I was able to pick up a few bits that I needed as I passed through Hastings (not exactly a big town, located at the X between Grand Rapids and Battle Creek, and Lansing and Kalamazoo). The store is laid out similar to other Walmarts. Picking through the personal care items and through the grocery, I got what I wanted for the week in my hotel room. Self-checkout worked fine. But on the other hand if you need a handful of ingredients for a recipe or have to pick something up that you forgot earlier then this store fills in the blanks. The one thing that they do very very well is their deli. They have a wide assortment of things like pasta salads and chicken wings etc. It's a great way to get something to round out a family dinner or get something to add to your lunch. We come here around 4-5 times a month for small things. And given the proximity and the past salad it'll likely continue to be a place we stop by.
