    Dungeness crab roll

FAVORITE!! Wooooow tho was one of the best falafel plates I've ever had and I'm from LÁ! Something about it. All the sauces/sides were sooo good, my favorite was the purple one (beets I think?). SO GOOD!! Crunchy yet soft falafels. Sooo glad we put this place on our Seattle eats list!! Definitely would be back here when we visit. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The view is also só beautiful!

Before you leave this earth, do yourself a favor and order the pork shank. This dish stopped our whole table mid-conversation and had us flagging down the chef just so we could thank him in person. The pork is fall off the bone tender, the crust is perfectly caramelized, and the miso sauce and pear garnish on the plate tastes like it was designed to make the next bite even better. The combination of flavors is unforgettable, and every pork dish after this will have a lot to live up to.

Dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich and a side of chowder.

Dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich was delicious. Not over buttery like an over oaked Cali chard. More like a White Bordeaux striking a balance between creaminess and acidity. The clam chowder is as good as it gets. Charming room with gorgeous windows that overlook the market.

My coworker chose Matt's in the Market for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were seated at the bar right away with no reservation. It was a hot day and there was no AC, so the temperature was super toasty! The windows had a great view of Pike Place Market and the interior had a classic, old-timey vibe. We skipped drinks and ordered food right away. I wasn't hungry enough for entree, so I chose the Oysters (half dozen) and Heirloom Tomato Salad. The Oysters were on the larger side, and not as briny as I normally prefer. My salad was tasty and refreshing - I loved the mix of fruits and veggies, especially the cherries. My coworker ordered the Pork Shank, which he said was delicious. Service was efficient and all the staff members were friendly. Overall, solid for dinner but definitely on the pricey side!

Had an 11:30 reservation and when they opened the door, staff was ready to greet us with a smile and ready! Service was prompt and attentive without feeling like we were being rushed out the door in a tourist hot spot. Had the clams and mussels which were delicious and very satisfying. The perfect portion size. My partner had the chowder and said it was a bit heavy on the potatoes but loved how fresh the sea food was and that it included a large chunk of fish. It's tucked away in a side building entrance and up 30+ stairs, but the walk up the stairs was totally worth it because you got a great view of Pike Place Market, the crowd and the Pike Place sign. Talk about photo op!

We stopped into Matt's in the Market as walk-ins for lunch and decided to sit at the bar, where we met Dominic, the bartender. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, setting the tone for a great experience. I ordered the fish sandwich, which was outstanding--perfectly cooked and served on bread so light it practically melted in my mouth. The side salad was crisp and refreshing, a great complement to the dish. My husband went with the salmon sandwich, equally delicious and beautifully prepared. Though we only came in for lunch, we kept hearing from others that their dinner is spectacular. Based on our experience, we'll definitely be back to try it. Fresh, flavorful food and exceptional service--this place is an easy recommendation!

Located at Pike Place Market is Matt's In The Market with an ever changing seasonal menu with one of the best service at a restaurant. Known for their seafood. Started off with charcuterie board, grilled octopus, and the beets salad. The octopus was cooked very well and charred nicely. The beets salad was very fresh. For the main entree I got the halibut with the pistachio sauce. That sauce was chef's kiss. The fish was slightly overcooked but the skin was crispy.

Porkstrami - awesome. "Chicken" chowder - good flavor but almost all potato.

Recommend - go. Great location right above the market. Up 2 flights if stairs to level 3 but you're a ove the din and they have a unisex clean, quiet backroom in case you need that. Food was great Homemade potato chips were decadent. They use a fine salt and must apply when still warm as the salty goodness penetrates and is persistent. It sticks and is even throughout. Not sure if they cook em in duck fat or what but deep fried goodness. I had the porkstrami and it was great. Imagine thick bacon as the protein. I needed to add a bit of spicy sauce but I think that's just me. My side of chicken chowder had good flavor but was all potatoes and was a tad off-putting as a result. Wife had the fried chicken Sammy..also great. Her side salad was the star though. Perfect light vinaigrette with toasted pumpkin seeds and fine blue cheese crumbles throughout. Pressed white napkins. Attentive service. Total cost for two with one small side, no drinks and a generous tip for lunch - $80.

Came here for our anniversary. They seated us in the corner window with a great view of the market and sunset. We both had the seafood stew which was a bowl of complete goodness. We started with the scallop appetizer which was a great starter to our main course. Their cocktails were on point, and the service was great. I can't say enough about our experience!

This is a nice little restaurant above one of the fish markets in Pike Place Market. I went to dinner here wish some colleagues who were in town for a work conference. It has a pretty small menu, but my Salmon was tasty and the wine was good.

Creative additions to Deviled eggs *

We hosted a client lunch at Matt's on a Tuesday. It was busy and bustling. I exhibit folks say about the cozy atmosphere--it feels very comfortable and familial, and the large windows overlooking Pike"s pace provide abundant light and unique views. The cuisine is standard seafood comfort food--familiar dishes with a twist. We started with the fried oysters and the deviled eggs. Both were excellent, especially the eggs --each had a creative topping: octopus, kimchi, capers, etc. I was debating between the seafood stew and the Dungeonous crab sandwich. Our server informed me that I could have the best of both worlds: get the sandwich and a side of the stew for a small up-charge: done!! I thoroughly enjoyed both. Lots of crab on the sandwich; a generous portion. The stew was excellent and just enough of a taste. One of my clients had the burger, which looked absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place: a tourist view with local's cuisine and away from the madness in the market.

First trip to Seattle and Matt's was highly recommended. Amazing farm to table food and excellent service!!!

We had a wonderful lunch here when we're in Seattle @ the Pike Place Market. The place has a nice view of the market and the street below. Good service, great & delis foods and cocktails. Glad we stoped by this place with the kids.

My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

I was so sad when I got down to the last bite lol As for the Russet French Fries, they were perfectly seasoned and just the right size. I especially enjoyed dipping them into the Fermented Chili Aioli. To which I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't actually spicy, given that I do have a pretty low spice tolerance lol. UPDATE 2/22/26 I see that Vince U (Yelper right before us) deleted his comments about not receiving a rose and thought maybe it was Violet being possibly biased against gay couples. I understand why it was deleted but wanted to give context around my first paragraph above. We were very underwhelmed by the prix menu for Valentines dinner. I noticed Vince U did not take a picture of the lamb, which was about the size of a half-dollar coin, if anyone remembers what those are LOL. Yes the two bites of lamb was decent but nothing to write home about. Agreed, the Risotto was very delicious indeed, salmon was great, chocolate desert was very, very good, otherwise the rest was OK. But I wouldn't agree to understanding the assignment, for us. I had the wine flight and I love a good wine. These were all OK wines. I get it, you have to watch your costs and make a good profit, to which I totally agree. I wish we would have tried Violet our first time for the regular menu. I'm guessing we would have rated 4 or 5 stars more than likely. For a bill of $400+ (including a great tip because we love to support) we felt like we were almost ripped off. I get it, it's a special occasion and lots of work goes in to these things but walking out of there $400+ poorer really made us feel bad, from a value perspective. We never mind paying for value, but this was not it and did not hit the mark for us.
