I've been coming to Charlotte Plummer's for over 20 years. Tonight was my last. The quality of food and value has dropped off significantly over the last 4 years. Until a few years ago, entrees came with your choice of soup or salad bar. Now, you must chose between soup and gumbo and if you want a salad bar, it will cost you an addition $5.99. I would be surprised if the salad bar plate is larger than 5" in diameter. The salad bar was one of the main attractions. Tonight, the dressing was warm, the croutons were stale, and salad-bar staples like boiled egg and cheese are now noticeably absent. Garnish on my fried shrimp plate was a laughable sliver of wilted green-leaf lettuce and a lime wedge so small it only lasted for 2 shrimp. Upon entering it took a minute for them to figure out who was going to seat us (party or 4) and where exactly they were going to seat us. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. Maybe a freshen up would do for the interior but for a restaurant with maybe 10 diners in it the ambience was nice and quiet. Everything tasted like it was previously frozen or refrigerated. Charlotte Plummer's has a great waterfront setting, but my experience landed somewhere in the middle. The salad bar was just okay, and the dressing selection was surprisingly limited. There wasn't a single vegan‑friendly option--no balsamic, no simple oil‑and‑vinegar--so that part definitely missed the mark. They also charge full price for the all‑you‑can‑eat salad bar even if you only want one plate. I thought that was a bit silly, but rules are rules. I also tried their blue mimosa, which was new on the menu. It didn't taste any different from a regular mimosa, so I'm pretty sure it was just champagne with blue curaçao for color. Fun to look at, but nothing special flavor‑wise. On the positive side, everyone in my group who ordered seafood was thrilled. My friend's coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly--crispy, not greasy, and with just the right amount of coconut so it wasn't overwhelming. Several people at our table ordered the crab cakes, and they all raved about how good they were. I had the seafood salad with crab, shrimp, avocado, spring lettuce mix, and remoulade sauce and wow. I was completely floored by not only how huge the portion was, but how incredibly fresh and flavorful everything tasted. The seafood was perfectly prepared, the avocado was ripe, and that remoulade tied it all together beautifully. The setting makes it even better. Charlotte Plummer's Seafare Restaurant sits right along Fulton Harbor with a gorgeous bay view that just screams Coastal Texas!! It's the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy a great meal with that bay view. Of course the service was great and everything was taken care of from refilling drinks to ensuring you had what you wanted. Between the generous portions, fresh seafood, and unbeatable waterfront atmosphere, this is easily one of the best places to eat on the coast. I'll absolutely be back. read more

My husband and I just arrived in Rockport and wanted to have a nice intimate dinner date. We were really hungry for some good food and I was looking through restaurants and came upon Charlotte Plummer Seafare Restaurant. I was too hungry to look through the reviews I just saw the photos and figured it be a nice ambience. I do want to add we got there 45 mins before closing time so this may be a reason why the food was subpar. We walked in and the hostess greeted us and sat us outside, I wanted to have a nice view of the dock. We sat down, it was eerily quiet... there was another party sitting adjacent from us. It was a bit awkward, no music, just silence.... Anyway, our waitress came in and helped us. I had no problem with the staff they were really kind. We get our food, the Gumbo tasted okay, tasted like veggie soup in a can. Husband liked the tortilla soup. We ordered chips and salsa, salsa tasted store bought. I ordered a ribeye with linguine and veggies. Husband ordered chicken fried steak with baked potato. The linguini was hard and dry as if left out for hours so I asked for a baked potato, the baked potato was room temp and a bit hard, same with my husband's. The ribeye was good though. I would not come back unfortunately, the place has potential given its right by the dock. If I do go back, it will just be for drinks. read more

I've been going to CP since the 1970's, the last 20+ years the day after our anniversary, just to give some context. We started with a salad, always good and fresh, it didn't disappoint. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, and I don't know when they switched over to these long chunks of something (rather flavorless), but it sure was awful tasting and the texture was like chewing on an old warm pink rubber eraser. We didn't even finish them, the breading fell off so they looked like white square worms on our plate. Next we moved to fried shrimp and oysters. I know...oysters in Texas on a month without an "R" is asking for it, but I assumed they were safe. The plates arrived and I'd say that Sysco did a good job of breading the small shrimp. The oysters were small, which we usually take in Texas, but fried to a crisp, and lacking flavor, unless you count bleach or some sort of sanitizer for flavor. The baked potatoe was well cooked, the gumbo was fine, not good, but fine. The server did her job admirably, keeping my tea glass full and being observant as to when to bring each course, allowing us to finish our salads before appetizer, finish that before the main meal, etc... Dessert? No, I wasn't feeling confident of that, we went down to road to Grandma B's for ice cream. I'm sorry Charolette Plumbers, you've probably lost a 50 years + patron. read more

My family and I have gone to Charlotte Plummers for years...I have taken them off of our list and put them back on when the food got better. I was there in June 2026 and I suspect this will be my last. $26 for shrimp that were so overcooked, they were flat and dry. The Fried shrimp batter was gooey and the baked potato was hard. The service sucked and the waiter NEVER smiled. He did not want to be there and we all knew it. The sad thing is I wanted to email the restaurant to tell them they have a problem, but they did not want me to do that as they gave no email.. This place was such a disappointment. First thing you must understand is that Rockport, Ts use to be a little fishing community. Many if not most of them are closed on Sunday, I presume because many fishermen/fisherwomen and tourist leave on Sunday to head back home. Being the only restaurant open as we tried several, I will say the place is nice and clean, a nice view of the water and shrimp boats but that's about it. There was no waiting for a table and were seated immediately. Out waitress was great. Personable, friendly, kind and attentive. I ordered the fried shrimp and oysters (medium). It came with about sis cool not hot fried shrimp and about as many fried oysters that were cold and the breading fell off as I picked them up with the fork. To top it off, the after taste was terrible. The baked potato was cold and had to send it off. Reheated in the microwave for about 30 seconds and still cool that the cheese didn't melt on it. My wife ordered the ordered the whole fresh stuffed flounder. My wife loves fresh stuffed flounder and coming from Louisiana she knows what's fresh and tasty. It came out burned and couldn't even get to the underside of the bones for the second and bottom half of the fish. So bad, and even she too said it had an after taste. Our daughter ordered the stuffed flounder filet which she said was ok. Now, for a restaurant with a nice ambience, a great friendly waitress, why would you serve cocktail sauce in little store bought cups, the same for tarter sauce, little tubes of butter, and one package of three saltine crackers. Then you have some older gentleman who walks around the business looking busy but does absolutely or just about absolutely nothing. I was getting dizzy just seeing him walk from one entrance of the tea or refill part and out the other door. All night long. I saw him take one order from a large family as we were about to leave. The optional salad is $5.99. Really. Apologize for the long review but try someplace else. Not sure what happened to this place. Unfortunately the only positive of this restaurant for me was it was easy to get a table on a Friday night in December when we visited. Ordered the seafood platter with a baked potato chicken tortilla soup on the side. While the soup was good, I thought the fried oysters had a bizarre after taste and struggled to eat them. The shrimp were tiny and overcooked. The fish was also super small and didn't taste very fresh. For the price for the small platter it was absolutely NOT WORTH IT IMO. I have no idea why this place only gets 2.8 stars, it deserves far more than that. I came with 5 other people and was very easily able to find a table. I ordered the large fried fish platter (4 fried fish filets) with fries and shrimp gumbo. Although I thought the gumbo was somewhat lacking in shrimp (not that I'm a superfan of gumbo) the fish more than made up for it. My fish was also served with a generous amount of french fries and tartar sauce. The waitress even gave me some ketchup to go with my fries. She was also very nice and more than earned her tip. I give up! Their food is very good and reasonably priced but what I hate is that they are closed almost every time I go there. (At least 3 out of the last five times I've gone. They don't answer the phone most of the time but have their hours on a recording. So good luck if you plan on driving any distance to get there. If I had a dollar for every time I drove over there to find them closed, I could buy myself a nice meal at a restaurant that is actually open for business. If you are lucky enough to find them open, you will probably enjoy the place. read more

Arrived for a late lunch on May 20, 2025! Party of four dined on the second floor where we were able to see two Dolphins swimming in and around the Shrimping boats. What a playful sight. We were approached by a very courteous waitress who took our order. I ordered the Fried fish which was Flounder with fries and a Shrimp Gumbo. The Gumbo was acceptable as I've had Gumbo in Louisiana and I believe to compare them would not be good. Having said that a little salt, Pepper and Tabasco made the Gumbo good and tasty and edible! My wife ordered the Shrimp Brochette on a bed of very good rice. The Shrimp were wrapped in what appeared to be burnt bacon wrapped around an overdone Shrimp. Surprise! The taste, according to my "Picky" wife was very good. For her to say that means she meant it and was very good! We have been coming here for many years! The food has always been good here and the fact that the restaurant is located overseeing the bay makes for some very fine dining! Don't miss this Texas treasure! read more

I had a hard time deciding between a 3 or 4 star rating. Essentially, the overcooked, chewy shrimp led me to the 3. The flavors were there, but chewing shrimp is very unpleasant. I did, however, love the fries and bread pudding for dessert. Service was also very friendly and quick! read more

For one the oldest Quality Seafood restaurants in Rockport, TX. It has become a shame of Rockport. 5pm on Friday, before the crowds arrived. Frozen Margaritas weren't ready to serve! That took 30 minutes to get ready. The Gumbo was the worsted I've ever had anywhere. A one trip to the salad bar is $6 with any meal extra and it had no cheese offered. My simple fried Shrimp was overcooked to dark brown. The baked potato was so cold, butter wouldn't melt. No hot soft flaky potato, cold solid rubbery potato. I've been eating there for over 45 years,,, it's had some really good food at times over the years!!! I'm sorry!!! But the management sure be ashamed of what they are serving!!! read more

While Charlotte Plummers has a lovely view of the Fulton waterfront and a comfortable ambience and friendly service, the food is so uninspired and mediocre. Gumbo is lackluster, fried and coconut shrimp (only 3 on the appetizer) were small sized and very overcooked. Salad bar has a nice array of fresh items but why not use real bacon bits instead of the artificial type stuff? Bring it up, y'all. You have such a huge number of potential customers who visit Rockport-Fulton along with locals - all who look forward to well prepared seafood. read more

The food and atmosphere used to be delightful. A place you could take someone who didn't like seafood, and they could change their mind. A nice lunch with your grandma overlooking the bay. The last time we visited, in late July, the staff just didn't care, the place seemed run down, and the food was next to awful. We always order the crab dip, it's just the best. This time it didn't taste right, not fresh at all. This has been a favorite for decades in my family, but we're not likely to return. We were seated and ordered sodas and appetizers. We walked out 45 minutes later and never got our appetizers (chips and salsa BTW). The waitress said she would check k on the chips but we never saw her again until we asked for the check for the sodas so we could leave. The waitress wasn't surprised at all by us leaving so I am guessing it happens often that people walk out after 45 minutes and no sign of even the simplest appetizer.
