Amazing food! Awesome staff. Sushi and other food all amazing. My family and I go here often and never disappointed. The owner is so friendly and makes you feel like a family member. During the first stages of the pandemic, the owners were more worried about making sure people were fed over making a profit. She discounted her food and stayed open late. My fiancé & I tried this place for the first time tonight. We ordered the Charming Spicy which was their version of General Taos. It was pretty yummy! I loved the sauce. We also got the Tokyo Maki & the Shaggy Dog. Both were delicious! I wish we would have ordered more sushi. I'm actually pretty excited to come back & try more of their sushi. The staff were very friendly, helpful & very attentive. Food came out very quickly. The only thing I didn't care for was their wasabi. I love wasabi but theirs had no kick. One star for ambience because it looks classy inside for Crosby, and one star for the fried rice. The sushi was barely passable. The roll was sliced so thick I could barely fit a slice in my face. Presentation was less than average. The fish on top and inside was poorly cut. The roll looked really big so I was excited when it arrived, but it was mostly rice inside. It was very dry and flavorless. Chicken appetizer was flavorful but over cooked. Miso soup was very good, but it's hard to screw that up. Fried rice was the highlight, so if I come back I'll opt for Chinese dishes to see if they're any better. Overall, I'm disappointed given the good reviews. read more

Chinese and Japanese food in a strip mall in Crosby, Texas? Sounds like a recipe for failure. So, when my shift partners suggested here, I came in a bit reluctant. The menu was an interesting hodgepodge of Chinese and Japanese entrees as well as sushi. The service was friendly and efficient. My very pedestrian entree of sweet and sour chicken was perfect. A great tempura batter crust, some pineapple bits, and the sauce on the side made an ordinary dish into a surprisingly good rendition of the food. My partners both had a variety of entrees, all of which came out hot, fresh, and looked significantly more upscale than the standard strip mall Chinese place. This place isn't Asian Fusion. It's a great small town restaurant that seems to execute both Chinese and Japanese well. I'll be back. read more

I called in an order, picked it up and went back to work. While I'm eating my salad I find a ROACH. So I called up there and told them about it and she said if it's a roach then basically I put it in there. She wouldn't let me talk to a manager. And kept insisting "they don't have roaches." I really like Charming Cafe! This is a hidden gem - tucked away in a shopping center on 2100 in the small Texas town of Crosby, you wouldn't expect to find such a good Asian restaurant! But Charming is always good. It's not the best Asian food I've ever had, but I am glad that the only Asian in the area is actually really yummy. I almost always order the Charming spicy with tofu and vegetables and am never disappointed. You can dine in or you can get take out. The people are friendly, the place is clean and the food is solid. Never too packed any time I've been here, but I am really glad that it's lasted for a few years because when it first opened I wasn't sure if Crosby would give it the business it deserved over the crawfish and barbecue around town. Charming Cafe provide excellent, non-buffet Chinese cuisine and sushi ... not something you'd expect to find in Crosby. While I'm not a "sushi guy," everyone I've been there with has been very pleased and the prices are very reasonable. The sushi bar is well kept and allows for diners there solely for sushi to interact with the sushi chef. As far as the rest of their menu, it provides a solid cross-section of Chinese favorites. Some of their better appetizers include the pan-fried dumplings, tempura veggies, and the yakitori. Some of their best entrees include the steak teriyaki, the pepper steak, and my personal favorite, the "Charming Spicy" which is their take on General Tso's Chicken ... it's my favorite of any Asian restaurant outside the Loop. They do have some pleasant inexpensive house wines (plum wine, saki, etc.) and your standard array of domestic and imported beers. Overall, if you're looking for pleasant meal the service is unfailingly polite and restaurant is well kept ... it's definitely the the most consistent and enjoyable meal in Crosby. read more

Sometimes mediocre, but tonight's Garlic Lover was just inedible. We ordered takeout so I couldn't send it back but I literally threw away 2 plates of food. My daughter had the Garlic lover with tofu and I had the same but with beef. Not trying to be funny but it actually smelled like a dirty diaper. This isn't a bad place to eat but our waitress was a problem. They began to stare and it seemed like they were talking about us while we were eating. They go to the same high school as us and we have worked here previously. They began to whisper and one even said, "you could be pettier" and our waitress began dropping our plates to the table. When this restaurant initially opened, I was excited to have sushi so close to home, and it wasn't even that expensive. Little did I know, that over time the prices would rise and the quality would fall. The sushi went from Alright to barely passable, while the price has risen pretty steadily for the past while. The roll selection appears fine, until you actually start to look at the ingredients, and come to find out that the majority of them are just copies of each other, with single ingredient differences. The nigiri is extremely underwhelming, the rice has little to no flavor, while the fish is poorly prepared and sometimes just downright badly cut. The sashimi is a joke, end of that. This is my second sushi experience in Texas, and it was delicious overall. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. It was confusing at first because several people came to our table throughout the meal, but it worked well. The fried calamari was different than anywhere else - instead of the stringy looking pieces it was actual chunks like they make at a hibachi place. It still tasted great. Serving Chinese, Japanese, and Sushi this quaint café has very good food with reasonable prices. They have a fully functioning sushi bar which I enjoy their spicy salmon roll and spicy tuna rolls. There triple delight is very good with lots of shrimp, chicken and beef served with either fried or white rice. Charming's lunch specials are quite good with a lot of food. If you choose one of the lunch specials you are rewarded with a soup of your choice, a salad, an egg roll, choice of rice and main entrée from that ranges from Moo Goo Gai Pan to General Tso's Chicken all for under $8.00. read more

We frequently eat here and love it! If you're into sushi (what I call semi-sushi, lol!) then get the Shaggy Dog roll. It is too die for! It has tempura shrimp (hence semi-sushi) and avocado on the inside, rolled in seaweed wrappers and rice, with a spicey mayonnaise topping. It is my absolute favorite! Hubby ALWAYS gets the garlic chicken with fried rice, I like the beef and broccoli with steamed rice and our 10 year old just gets the kids sweet and sour chicken.
