Sadly to say I'm a little disappointed in this place. The interior is very cool where it features American diner style but serves homemade Thai food. This is one of those "hidden gem" spots that you recommend to all your friends but then you worry if the place gets too popular you won't get a seat anymore. So yes, you're welcome. Don't abuse it. This is exactly what it looks like... a Thai restaurant run out of an old Worcester Lunch Car diner. There's about five tables and bar seating for another ten or so. The menus are inkjet printed and offered in vinyl sleeves, and there's a specials menu. Inside you'll find the classics- Thai curries, noodle dishes, noodle soups, appetizers, Thai desserts. Service is friendly and informal, the drinks come out of the fridge behind the counter. I've had a few items from the menu, and everything's been great... baa mee huang, tom kha gai, spicy noodle soup. Golden bags are actual bags made of egg roll wrapper tied up and fried, which is neat. Fresh rolls came with peanut sauce, and the scallion pancakes were crispy and legit. I find they err on the mild side of spicy coming out of the kitchen, but there's a jar of chili paste they're happy to share if you ask. Parking is a little bit of a challenge on Main St, but I don't think CVS is on to me yet so I'm going to keep quietly parking in the back of their lot and walking over. All in all, it's a chill place to eat delicious food and hang out with like minded folk. Whether you want to soak in the competing Southeast Asia and retro 50's vibes, or just bury your nose in your phone and shovel coconut curry in your face, that's up to you. read more

OMG! This place was awesome!!! Came here for lunch and what a gem! Love the atmosphere and decor of a small diner. Service was excellent and the food was so fresh and delicious. Parking is a bit trickery because of the location. We actually parked in the CVS parking lot and walked across. But definitely if in the area make sure to stop in. I stumbled upon LTD via YELP and thought it looked interesting. We the people seem to universally love train-car diners but always associate these with greasy-spoon places with breakfast and comfort foods. But LTD is Thai. And not just any ole' Thai. It's wicked dynamite Thai, bro. I took my One here and we parked my buggy right out front and went in this teenie chrome diner and there was only one table occupied and a woman at the counter. Good vibes abounded from the kitschy décor and staff alike. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered two Thai Teas, Shrimp Dumplings, Chicken Satay, Chicken Coconut Soup, Pad Thai, and the Special. All food was made to order, reasonably priced and had great flavor. I must emphasize this was not your run-of-the-mill labor-saving premade food with arbitrary cheap-O ingredients. LTD is not the same ole' meh Thai you've had a million times at the many meh Thai places you've been. First of all, LTD is very generous size-wise and meat-wise. I'm sure all you YELPers have been served dishes that are obviously just skimpy on the meat big time in order to save money. This is both a bummer and leaves you feeling ripped off and foolish. This may sound piggish but it really is lame when places literally give three or four teenie bite-size meat pieces and call it "Chicken this" or "Beef that" and charge big bucks to boot. That's no bueno. Skimping on meat is definitely NOT part of the milieu here at LTD and this scores stars wicked big time. The satay here were wicked huge with great grilled flavor and everything was piping hot since it was all freshly cooked. The sauces were all tasty and homemade. Our entrees were excellent and the peanut flavoring was great with subtle "mystery" flavors as well. The soup was great with lots of big bird chunks. No reheated leftovers here or perfunctory preparation. LTD is wicked good MTO cooking by wicked cool peeps who take a wicked lot of pride in making wicked dynamite Thai food, bro. Very cool place to dine in. I signed the check with a giant pen from the waiter and left a near-giant tip! Highly recommended if you're in The Woo or nearby. read more

We went early on a Saturday and were one of the only 2 tables. The chef and waiter were talking amongst themselves and blatantly laughed at me and made a huge joke of me chugging a glass of water. Minus how rude they were by thinking I wouldn't understand them and doing it so blatantly in front of me..the food was pretty bland. Our favorite eat-in Thai. This place is an absolute FAVORITE of the offspring. Whenever they have a friend stay with us, Lanna Thai is the destination of choice. Owner is friendly and honest--he'll tell you when mango is out of season; he'll tell you what's especially good that day. In fact, I don't order anymore; I let HIM take care of it. Added bonus: If for some reason the diner is closed (vacation, Monday, whatever), the super-tasty hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese Pho is right across the street (indeed, we'd eat there more often if it weren't so close to Lanna Thai!). Wow this place was a surprise. In town for work and was hungry for Thai. None of the options looked great but we were closest to this one. Everything we had was amazing. I love Thai and am a pretty good critic. This was exceptional. Red curry, crazy noodles, a native broccoli dish, all were amazing. One tip: the medium is like a 2/10 for spice. I would have liked it much spicier. Also, it looks like a 1970s diner built on a train car. They also don't serve alcohol because of their proximity to a school. Try it out! read more

Coming here for years (even though it is several towns away) and Max and crew never disappoint. If we lived closer we eat at Lanna Thai multiple times a week! Make sure you get in early to avoid waiting in the queue. The place gets packed during lunch,Friday night's and weekends. Over the top most delightful and delicious Thai restaurant located in a classic, authentic, and incredibly well preserved and very well maintained diner, simply charming. I order lunch at least twice a week from this place for the amazing food and also to support the business. Being such a tiny place, their revenue has shrunk by 80-90% since Covid. I had been here several years ago and recently went back when I was in the area. The atmosphere was super cute and very unique for a Thai restaurant. The only thing about it is it's very tiny. As we dined in, there were many people coming in and out for takeout. I can see why as the food was very delicious. My mom and I shared pad Thai and vegetable fried rice. It was pretty standard Thai food, really good. My boyfriend tried one of the curry dishes and also enjoyed it. Overall this place was great~ the only downsides were the small size of the inside and also the lack of help. But I would recommend and certainly come back for takeout! read more

Absolutely delicious!! Already can't wait to go back. Went here with my family for dinner on a Friday night. The place is tiny, but don't let that turn you away. From the second you walk in, you know the food is going to be good. They were wicked busy while I was there, and because of this the food was a little slow and not all entrees came out at the same time. But they were worth the wait. All of the food tasted home made and was better than I'd ever had elsewhere. Very authentic! For a party of 5, and ordering appetizers, our bill was only $90. Came to Lanna Thai on the recommendation of family members who live in the area and come here so often that the owner recognizes them whenever they come in. The place really is in an old diner (hence the name) and with limited seating, you might consider coming in earlier or later than usual, or getting takeout like we did. I had the pad ka prow (spicy basil) with tofu and it was fantastic. Considering the price, the portion was good but fair warning that it might not be enough if you're really hungry. Consider grabbing an appetizer or soup. The taste, though, was delicious and I'd definitely recommend adding Lanna Thai to your list of dinner/takeout spots! read more

Our first takeout was fantastic from beginning to end, but sadly they had a kitchen fire that same night that shut them down for a whole year! This review is for takeout dinner. Decor - 1 star. It's obvious that thy took over an old diner and just changed the sign. The rest is still screaming old diner. Service - 3 stars. I phoned in my order for take out and there was a minor language barrier. I wanted entree number 64 but the waiter kept saying 54. He finally got it after I repeated 4 times. Food - 3 stars. I had better Thai food elsewhere. This place is ok. We asked for extra extra extra spicy and didn't really get the burnt my face off experience. We were quite disappointed that dinner entrees do not come with rice. I had to make a second trip to pick up rice. Not nice. Overall the food seems pricey for the quality they offer, but especially when rice isn't included. read more

Still excellent and a personal favorite. I get lunch take out here a few times per month. Usually the spicy pad Thai. Max knows me and remembers me and my name when I call and pickup. This is appreciated. The lunch is always delicious and consistent. I now love bean sprouts (they remind me of pea pods in the spring, picked off the garden vine) and understand why they are added to this wonderful dish.
