I love Montague Foods for all my grocery needs. They carry a wide variety of alcohol too which is a plus! The deli at Montague Foods is unmatched. I really enjoy the deli items that are offered such as the cheddar macaroni salad and the rotelli pasta. The jerky is fresh and so tasty with a variety of flavors to choose from. My family and I always shop here when we vacation at our cottage up here. This place truly has everything!! Lots of great healthy, affordable, and speciality options. They've got a huge produce section with local Michigan goodies, a great wine section, tons of breads including the infamous English muffin toast (Morat's bakery), meats, cheese and dairy, deli meats, cleaning supplies, household items, school supplies and other random things. They really do have it all and if you're looking for good food to cook while staying up in Whitehall or Montague, Montague Foods is well worth the stop! I was really excited to see they even had Sunbelt Bakery's chewy oats and honey granola bars and these 30 cal (low carb) wraps that I love! They have a huge beer section as well and plenty of liquor if you're stopping in for booze. The store is always clean and stocked and the employees are friendly and helpful! read more

I love how friendly and accommodating everyone at this store is. Need a last minute cake, a specialty drink, whatever. They truly aim to please. The produce is much better under the new owners as and the prices for a resort town are fair. read more

Food is not fresh. Read your expiration labels here...they have several items "on sale" that are 2-6 weeks past their expiration dates.

I have shopped here my whole life, even when it was across the street when I was little. Walmart and Meijer are so big and bustling and give me anxiety. If I cannot find what I am looking for I ask a manager or someone working to see if they can order something for me. It usually comes within a week, sometimes sooner. I don't mind paying more to support this wonderful family run business. The staff are friendly, and helpful too. Especially the deli/bakery department. read more

My boyfriend and I have bought liquor here for the last two years. Conveniently, we went today with a friend of ours who happens to be a black male and were denied service. The manager on duty was extremely rude and tried to lie to us about the ID violating a "Michigan Law" but yet we have bought from them for the last year with no problem. There was no reason for us to be denied service, especially lied to. It will be well worth it to drive the extra 15-20 minutes to a new grocery store. It saddens me that a business would act in that manner. We asked them to scan the ID, they refused. Every single one is us we're of age, with a VALID (not expired) Michigan ID. Please avoid businesses that pick and choose when they want to serve people. read more

We were visiting the area on a Sunday morning and a lot of the nearby places to eat were closed so we thought we would see if they had some deli food. What a great deli! We opted for two types of hot chicken and a couple salads to go with - everything was really good - homemade quality. The chicken was outstanding and the loaded, red skin potato salad was top-notch - and I'm a picky, potato salad aficionado. Give it a try - you have to find a place to eat it all, but you won't be disappointed in the food! read more

Has prices that are out of this world. Went all the way to Meijer before Walmart opened to just buy milk or bread. If you don't care they gouge you shop here all you want. My advice for much better prices go to Walmart but even go there early in the day. read more

My daughter was attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and I did some grocery shopping at Montague Foods. It is a very well laid-out store and the staff is extremely helpful! They were helpful before my issue of losing my cell phone. And then their true kind hearts and sympathy were shown to me...a complete stranger! There were three people helping me that day! One of the managers, Rich, probably spent a good two hours helping me locate my phone! He went above and beyond the call of duty. When I told him that we could just give up and that I shouldn't take up more of his time, he said, "That is what I am here for!" I finally left and he continued to search and few hours later located it and called my husband's phone to tell me the good news! (I did not have insurance on the phone and still had $25/month installments owed until May 2019, so he saved me a lot of money!) What wonderful customer service where the customer is truly first! This grocery store is very nice. They keep the shelves well-stocked and the store is very clean. The only problem I find is because it is right on the lake and in the winter it is terribly cold in the parking lot and the wind is blowing! read more
