We stayed at the Lotte Hotel Seattle and stopped by Charlotte for a couple of drinks. After enjoying the atmosphere, we decided to make a dinner reservation--and we're so glad we did. This has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle. We had the trap-raised ribeye and the halibut, and both dishes were absolutely exceptional. The service was phenomenal from start to finish, and the wine selection was excellent, with plenty of great options to pair with dinner. A friend and I decided to check out Happy Hour at Charlotte on our way back from seeing the latest WA Women Painters exhibit (don't miss it) at Columbia Center. Arrival was a bit confusing: there's no host station at the entrance. We finally flagged down a waiter, who told us to seat ourselves. We did just that, then waited quite a while to be acknowledged. Feeling decadent, we both ordered the Truffle Fries, which sounded just delectable. They arrived before any table settings did, meaning we had to flag down our server again just to get plates, cutlery, and napkins. Sigh. Service was lackadaisical - and the lounge wasn't crowded. We later discovered a gratuity of 20% is automatically added to all orders. Not noticing this until after we'd already paid meant that our server, Michael, was paid a 40% tip. The "Truffle Fries" were a letdown: not hand-cut, as you'd expect from an establishment like Charlotte, but ordinary frozen french fries with a dusting of parmesan on top. So not worth the calories...we ate about a quarter of them. On our way out, our server thanked us by our first names - a bit disarming, and a little too casual for our taste, especially as women dining without men at the table. Charlotte is such a beautiful spot for a special occasion or elevated dinner, and overall we really enjoyed the experience. The space feels upscale without being too stiff, with gorgeous views that make the whole meal feel extra memorable. (Tip: come for the sunset) We had the rustic rye bread, foie gras torchon, scallop ceviche, and sautéed black cod. All of those felt thoughtful and well-executed. The bread was a great start, the foie gras was rich in the best way (and we loved the strawberry sauce that goes with it) the ceviche brought a nice brightness with the yuzi and mango favors, and the black cod was beautifully cooked. Those dishes made the meal feel refined and worth the visit. The elk rack was the one dish that didn't quite work for us. It was prepared nicely, but we found it a bit too gamey for our taste, the side veggies that goes with it was also a little salty. That said, the rest of the meal more than made up for it, and I appreciated that the menu had plenty of other interesting dishes to explore. The cocktails were also very good overall. We loved Live, Love, Lotte but found the Smokey Blue was a bit too sweet for me. Still, between the atmosphere, service, view, and most of the food, we had a really enjoyable night. read more

We stayed at the Lotte Hotel where the restaurant is conveniently located. We were lucky to sit by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which displayed a breathtaking view of Seattle. The view added to my enjoyment of the breakfast I had. Shoutout to Michelle for being an attentive server. We ordered a breakfast burrito, which was so delicious, especially with the grilled cheese attached. The breakfast burrito tastes like the quintessential American breakfast, which I personally prefer and ate three times during my visits. The fruit plate had an assortment of in-season fruit, such as berries, pineapples, and melon. This plate was filling and the two of us couldn't finish it, so it is ideal to share among 2+ people. We also ordered the American Breakfast Sandwich, which included potatoes on the side. The sandwich tasted very savory with the mix of eggs and protein. All the servers were attentive and nice to us. The atmosphere was very calm when we ate breakfast. The restaurant is spacious and has picturesque decor. Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Located on the 15th floor of the Lotte Hotel Seattle, the atmosphere alone makes it worth visiting. There are beautiful views from both the dining and lounge areas -- including ocean views from the main seating area and lovely city views from the lounge where we chose to eat. The lounge had a very comfortable and upscale feel with beautiful furniture, a welcoming bar, and a relaxed ambiance that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. The food was excellent, especially the appetizers and meat dishes, and the service was outstanding. The wait staff were incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout the night. What a treat to have breakfast at Charlotte. The views from the 16th floor are incredible. I was seated at a table facing west toward Puget Sound, watching the ferries and ships come and go--a beautiful way to start the day. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between sophisticated and semi-casual, making it feel both elegant and comfortable. The service was spot-on from start to finish--attentive, professional, and perfectly timed without ever feeling intrusive. Amazing food, beautiful venue and a sommelier who is out of this world. Four of us went for a Saturday night dinner. The 16th floor location is overlooking Eliot Bay and has impressive amount of space so you have privacy and can enjoy conversations. We had the chicken, duck, salmon and a veggie dishes. All were perfectly prepared with savory notes emphasized. We ordered some wine and ended up meeting Gin, the sommelier of the restaurant. He gave us so much relevant context to the wine, we selected, let us enjoy a couple extra with glasses while he explained their their stories. Amazing experience on the level of taking a wine class. I want to reduce 1 star for one thing which i did not like it which is when i told a server that "my table is wobbling" which i hate it if i go to fancy place and this happens as a hospitality professional i also know it can be fixed easily by adding a Stabilizer at the bottom. Server said let me see what i can do and he forgot about it so my entire lunch dinning experience was not perfect as everytime i try to cut my food my table was moving up and down. Restaurant was very clean and spacious with a nice centre flower piece and wine glasses around and i liked it as i am a wine guy. Hostess greeted us and asked about how are we doing, where we are from. Got bloody mary to start with which was perfectly garnished came on time. Food was excellent with a great presentation and super hot. I was taking my time to enjoy my food and even after 30 mins my food was still freaking hot which i loved it. I could not finish everything so server offered to pack it for me. Cutlery were marked properly and spotelsss clean before the food came as per the course. Uniforms of the staffs were clean and well hygeine was maintained. Tables were getting reset on time and hostess was helping the server to do it. This has been on my list for a fancy dinner or occasion and got lucky to experience this for my company work gathering. We had brunch here and they had a limited menu of savory and sweet items, ranging from a breakfast burrito and cage free omelet to brioche French toast and buttermilk pancakes. I got the cage free omelet with the choice of Parisian ham, bell red peppers and cheddar cheese. They also had a choice of wild mushroom, kale and fontina and bacon, onion and Gruyère cheese. The potatoes that came along with the omelets were excellent! Really loved these and they were buttery! There was also a side/choice of toast and I got sourdough, 4 slices came with this! I also got the Vanilla Latte which was refreshing! We had a private room and it was beautiful overlooking the views of Seattle that included ferry boats, the smith tower and sports stadiums. Very mid for the price you pay. Went with a group of seven. Service was HORRENDOUSLY slow. It was not full - only the perimeter seats were taken. Twenty minutes went by between ordering and receiving a cocktail. They seemed to have ample staff - it was a mystery why everything took so long. The charcuterie board was nice and the Goddess Caesar was really good. The $68 ribeye was the thinnest I've ever seen. Half an inch or less and lots of gristle (not marbling) Flavorless. Came with very plain mashed potatoes and some good Brussels sprouts. I didn't touch the mushrooms. They looked dried out and awful. Side note - nearly every entree comes with mushrooms in some form which sucks. Two people in our group despise mushrooms - why are they so heavy on the menu? The couple next to us had a small child that they allowed to watch an iPad at maximum volume. Multiple staff members just walked by. Patrons were looking at each other in disbelief. It took another patron from across the room (it was THAT loud) to walk over and ask them to turn it down. A server dropped a bottle of wine on the floor, spilling it. He picked it back up and started serving it to the guests. At the end of our meal, we were told at 20% service charge was already added to the bill, but that was for kitchen staff. If we wanted anything to go to the server, that was extra. Excuse me....what? $1000 bull, $200 service charge, and they want another $200 for the server? No. The desserts were decent. Wasn't sure about the melon and chocolate combo, but the chocolate itself was rich and tasty. The bathrooms are all mirrors with a co-ed hand washing area. Kind of weird, too. Had breakfast here 3 days during our stay and loved everything we tried. Had the chicken and waffles which was delicious and used brown meat for the chicken. Loved that the butter had Korean spice to it and the batter wasn't too heavy. It would have probably benefitted from resting it a bit longer to get more oil off of it and the waffle could use a bit more flavor. Eggs were consistently fluffy. The crab toast with a jammy egg was difficult to eat but delicious and didn't skimp on the crab. The Lotte drink was boozy and delicious and came with a fresh fruit garnish. Service was good--seated almost immediately or you could wait for a table to turn over at the window. But there were lots of options for seats that offered a water view. People seemed to mostly be guest of the hotel and the staff was gracious and asked about peoples activities and remembered guests from previous days. The food when we hosted an event was amazing, and the view wowed our guests. The food when we dined in for lunch was okay. So we're definitely coming back and trying more of the menu. Service was amazing both times. However, I have to give 3 stars because working with their Private Dining & Events Manager Naleisha was like pulling teeth. We hosted a nearly $10,000 event, but working with her was unnecessarily painful. Getting all the useful information I needed required a LOT of back and forth. Scheduling a call with her was difficult, and in the end she was a complete no-show to our meeting! So more emails - over 40 in all. Our event photographer had similar problematic scheduling issues while attempting to schedule a site visit. On the day of our event, we had one unnecessary stress - she failed to pass on that the drinks menu by the bar in the private event space should not have prices visible. Luckily the server was able to whisk it away and print one with no prices. Again, everything worked out in the end, I'll absolutely come back for the food and service (especially our wonderful, dedicated servers during our event), but I can't recommend working with Naleisha to host a private event there. read more

We stayed at the Lotte Hotel, which is a beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms, so it was very disappointing that the restaurant was such a disappointment. Everything we ordered over our stay of three breakfasts was simply bad. I ordered a basic omelet with onions and bell peppers and specifically asked for it to be well done, not runny. It came out awful. Everything inside the omelet tasted premade and with lots of liquid and it was honestly disgusting. The avocado toast didn't look fresh and wasn't appetizing at all. The Greek yogurt parfait was even worse. It tasted completely stale, like something that been forgotten on a pantry shelf for years. The fruit that came with it looked like it belonged in a military or jail cafeteria, not at a luxury hotel. It was mushy and unappealing I didn't even consider eating it. The pastries were also disappointing. They tasted like they had been reheated in a microwave instead of being served fresh, how difficult is it to serve fresh pastries??? that is the basics of what to expect. I really hope the chef reads this review because the breakfast program at this hotel needs a serious reality check. This isn't based on one bad meal it's based on three consecutive mornings of really bad breakfasts. read more

Our service staff was great, appropriate amount of attention. Drinks were off the charts, I will be thinking about the Maya drink for a while, want one everyday. The rest of the meal was mid, not worth the high end prices, they tried, great presentation. I got the sole and just didn't hit the mark, lacked flavor and texture in the dish. My husband got the pork duo and was fine. Again nothing to write home about. Both salads, beet and Cesar, were good. Where they really missed was dessert, we ordered the pear tart. Such a wonderful dinner! My friend had his birthday dinner here. They had booked the private room so all of the guys were going crazy over the view. I didn't take a peak but I could see the waterfront from my seat and it was great. We were seated in the first private room from the dining area. Fairly large space with a couch and tv. Service was so nice. We had one staff tending to our group and he was great! Super patient with us. I started with the salted beet salad and ordered the rock fish as my entree. Both dish were delicious! The salad was so fresh and loved that the dressing wasn't over powering the salad and beets itself. The rock fish was a perfect portion for me. Fish was flaky and buttery at the same time without being fishy. The sauce that was underneath really tied everything together. I had such a great dinner here. A nice space located on the 16th floor of the Lotte Hotel, around the corner from the hotel's front desk. The restaurant and lounge provide excellent views of downtown Seattle and glimpses of Elliott Bay. The HH lounge staff were great and the restaurant front of the house and wait staff were also welcoming. There is a nice ambiance at this place. I noticed on some other recent reviews mentions of slow service,that was not our experience. We started out the evening enjoying happy hour which is a daily thing from 2 - 6 pm at Charlotte. A couple white wines and old fashioneds and Truffle Fries got us going. We then transition to the main dining area to begin dinner. We kept it simple this evening. Starting out with west coast oysters on the half shell (which were delicious by the way). Next up were our entrees. Charlotte offers a Price fixed and A la carte option for dinner. We went with the A la carte choosing the Sautéed Black Cod which included vadouvan crusted black cod, fall squash, chanterelles, kaffir lime jus, and pickled fresno pepper. The cod was moist and delicious and the plating was exceptional. My wife chose the Baked Rockfish which came with preserved lemon beurre blanc, braised potato, fennel confit, and shaved fennel salad. this was another well plated dish. Once again, the Rockfish was moist not overcooked and delicious! Both dishes were seasoned well for our tastes. This is a restaurant to which we will return. Located at the top of the Lotte hotel in downtown Seattle, this place boasts views of the city. The interior is spacious and open, featuring a lounge for casual dining as well as the back half space for more formal meal service. They even have suites you can book. There are limited tables in meal service overlooking the waterfront, so you would want to book reservations and make a note of it if you want one of the more coveted seats. I went here with a friend around 2:30pm to catch up and have a drink, so we chilled at the lounge area, but we were still able to roam around and check out the back half of the restaurant space. We got the daiquiri (from happy hour) and the Violet Femmes (from regular priced signature menu) which is their newer cocktails in honor of Pride. The Violet Femmes was fairly delicious and colorful, but I expected more color than purple and blue if Pride, since I had a drink before at another place in Seattle that literally had rainbow layered colors. $20 before tax and mandatory 20% gratuity is a bit steep, but you are paying a bit of a premium for the nice city views. The drink was good, just not good enough at the price point. Service was decent with some water refills, but a bit uncertain since the service is a bit occasional at the lounge. A lot of times when we've done that some of the dishes miss the mark on taste (favoring presentation over flavor) This was not the case. This is a great spot to meet up for lunch during the work week. My friend and I split the Turkey Panini and Bulgogi Cheese Steak Panini. Both sandwiches were tasty and came with a side of seasoned fries. The turkey panini was perfectly pressed with an appropriate amount of pesto. I've come here a few times for brunch and I've loved it every time! The food is delicious and the views are amazing. If you're able to, I would recommend sitting by the window to enjoy the view while eating breakfast. I've ordered the omelette and brioche french toast and thought both were very good, well-seasoned and well-served. The potatoes that come on the side of the omelette are one of my favorites. It seems like this would be the place to check out during the day! The cocktails weee good! I like The Stone dessert, which was the highlight for me. Didn't take a picture of it, but it literally looked like a rock!!! Not so great: The service was pretty slow, even though it wasn't a full house. The menu came with the greasiest and darkest thumb print stain... which is fine if you want to reuse paper menus, but it was kinda gross. We were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us champagne (we did not order it), and they still charged us $25... we weren't expecting that charge if the restaurant brought it out to us... we paid, but it was disappointing after spending so much on everything else that we did order. I had heard alot of hype about this restaurant, which may have colored my expectations. First, the service was very slow, especially considering the server to guest ratio. Second, the configuration of the restaurant is odd and failed to maximize the view, which is likely a big reason people choose to dine here. Third, the menu is fairly limited but has a varied selection, although some of the flavor pairings are a miss. The dessert selection was disappointing. As someone that loves to celebrate their birthday all month, this is one of the places we came to for dinner! I had only been there once before at the lounge area for the live music, which I really enjoyed! On this occasion for dinner, our server was super sweet, friendly and very attentive! The food was also really good, and presented very nicely! We shared oysters and we each got a steak. I enjoy my steak "blue" and the chef did a great job, as I often end up with more of a medium rare steak. So, I was very pleased. We recently celebrated a special occasion at Charlotte inside the Lotte Hotel. We were treated to a creative and refined twist on classic Korean dishes through a set course menu. The meal began with a black cod croquette, a delicious amuse bouche, then kabocha juk, a velvety pumpkin porridge that was both comforting and elegant. The short rib patty was tender, with familiar flavors presented in an elevated style with a rice puff and a slice of mushroom and pepper. My favorite was the sullungtang gnocchi--a fusion of the traditional beef bone soup with delicate, pillowy gnocchi. It was a new experience to have Korean food presented in this contemporary way. First of all, I'm sad I didn't review this restaurant immediately because I can't remember our servers name, but they were a gem and did the absolute most. We went to Charlotte to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and it was the perfect pick. We valet'ed with the hotel (def suggest) and headed up to enjoy the beautiful view the restaurant has to offer. It's very dark and moody at night. You arrive in the bar first, where there was live music playing. We were treated to hefty pours of complimentary bubbly upon arrival. Started with the tartare which was served with little hash browns and I thought it was amazing. I had the scallops and my hubs the Dino rib and they were both cooked perfectly. We did a chocolate cake for dessert and they also brought out a cute ice cream for our anniversary. If you are looking for an upscale dinner, place with a view, golden hour spot, or a romantic or moody meal, I suggest it for any of those! Off the charts experience or as my granddaughter would say it was a fantabulous! Seattle was a midpoint stop on a West Coast adventure over the NY holiday. Beyond the new year, we had other reasons to celebrate, including my husband's birthday and checking off another state for our retirement goal of to dance in all 50 states. Ambiance - WOW, at the top of a hotel downtown I was brought here by my partner for birthday drinks. When you exit the elevator there is a concierge stand, they direct you to the hostess and you see a lounge at the front with a full bar and comfortable seating. The back end is a restaurant with tables lined against the windows with views of downtown Seattle. I'm sure on a clear day you can see rainier. The vibes are immaculate here. VERY spaced out restaurant so you never feel crowded or even too close to another table. Walls are lined with dozens of wine coolers and books. Service - Michelle was our server and she was amazing. She was so personable, offered recommendations on the menu and even offered to have them craft drinks not on the menu. She was patient, never felt like she needed to rush off to help another table, She even brought over a birthday treat, which was ice cream covered in sprinkles, tell me why it was the best sprinkled ice cream I've ever had?! give her a raise! Food - now we didn't get a chance to try the food, since we were here for drinks, I can't tell you how delicious the drinks were. This is my new favorite cocktail in Seattle. I hate when you go to a craft cocktail spot and spend $20-$30 on a drink and the drinks are mediocre or just bad. Every drink we had was delicious. The stand out being the "buzzed bee in the Baijuu." This was an experience. The drink has a Sechuan "buzz button." Think of it as an intense Sechuan peppercorn. This review is long overdue...I hosted a business dinner here back in May. The restaurant had just swapped out their winter menu for the new spring menu. My experience was a very positive one in terms of event planning and organization. Tevany, Events & Administrative Manager, worked closely with me to plan my event and executed an almost flawless evening. We were seated in the center of the dining room on the top floor of the hotel, so the view was magnificent. I said almost flawless, because the food was not as superb as I had expected. It was good, but not 5-star excellent. My seared local halibut was beautifully executed. The fish was tender and flaky, melted in my mouth. The gem lettuce medley green goddess Caesar, on the other hand, was quite sad. It was essentially half of a red leaf lettuce cut down the middle with some thin radish shavings. The dressing was flavorless. I was extremely disappointed with this salad and wished that I had ordered a different appetizer. My colleagues who ordered the seared foie gras said it was excellent. I was told the parmesan and garlic roasted cauliflower was very tasty as well. Thankfully, my dessert made up for the disappointing salad. The lemon yuzu caramel tart was heavenly. I had a taste of the Araguani chocolate flourless cake and thought it was quite delicious as well! Aside from my sad salad, I had a wonderful time and would recommend this restaurant. Ask for Gene, the resident sommelier for expert recommendations or peruse with the well versed mixologists crafting gourmet cocktails. I stayed at the Lotte Hotel and dined at the restaurant on the 16th floor of the Lotte Hotel on 9/28/24 at 5:45 pm, where the server was fantastic and provided great dish explanations. However, the female hostess was somewhat rude, making me feel uncomfortable. When she asked if I wanted to look at the menu to see if I really wanted to eat there, it felt like an implication that the restaurant was too expensive, which was quite insulting. I had already eaten here before. I ordered the black octopus, beet salad, braised rib, and sea bass--while all the dishes were good, I still left feeling hungry. The restaurant was quite empty, with only four other guests present at the time of seating. Also, fyi, if you book on open table they charge $25 and if you want a view they charge you $50. Considering the restaurant is dead you can just walk in, get seated and pay for only the food. read more
