Great food, drinks and atmosphere!! We come here every year, there's usually no wait since it's at the southern side of the strip.

For dessert, my better half and I shared their bananas foster bread pudding, which was out of this world scrumptious. I wanted to lick the bowl! North of NOLA will be at this spot until Labor Day. It's definitely worth visiting (more than once)! I can't wait to go back for more! (Forgot to take pictures of our main course! But did get a picture of dessert!)

I lived 7 1/2 years in Louisiana and even worked for 2 1/2 years at the legendary Ralph & Kacoo's, so I have been searching for years for Cajun food as good as I enjoyed back then. I have eaten at every so called Cajun Restaurant in NH, ME, MA, and RI. North of NOLA and Big Mamou in Springfield MA are the only two that could be served in Louisiana . I started if with an Abita Purple Haze (beer). I was worried it might be a little stale, but it was fresh and tasty. My wife had a hard Southern Peach Tea. It was delicious as well. On to the food: We started with a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was very thick, not watery, and had lots of shrimp, crab, crawfish, and okra. 10 of 10 and the hit of the night. I will return just for the gumbo. My wife got the Zydeco Pasta for her meal. Not too spicy and full of flavor. Maybe a tad to much andouille, but 7 of 10. I got the Crawfish Etouffe. A little mild for my taste but delicious. 8 of 10. We also got a Blackened Fish Bites appetizer with our meals. I wish it was catfish, but they used Haddock. It was perfectly spiced and delicious. 8 of 10. Would be 10 of 10 if they used wild caught catfish. For dessert we got Beignets and coffee. The beignets were dreamy. 9 of 10. All in all it was an amazing experience and we will make the drive again soon.

The Smuttynose Tasting Bar beer garden on a warm, late summer day is just about as good as it gets…read more I'm known to travel long distances to visit breweries with working cats. While Smuttynose doesn't have a cat (that I'm aware of), we were pleasantly surprised to meet the resident good boy, a black lab named Willy! What a treat. He is so friendly and freely roams the bar and beer garden. Cute pup aside, I love their facility. The outdoor area hosts a variety of seating options, including my personal favorite: adirondack chairs. This place would be an ultimate summer hang if I lived closer! You don't even have to go inside to order a beer - just walk up to the order window. I tasted their fall offers: Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed both, even purchasing a variety pack to trek home with me that included both the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Their flagshop brown ale is called Old Brown Dog, and when we visited, they had a stronger version on tap - Very Old Brown Dog. The Very Old Brown Dog is one of the better strong beers I've tasted in some time. Definitely a sipper, especially if you're driving - but boy, it was smooth and very tasty in spite of it's sub 10% abv. The tasting bar is no frills at it's core, but clean bathrooms, fun merch, and good beer are flowing. There are some snacky foods available for purchase, but their restauarant is just across the parking lot if you're seeking a substantial meal. Lots of parking, great outdoor gathering space, smaller indoor seating area - would be great for summer hangs. Lots of tasty beer and a good doggy await. Smuttynose is one of my favorite breweries I've visited in recent memory.

Then we popped over to the restaurant and grabbed a table for some food. We only ordered chicken tenders, which came out quickly and were sweet and crispy. Our server was nice, they were a little disorganized and I think we would sit in the " bar service" area next time and just buy stuff ourself and bring it outside. Overall, good time, nice place and they had beers that were not IPAs so those are all good in my book.
