    Banh Xeo
    Janet G.

Small restaurant with a mom and pop vibe! Wide variety of food options ranging from pho to Indonesian fried rice to thai curries. Our servers were quick and attentive, despite it being busy on a Sunday afternoon. We got banh xeo, banh mi chien tom, pho dac biet, and soy garlic chicken wings with a side of fries. The banh xeo didn't have a lot of flavor and was a bit disappointing. However, the banh mi chien was crispy and a good mix of sweet and savory. We shared a large pho dac biet which came with a lot of broth and noodles, and left us very stuffed. The chicken wings were a bit too fried to my liking, but the fries were nicely fried. Also, they don't take Amex but they accept Apple Pay.

Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio with beef tenderloin and fish sauce

Not alot of street parking. Inside looks crammed. Ordered Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio with beef tenderloin. Not the best bun I've had. Beef was kind of dry and it doesn't have the grill marks and taste that I am use to for bun at other viet restaurants. Not bad by any means but I know other restaurants have done it better. Overall, this spot is not exactly in a good location imo because of the parking situation. Doesn't seem like a spot i would dine in neither. Food is mid compared to other viet spots just based on the bun.

Great pho, very reasonable prices. Decent service, I wouldn't recommend any of the appetizers tho. Crab rangoon was bad, dumplings were worse. So stick to the noodle soups and you should be good I guess.

Customer service was terrible. First, they messed up on my order and had me driving back to grab a different one. Then, once I came back home the second time I come to realize that there was no noodle for the pho so I had to call them back which I didn't get any refund and was requested to come back for the third time. Food quality was so so and didn't taste authentic. Wouldn't recommend this place due to poor quality + terrible customer service.

I been having delicious take outs here in the past year since I moved up to the area. It doesn't look much from the outside and interior but the food is definitely authentic and tasty. The prices are quite fair as well. I usually get their Dac Biet but last time their Bun Bo Hue has proven to be really good. Although I have to say for noodle soups definitely worth your time eating it there fresh. The noodle tends to curl up a in separate container and the soup taste much better reheated when you get home. However these setbacks does not affect their excellent food qualities. Its a little hassle to find parking around the street but normally there are spots on the same street.

Ordered a $18 salmon dish only to get this small piece of fish. The sticky rice was either old or undercooked.

It has bar seating area and table dining as well. The restaurant is one of the more modern decorated Vietnamese restaurants compared to traditional mom and pop's Vietnamese restaurants that I am used to. I appreciate the vietbamese street scene mural that they have going and I appreciate their effort and attention to detail. For appetizer, we ordered the Vietnamese fish sauce fried chicken wings. It was very good! This is a must! Sadly, they didn't have the betel leaves beef/pork skewer. I will have to come back another time. For entree, I ordered pho while my husband ordered the bun cha Ha Noi, and my kids shared the rice plate with pork chop and fried egg. My pho broth was very clear, and very light in flavor. It was very reminiscent of how my mother would make her pho, very subtle flavors and with wide pho rice noodles. Long's pho I would say is more akin to Northern Vietnamese pho so if you're looking for more salty and fragrant pho, this might not be for you. I love additional pickled vinegar garlic slices that are available at each table as well. I have never seen this at any Vietnamese restaurant in MA. The bun cha Ha Noi, the was good, but I would try something other next time. The rice plate we ordered had pork chops, fried eggs, and what was supposed to be pork skin, however, the pork skin was not up to standard so the owner replaced it with grilled chicken for us. Pork chops were a little over cooked. They are still very new. I think playing some music will help with the kitchen banter. Service was friendly and fast. Food came out at a very good pace. I feel like their drinks and appetizers menu might be the place to start if you're not adventurous. I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes. See my pictures!

Vietnamese cuisine is traditionally rooted in affordability, sharing an abundance of food, and enjoying good laughs with great company. By trying to force the concept into a high-end parallel, it just ends up feeling mediocre and hollow. The value simply isn't there--a single appetizer, one main entree, and three refreshments came out to a whopping $105. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly judgmental. Because our party of three only ordered that amount, the staff pretty much ignored us for the rest of the night after taking the order. The awkwardness started the absolute second we sat down. Before we could even settle into our chairs or get handed a menu, the waiter demanded to know what we wanted to drink. When we asked to see a menu first, he looked completely confused as to why we'd need one. After another staff member finally took our order, we sat there waiting for what felt like an eternity. When the food eventually arrived, they gave us sharing plates and chopsticks. We asked for a spoon to properly eat the claypot rice, and the waiter gave us another judging look. As Asians, we obviously know how to use chopsticks, but you objectively need a spoon to scoop the claypot SAUCE out of the pot! The ones from Banh Mi Cafe are enormous, sooo fresh, and exactly what I wish mine tasted like. Both the fish sauce and the peanut sauce are excellent, and when I need to bring something to a summer potluck but don't have time to cook, I just order six orders of spring rolls and suddenly everyone at the potluck is happy. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is also absolute jet fuel. It's my go-to whenever I need to work a late night. But the reason I'll always be loyal to Banh Mi Café has nothing to do with the food. ::IT'S STORYTIME:: One evening I developed an absolutely irrational craving for their avocado smoothie with boba. I spent the whole day thinking about it, finally placed an online order, and then got a phone call saying they had just run out. They apologized and offered a replacement or a refund. Instead, I asked them a weird question: "I know this is kind of crazy...but if you'll have avocado again on Saturday, could you just make this exact order then instead, and I'll come pick it up?" To my surprise, they said yes. A couple of days later, I picked up my avocado smoothie, my fresh spring rolls, and went home happy. Maybe it was more work than it was worth for the employee, maybe it wasn't; either way, they took an odd request seriously, and that's the kind of customer service that sticks with you. Beyond the spring rolls, I've also really enjoyed the nem chua, the cold cut banh mi (I wish the bread were a little softer, but the condiments and veggies are excellent), and the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves, which I hadn't tried before and now LOVE. I still have a growing list of desserts to work through, including the flan. One thing to know before you go, regarding ambiance: this is more of a grab-and-go spot, not somewhere to settle in for lunch. There are only a few bar seats, so I almost always take my food with me, sometimes to the nearby park. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants around Boston, and while I'll always happily try new ones, Banh Mi Cafe has earned my loyalty, one avocado smoothie at a time.
