good to go. The store is well organized and clean. Great variety of supplies -- much easier than hunting on Amazon. Good to see brick and mortar stores like this that hold their own. You can even pick up some Lucas CLP and an "Extreme Duty" needle oiler, which is stocked right across from the register as you walk in. That's a nice touch :)

Fast and enjoyable interaction and I always like Pep Boys because I feel they are very honest and clear with the car issues. Waiting time was not long at all and I think they are very efficient. Plus the mechanic with the long beard looked so cool . The man handling the payment of the service was very nice telling me how much I would have to pay in case my issue comes back and what would be the repair cost approximately. No pressure and no upsell.

Told me it would be $1,900 to replace compressor and other big ticket parts. I said no thank you. Then they said, we added .5lb refrigerant and it was cool but id have to pay $325 to keep the refrigerant they added including $115 of labor. I said no, they said it would take a long time to drain back out. It took 4 minutes. Adding refrigerant was all the truck needed. Added refrigerant and it fixed the problem. Would take a vehicle elsewhere.

I just want to put in my key and drive, lol! Todd was very honest and took care of everything I needed. The oil change was very reasonably priced. I needed brakes and also a new back tail light, which Todd found the same exact light outside of the dealership that saved me money (everything on Lexus is $$$ to replace). They were very rude to my 25-year-old receptionist with two kids were very rude.. then they proceeded to tell the customer that they're overpaying for the car by the way this car is priced at 95% of the market meaning it's the second best price in the country for what it is. This shop doesn't even sell cars. They would have no real clue what it's worth. we have over 200+ cars with over 70 cars in the same genre. Been doing this for 15 years. If anybody knows right now, the market is up in the first place on Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I just never had a shop be so rude and proceed to go beyond their job into another job that they have no clue what they're talking about. I would strongly recommend going somewhere that's more courteous with people. I wish I would've recorded how he was talking to this gal.

This is why I have been a loyal customer of DM Auto for almost 30 years!! Encinitas Foreign and Domestic Auto Repair was ripping me off and was not even able to fix my car even though they charged me way too much for their incompetent service and gave up on fixing my car. Charlie's Foreign and Domestic Auto Repair fixed my car for less money and it is still running great more than 2 years later.
