Definitely a nice spot with a good look at the sunset of your there at the right time with a window table. Staff were solid and very helpful with the menu. I got the confit pork shank which was one of the best meals I've had all year. The meat fell off the bone and the pear and chili oil made it explode in your mouth. 10/10 could not recommend more. We also got a charcuterie app which wasn't your typical board. The meats were good especially the sausage and mustard. Getting there can be a little confusing. We came here for lunch and had 2 cornmeal catfish sandwiches. Chowder was amazing. Catfish was also nice but the sliced rye bread it was served on was very soft and made it difficult to eat and was falling apart. Otherwise flavors were all great. Our server was friendly and everything went smooth. We did have a 130pm reservarion, arrived at 132pm and were told to sit wait, and then seated about 4-5 minutes later. Not the best dinner spot for a vegetarian. I was disappointed that there's only one vegetarian option, with the vague title of "vegetarian entrée" on the menu. It turned out to be a sample platter of the sides from the other entrees, plus 2 falafel with hummus. I'm not sure why the menu doesn't just say that. The falafel were so crispy I had difficulty cutting them with a knife, and the insides were so dry. The hummus was probably fine but had some sort of tomato or red pepper topping that overcomplicated it. My favorite was the potato gnocchi with brussel sprout sample. I would have preferred that as the entire entree. That said, the beet salad was delicious. And the pistachio gelato with sea salt chocolate chip cookie really saved the meal for me. The service at dinner for a larger group was very attentive and accommodating. Overall, this seems like a nicer restaurant option in the Market but I wish there were more options available on the menu for vegetarians. read more

Food was great Homemade potato chips were decadent. They use a fine salt and must apply when still warm as the salty goodness penetrates and is persistent. It sticks and is even throughout. Not sure if they cook em in duck fat or what but deep fried goodness. I had the porkstrami and it was great. Imagine thick bacon as the protein. I needed to add a bit of spicy sauce but I think that's just me. My side of chicken chowder had good flavor but was all potatoes and was a tad off-putting as a result. Wife had the fried chicken Sammy..also great. Her side salad was the star though. Perfect light vinaigrette with toasted pumpkin seeds and fine blue cheese crumbles throughout. Pressed white napkins. I have had this spot saved for years and my mom and I finally tried this spot for a weekday lunch on a gorgeous Seattle day. We were lucky enough to get seated. We ordered the crab roll and the pastrami sandwich. At first we were thinking of splitting the pastrami sandwich and a salad, but when I saw how much crab was in the crab roll, I had to order it. At $36, it was a generous amount of crab that was served in it and it was dungeness crab on top of it! It was the perfect ratio of mayo and the nice crunch of celery. The buttered roll was a perfect vehicle for it. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and I have had some great pastrami while living in New York. The side salads with it, were huge! It was not just your regular old side salad, it had a fantastic vinaigrette with pumpkin seeds and blue cheese. Absolutely worth it getting the side salad. The dinner menu is very different than the lunch menu and looks a bit more upscale. Lunch here might be a little more expensive than other spots around pike place but this one is definitely worth it. read more

We hosted a client lunch at Matt's on a Tuesday. It was busy and bustling. I exhibit folks say about the cozy atmosphere--it feels very comfortable and familial, and the large windows overlooking Pike"s pace provide abundant light and unique views. The cuisine is standard seafood comfort food--familiar dishes with a twist. We started with the fried oysters and the deviled eggs. Both were excellent, especially the eggs --each had a creative topping: octopus, kimchi, capers, etc. I was debating between the seafood stew and the Dungeonous crab sandwich. Our server informed me that I could have the best of both worlds: get the sandwich and a side of the stew for a small up-charge: done!! I thoroughly enjoyed both. The entrance is near the pike place sign and located up on the third floor of the building. We ordered the seafood stew which had multiple types of fish, clams, mussels and scallops. The broth was very flavorful while not being too overpowering and the bread soaked up all the flavors very well. My family really enjoyed having lunch at Matt's in the Market due to location it's understandably its favored by tourists. However, locals favoring fresh ingredients will quickly grow an appreciation for the rotating seasonal chalkboard menu as feature dishes change throughout the course of the day based on ingredient availability. Jermey, and Abagail yielded excellent service I felt like I was amongst old acquaintances. Everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic, and the atmosphere was exactly how one would expect having lunch on a rainy cool day at Pike Pl would be (cinematic/Sleepless in Seattle.) I highly recommend planning ahead and making a reservation, provide a proper headcount and give the team an idea of your have a preference of where you would like to sit so they can best accommodate and plan ahead for the guests following your visit. We were walk-ins with no reservation so we sat at the bar. Next time I will take the "kitchen view" option as the old timey cute barstools were rather annoying after 1/2 an hour. We were served a deliciously spicy bloody Mary per request. I love when there is pickled green beans involved. The seafood chowder was large, hot and full of potatoes. It should be called potato soup. This is the reason for the three stars vs. four star review. We were recommended the pastrami sandwich made with pork and magic. It was delicious.
