We ordered take out via DoorDash for pick up on a Friday night and it was the worst experience yet. It was my first time at Charm Thai Bistro and will probably be my last. I ordered at 5:30pm and received an email at 5:56pm that my order was ready for pick up-- It stated to skip the line and go straight to the pick up counter. It is a small place and they only allowed two customers in at a time which created a line outside in below 10 degrees weather. I waited nearly 30 minutes outside to finally go in to realize my order wasn't even at the pick up counter as it stated it was... I waited an additional 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge me INSIDE the restaurant. I was finally able to grab an employee's attention after she got off the phone and I was later informed my order JUST "came in," meanwhile I got the notification 50-55 minutes ago that my order was ready. Her response was "we are too busy." I get it, you're busy but I should have never gotten an alert saying my order was ready at 5:56pm if it really wasn't even after waiting 30 minutes outside and 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge me waiting at the front counter.. The employee insisted I wait and since I ordered through DoorDash it was much slower. Apparently the restaurant can only stall drivers but not customer pickups... Regardless, I should not have been told my order was ready if it really wasn't whether I am the driver or pick up customer. By this time it had been well OVER an hour since I got the alert saying my order was ready and she could not guarantee she was able to rush the order, so I insisted she cancel my order but she told me she couldn't... We came to the agreement that it'll take 10 additional minutes so I waited in the car to allow other customers to go in. She brought it out to my car in an additional 20 minutes. We ordered the following: -Massaman Curry $14.95 -Mango Fried Rice Dinner with White Rice $13.95 -Pad See-U Dinner with Crispy Chicken $13.95 -Tom Yum with Shrimp $5.00 -Thai Ice Tea $3.95 -Pad Thai Dinner with Crispy Chicken $13.95 When I got home there was a leak from the Massaman Curry dish that spilled all over the brown paper bag causing the bag to rip. The Thai tea also spilled all over the plastic bag as well. Their take out packaging needs improvement. We were really excited about this place after reading these reviews here on Yelp, but we were disappointed as the food was just okay and average. Our favorite dish we ordered was the Massaman Curry and of course that was the one affected. The Mango Fried Rice only came with 4 pieces of mango and the mangos were bad. The dish was interesting and we were not fans. The Pad See-U had no taste. We were a fan of the Tom Yum with Shrimp but just a tad bit salty for our liking. They were a bit stingy with the shrimp. The Thai ice tea was good but again, really poor packaging as it leaked all over the bag. Lastly, the Pad Thai with Crispy Chicken was super average. All the dishes that consisted of chicken didn't have any flavor. The chicken was super bland and dry as if they made the chicken a while ago in bulk and reheated it when a dish required it. Moral of the story, do not order from DoorDash as a pick up customer or expect to wait past your "order is ready," alert. Also, do not get your hopes up for this place because the food was super average. However, I do recommend the Massaman curry, Tom Yum, and Thai Ice Tea! There were some parking spots outside which were helpful. Overall, 2 out of 5 stars. This situation was handled so poorly and the food was okay. First and last time here.

I was craving a mean pad Thai. Though not recent, the Yelp reviews for this dish were great, stating that it is flavorful and came in a large portion. I typically order from another Thai place around the corner but I was feeling adventurous to try something new. We ordered online early on a Saturday to beat the rush and it was literally ready in 10 minutes. I was happy to see contactless pick up. Now, about the pad thai---I would agree with the first review about the flavor. Oftentimes pad Thai dishes can be clumpy and lack flavor, but it was a yummy, peanuty dish with accents of scallions and bean sprouts. I ordered the crispy chicken, which looks like chicken fingers sliced up and out on top, so that was weird. Though they tasted good, it didn't see to fit. I don't know what I was expecting, but it seemed like two different elements in one container. In terms of the portion, it was average. I'll get two meals out of it. Hubby ordered the mango curry and gave it 3.5 out of 5. He said the sauce was too thin and the chicken to vegetable ratio was poor. However, it had good flavor. We also ordered the spring rolls. They were just fine to me, but my husband liked that they weren't greasy. The inside was a bit too mushy to me. It came with a light dipping sauce that I wish was a little spicier. Overall, we'd give a 3.5 if we could. Good flavor, but just missing that little something to make the dishes cohesive. I'll try the regular chicken pad thai next time to see if that's what was missing. Give it a try!

Charm Thai has a great menu of selections. Their many variations on Pad Thai is a favorite of ours coupled with their spicy crab Rangoon is the BEST. I also love their Thai tea to pair with a meal. They are always extremely polite and quick with their orders, needing only 5-10 minutes typically (we have smaller orders). They have some authentic desserts as well that we have tried and enjoyed too. Overall I would recommend them highly! read more

absolute FAVORITE thai place! Never disappoints, great service and generous portions (for very reasonable prices!) You must try the spicy crab rangoon, which is perfectly spiced, never greasy, and comes with a great pineapple sauce. Our other favorite dishes are the tom yum soup (it's spicy) and the signature basil pad thai. read more

Wanted to grab something fast and tasty. Ended up here - small sitting area with 3 tables. Tried Basil Fried Rice with shrimp ($3 extra), but this was pretty good. Also tried Angry fisherman - which we did not like - it was more curry like and everything had a very fishy taste... Asked Sania if we could change it for something more like Basil Fried Rice and she recommended Sea Sriracha. This was great! Overall a great experience with the two dishes and were given free scallion pancakes as well as our order was over $30 (coupon in menu). Appreciate the fact that Sania let us exchange for something more to our liking. We would go back there for Sea Sriracha and Basil Fried Rice and of course the service! read more

My boyfriend and I order from here every two weeks. It's amazing! Always hot and the delivery is always fast. I tried the crab Rangoon tonight and it was hands down the best I've ever had. I wish they would expand and offer more of a restaurant style venue though! We would love to come in and enjoy our favorites while having a nice glass of wine! read more

They may have the best pad thai I've tried around Wakefield. I love the dish but I can't find a decent place that serves this well, so I was pleasantly surprised. It had the just the right amount of heat, saltiness, and sweetness in the dish. My wife got the basil fried rice and that was great too. We took a chance after reading many of the reviews here praising their pad thai -- believe the hype! Their pad thai is delicious! read more

1 hour and 15 mins for delivery is ridiculous when you live a mile away. Will probably go to other local joints like Taste of Siam that can deliver equivalent quality for most of my favorite dishes with much better delivery time. read more

Eversince charms opened. It became my regular go-to spot for take outs. Foods yummy,reasonable price and portions very big. Big plus is ppl who works there is very nice. It is small family business and they always greet you with big smile! read more

Unfortunately, something bad has happened to Charm's food. I used to order delivery from them very regularly and it was great. But my last 3 orders in a row the quality of the food was suddenly much worse. In particular the spring rolls, which I used to love, became inedible, filled only with slimy bad tasting cabbage. So sadly I will not be ordering from them any more. read more

I don't know what happened, but in the past the food was great! The woman who took our order was very kind and accommodated "extra noodles". We were regulars at this place for drunken noodles. After we moved up north, we haven't eaten here as much as we used to, so we ordered from here maybe every month, then a few months later, and now almost year later. Food was not as it used to be and the woman is very snippy. I don't think it is worth the drive now to come here. read more

I brought some home for my mother who loves Thai food and she said it's the best Thai she's ever had. I recommend anything on the menu but i love the mango curry chicken! read more

I would give Charm Thai a 4.5 if I could (Yelp, please get on that). My experience started off on shaky ground because the delivery man was extremely rude and unpleasant but thankfully it was only uphill from there. I ordered the Spicy Basil Pad Thai and was pleasantly surprised- it was far superior in terms of flavor, spice, quantity and freshness than I expected. The Wonton Soup was pretty mediocre but the real banger was the Crying Tiger. Do not underestimate this dish- it's packed full of spice and after a certain point, becomes inedible. It was absolutely delicious but so painful to eat that you aren't able to enjoy it as much as you should. Overall, the food was extremely tasty, pretty authentic and I will definitely be a repeat customer! read more

Delivery driver had very simple directions and called me about 20 times trying to find me. Called me yelling and mumbling under his breath. When he finally got here he was a jerk and acted like it was my fault he couldn't follow simple directions. Shaken his head then speeding off in a family place with children around. I like the food but that was terrible service. read more

I am sitting here waiting for my food. I ordered at 6:41 and it is currently 8:35. I was promised the food would be here under 1 hour. From the simple math above, the food will take over 2 hours (hopefully as it could take over a day... we shall see). 2 whole miserable hours!!! How is this even possible? Further if it's going to take a long time, be up front. Never ordering from this place again. read more

The food was really good. Ordered delivery and the food arrived 30 minutes later. Duck noodle soup tasted like what I had in Thailand. The noodle was perfect, not too soft and not too hard, and the soup was delicious! My friend ordered chicken garlic and brown rice and he loved it. Strongly recommended! read more

Really, really good! 4.5 stars in my book. This place must be relatively new -- I don't recall seeing it before in my list of delivery options. Had some yummy fresh rolls, drunken noodles, and Pad See Ew delivered tonight. Competitive prices and very good quality. The food had a fresh and flavorful taste that many other restaurants around here often lack. Took about an hour for the food to arrive -- a little long but not unreasonable. Will definitely order from here again. read more

Place is new, but has been many Chinese take out joint that never last. I think Charm may change that trend. They off a fresh menu, the food is very good and reasonably priced. It is real a take out, they have a couple tables but not my style of dining. We had the Pad Thai with fresh spring rolls and it was very good. We will order dinner again soon. read more

I love this soup I can drink it all day. Thai iced tea is also 10/10! Tastes super fresh and authentic, a must try drink. The beef eggplant dish was not good. Lacked flavor and color. The eggplant was super rubbery and the beef was dry and tough. I didn't like it at all. I also got a side of rice which was a lot more fluffier than the rice that came with the beef eggplant dish?? Idk what was going on there but the rice that came with the dish was too dry. Overall I did not have a good delivery experience and it is also my first time trying this place. I would've just kept the soup and iced tea and dumped everything else if I didn't have to pay so much for it.

We sat for about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table, and when a server finally arrived, drinks were rushed out and it felt like we were pressured to place our food order immediately. One member of our group is gluten-free, and while they did offer a gluten-free menu, it lacked creativity and felt like an afterthought compared to the regular menu. We also didn't feel confident that the allergy was taken seriously. The server didn't ask many questions or clearly communicate any precautions regarding cross-contamination, which is something we've experienced at many other restaurants. The food itself was okay, but nothing memorable. The gluten-free chicken and vegetables were extremely bland and lacked flavor. The chicken also seemed undercooked, which was concerning. We ordered four different sushi rolls, and overall I'd rate the sushi about a 5/10. The spicy edamame leaned much sweeter than spicy, although some people may enjoy that flavor profile. The crab rangoons were decent but nothing special. Throughout the meal, service continued to be lacking. We never received a check-in after our food was delivered and had to flag down our server multiple times just to get water refills. The lack of attentiveness from the staff was frustrating, especially considering the prices. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but it was very loud, making conversation difficult at times. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, but it certainly didn't justify the cost. Unfortunately, it's not a place I'd recommend to friends, and I don't see myself returning.

We only tried the typical Chinese food - maybe the sushi and duck are better. And, disclaimer, we did get takeout; it was not fresh at the table. It was so greasy and heavy. There was a lot of onion flavor in everything. Probably the worst fried rice I've had in a long time. Chicken fingers and spring rolls were close to average. I was told the Pad Thai was also not very good. I will not be returning.

The two of us ordered to share 干扁四季豆 spicy green beans ($15.95), 泡椒牛肉 / shredded beef w. pickled pepper ($19.95), and 水煮鱼片 braised fish fillets w. chili sauce ($17.95). The 幹扁四季豆, a regional classic, possessed impressive amounts of smoky 鍋氣 / wok-hei, melding disparate salty and savory flavors together. The pickled mustard offered crunchy texture contrast. The 泡椒牛肉 remained unchanged from my previous visit - a decent sauteed beef dish with a slight hint of spice and slight acidity to contrast other, heavier dishes. The 水煮鱼片 proved underwhelming. The braising liquid only imparted slight amounts of spicy, as evidenced by its brackish color. It imparted equally little flavors - the fragrance of chili oil and sharpness of peppercorn seemed notably absent. Overall, I would still return to Sei Bar. I know to skip the 水煮鱼片 next time.
