Growing up outside of Delco I simply lack the nostalgic love for Charlie's. Despite no generational history I love this place. Yes, it's not the "old" place....just a bright, clean, lively newer spot a couple miles away. Took 15 yo following night soccer game vs Ridley seconds from the HS. Charlie's specials, a single cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and fried onions. Perfection. Bun sat on grill top for a crunch. Milkshake made on the spot, we watched. Fries dropped for our order...piping hot and salty.

Peg Special, Charlies Special, and a Hot Dog (background)

Neat and simple little place to grab a few, classic burgers. They've got tasty burgers that I think are griddle-smashed. Thin with that little crispy exterior. There are a few toppings, but I went with the Charlie's Special (burger with cheese, fried onions, tomato, and pickles) a Peg Special (double burger with cheese, fried onions, and bacon), my wife got a hot dog (they split it flat and serve on a burger bun) and we split a small order of fries and an order of onion rings (whole onion rings that are batter fried.) Order was quick and hit the spot. Basic stuff that was well executed. It's not reinventing the wheel, but if you want a good, tasty burger and are in the area, I definitely recommend it.

Judge for yourself.

Delco staple. Grew up on these cheeseburgers and always taste the same throughout the years.

Interesting place. Burgers made bun greasy so much that didn't eat the bottoms bun. Fries were good. Don't think I will come back.

The inside needs a little updating and better lighting, but it was clean. Unfortunately a brand new mega Wawa opened across the street so I hope they can coexist. The owner was also my server and she was awesome! We had a great conversation about the brands of ice cream she carries, the building and her passion for the business. She recommended a peanut butter chocolate ice cream which I believe is made by Kemps which was fantastic. I went with a medium sized in a cup and it did not disappoint. It was loaded with PB swirls and rich chocolate ice cream. Cost $4 and change. I love seeing how a lot of these small Ice Cream places make the most of their limited space and this spot definitely pulls that off. Cakes, water ice, hand dipped, soft served, toppings, sundaes, etc. You have to take a trip here if you get an itching for ice cream. The owner cares, she's crafted her menu for almost 18 years. I'm a fan and you'll be too.

Buuuuut the cookies are one thousand times better than their more famous competitor, so I will continue to buy their cookies. Speaking of their lousy competitor I won't name, the cookies here are always cooked the whole way through and yet still maintain their soft centers. I love how the edges are crispy and the center is doughy (but fully cooked!). It's more like a brownie in consistency than a cookie. The Firecracker is their best offering in my opinion. It is their s'mores flavor and it's more like a graham cracker blondie than a cookie, and it's super buttery to boot. I also really liked the Purple Haze, which is a white chocolate chip cookie. It's probably their most gimmicky cookie, but it's well done and the white chocolate gives the flavor more depth than you realize. The chocolate chip and sugar cookies are also really good, but I would go for one of the more unique flavors going forward. Great cookies, for sure. The branding is just kind of off. I like them anyway.

They had pretty solid yogurt options and the machines were up and running. The toppings were in an abundance from gummies, to chocolate, to whipped topping or peanut butter toppings The staff were friendly and accommodating. They support and feature local vendors and companies as well as your household names, which adds to the variety. You can be a member which comes with certain benefits, but as I don't shop here that often, I don't see the point. Most recently I had a BLT to order and a chocolate chip cookie sandwich. The BLT was a nice size. The tomatoes were ripe and the lettuce was crisp. The ice cream sandwich was from Zsa's and very good too. There's both indoor and outdoor seating.
