Good old Charlie's Place has come to my rescue many times. When I need food early in the morning or late at night, this place stays open longer than the other places around. Their breakfast burritos are solid and their entrees are pretty good too. Last night we needed some food to go with the beers in our hotel room so we ordered off the appetizer and got grilled chicken nachos, wings, side of onion rings, and sliders. Went in for lunch on March 25 at noon and was served by Jessica. This place was recommended by a friend for their excellent food so I decided to give it a try. The food was okay but what really disappointed me was our servers lack of customer service as soon as we entered the restaurant. She rushed us and never checked up on us to see if we needed anything, was snappy the one time I asked for something and forgot to bring us the correct menu after almost 20 minutes. On top of that she forgot to add one of our orders and didn't seem to care or apologize for the mistake that spent over 45 minutes at this point (she never ended up adding the missing order). She gave two older white female customers great service but I guess she likes to pick and choose who deserves it based on appearance or status. If you want a nice quick lunch I would not recommend this place. read more

Came in on a Sat. night for dinner. Got a table and noticed that they dont love the tables when cleaning the floors and there was a decent amount of crud under the feet. This is important to me because I rely on a medical alert dog who lays at my feet. As I said I use a service dog and Bailey gladly gives 4 paws up , we had zero access issues. We didnt have to wait over long for our food. My Bloody Mary was good, spicy, lip numbing but good. The food came out and we both let slip an exaggerated curse word out under out breath. The monster burrito was exactly that!! It was over a foot long amd weighed 4 pounds! My nachos were also rather daunting looking and completely loaded with toppings. We were both suitably awestruck. I swear I heard the Mr.s stomach whisper, "Please, No...." lol. We dug in.. Note the chili verde is not verde but rojo.. I really think it's more chili colorado. But the mr said it was still very good. My nachos were good. I loved the chips.. I really think they make their own. It had LOTS of toppings!! Not one singke plain bite! I loved everything about them except the chicken. It tasted canned to me? Would 10/10 order again with beef. I have to give mad props to the waitress. Tried Charlie's Place today for the first time. We lucked out and caught them while they were still serving breakfast. The Chile verde omelette was really good. My wife got the vegetarian omelette and wasn't unhappy about it. Our daughter, the finicky 11-year old, had the cheeseburger sliders and she had no complaints (which she almost always does). I'm very picky with my chorizo and this place was bomb! Lots of flavor which is important. My kids loved their kids breakfast and ate the entire thing with no bribing! My husband had the biscuits and gravy and said it was really good. Brother got linguisa and was impressed. Dad got steak and eggs and said this place is his new favorite spot. Sister (vegetarian) got the veggie breakfast burrito and couldn't get enough. I wish I took pics but our plates were empty before we could think of it. Shout out to our server Chris who had great customer service. I'm convinced the only reason this place has less stars is because it's not trendy enough for some customers. There was no way I was going to test that point. We got mimosas with our breakfast. While I was enjoying my mimosa, I saw a sign that said, "No alcohol beyond this point". Initially, I wasn't planning on bringing my alcohol beyond that point, but that sign changed everything. My mind started racing. What happens when you bring alcohol beyond that point? Has anyone ever tried and if they have, have they lived to tell their story? I wanted to pass that point for just a second to see if I'd be okay, but ended up not being courageous enough. What if I jumped past that point and then never saw my friends or family again? Or what if the restaurant decided to take my drink away from me? Both consequences sounded terrifying. Charlie's Place is a solid spot known for their happy hour, wing Wednesdays, and bottomless mimosas. I've been here more than a few times mainly for their wings and all I gotta say is that they need to step it up. On some days, the wings are as massive as my fist, other days, I get tiny scraps that are as big as a wingtip. Not a bad place to grub with friends, but if they're raising prices, something's gotta change back in that kitchen. EDIT: I was here for breakfast on a few occasions and my eggs came out raw when I asked for them over easy. As for happy hour, the Asada Nacho Grande is the way to go. Large variety of alcohol to choose from and great selection of beers. We always start off with some apps. Especially onion rings and mozzarella sticks. Highly recommend the Chickarones! Found our go to place for breakfast. Got here about 11:00 on a Saturday and it was jamming. Seems like most of the customers were college students, but the place was active, but not crazy. My wife ordered the California omelette and I got the Portuguese sausage and eggs. Since we are both on keto diets, she substituted cottage cheese for her hash browns and I told the server to hold.mybtoaat and give me a quarter portion of hash browns. The patio was beautiful, and this place was packed! I wish I could be more generous with my review... but it just didn't measure up to all the other amazing SLO restaurants. I ordered Avo Toast with fruit. After waiting am true hour for our food, and to my dismay, mine came with a piece of dry toast and 4 slices of avocado! (Shout out to CA for the good fruit!) My husband ordered the Chili Verde, but it came with red sauce. My daughter ordered the Tri Tip sandwich that was perfectly average. The fries, however, were the shining star of the meal!
