Came in here for a light bite in the mid to late afternoon on a weekday. The place had a few tables full and everyone was quietly eating. There were a few TVs but they were on low. I got the miso soup which was flavorful and very hot. Loved it. I also got the salmon sashimi. Very fresh. And I ordered eel sushi but it came as sashimi and that was perfectly good too. The flavor was incredible and it was a little warm. Excellent! I also got the edamame. I would have preferred a bit more salt but that's just me. It was steamed just the right amount. Making this a regular stop on future trips because it is conveniently located between the airport and NASA JSC area. read more

The saying 'you get what you pay for' is most commonly used to say that something cheap is probably not very good.. Well that saying definitely applies here. I ordered the two roll combo (philadelphia roll and spicy crunchy shrimp roll) w/ miso soup for $7.95 and a grizzly roll for $8.50. Philadelphia roll - this roll had a weird taste and smell to it.. I couldn't figure out if it was the fish or cream cheese that was the reason for the smell.. I couldn't bring myself to finish the roll. Spicy crunchy shrimp roll - Please look at the picture I posted of this roll. The menu didn't explain the contents of the roll, but just from the name I assumed it would be a roll with shrimp in the middle, tempura flakes on the outside, and some kind of spicy sauce incorporated somewhere in the roll... I was somewhat right.. Except that the tempura flakes were inside the roll (why?!) and there's no way I could have predicted how little shrimp would be in the roll.. It's like they took one shrimp, cut it in half, and then cut those halves into enough small pieces to be able to call it a shrimp roll. This roll goes down as one of the worst rolls I've ever had in my life. Downright awful. Grizzly - The only roll that tasted decent. 10 big and full pieces for $8.50, you can't really beat that. I would order this again if I ever decide to come back. If you're someone that cares more about quality regardless of price then this place is not for you. If you're like me and you care more about quantity and low prices over quality then this place might be for you.. As for me, I don't think i'll ever be visiting again. read more

Just recently moved to the East side of Houston and it is honestly hard to find good Asian food nearby. I am so thankful to have found this place. The girlfriend really liked her yummy roll and I ordered the shaggy dog and pork tonkatsu. There was a lot more meat than I was expecting in the tonkatsu and the thicker slices were actually the juiciest. Sushi was solid. Ton katsu was good. Will be coming back here soon now that we found a good sushi spot nearby. read more

Not a whole lot is expected from a store front sushi restaurant. This review takes that into account. If you are going to serve or offer fried rice, it should actually be fried, at a bare minimum. This fried rice still shows remnants of being white and tastes like a child's attempt at cooking. The sushi is more sticky than tasteful and I just wish there was something about the food that tasted fresh. This sushi is recommended for convenience but not if you are looking for anything remotely flavorful. read more

This is a good spot for super cheap Americanized sushi. If you set your expectations right, you can really enjoy this place. We ordered the 64 piece Sushi Dish called Ocean Garden. This includes 24 California rolls, 16 Cooked Tuna rolls, 8 tempura rolls, 8 eel rolls, and 8 "chef special roll"... all for $39.99! With all that sushi for little price, who can resist? The only catch is that the California rolls were just cheap fillers, but you get what you pay for. The rest were really good but our favorite was the Chef Special and Tempura roll. The chef special was lightly fried with cream cheese in the middle and topped with this crab meat (possibly imitation). It's not fancy or authentic, but it's so good! Oh, and forgot to mention, the order comes with four bowls of miso soup! We also ordered 8 pc of Rainbow roll for just $7.95. This was one of the few rolls that actually had cuts of raw fish (I.e. salmon and yellowtail) which was a nice change of pace from the Ocean Garden. Lastly, we ordered the Hamachi Kama, which translates to yellowtail collar (thank you Google lol). It's very flavorful and some may even argue that it's the best cut of the fish. I can definitely vouch for that! It's only $6.95 here which is a good value. If you aren't looking for fancy and authentic sushi but just something good to eat, this is your place! Just don't expect Uchi or MF. This is what the East side has to offer! read more

(Parking, interior, and service) First I must say the parking might be a tad awkward as the location is on a small strip with other business near by sharing parking. The interior, though quaint, accommadates enough space for each person to feel they have room on booths, tables and hybrids and the booths are movable to give room which is awesome for those with claustrophobia and other needs. The service is also great as I find both of the owners (?) kind and attentive though overwhelmed at times as I only see 3 people working (male and female worker and 1 cook I believe) but they still manage to get orders, clean, provide beverage and other customer needs. Fantastic! (Food and beverage) I have visited 2 times at the time of this review and have a decent understanding and idea of the menu. The second visit was with family and we decided to endulge ourselves that day. We ordered 4 sushi plates, each very different from the last, a ramen bowl for all 3 of us, and an appetizer of Crab Rangoons (Crab meat filled cheese puffs). The first to be served was the Crab Rangoons which we already knew was gonna be phenomenal. They are decent sized, great creamy and smooth flavor, come in 6,and is served along a duck sauce I believe (a slightly sweet and peppery thick orange sauce that pairs well with the oil and cheese taste of the cheese puffs). What more can I say. Next came the Houston Texas Roll which had crab meat, shrimp, cucumber, cream cheese and Japanese style mayo. A wonderful roll to start as it is light and creamy as I really enjoy avocado, crab, and cheese combo. Spicy mayo is desirable in most good sushi in my opinion. The next roll was a big one. The Godzilla Roll, a deep fried roll of crab meat, cream cheese, white fish, salmon, and avocado topped with Masago (a type of caviar from a small north Atlantic fish called the Capelin), scallions and tempura flakes. Though delicious I must warn that you will burn your mouth like I did if you do not wait for the roll to cool down. It was definitely an overwhelming taste experience and I couldn't really enjoy it as I burned myself (tee hee oops). The next was the dragon roll. Like the other rolls with crab and cheese but instead topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. It's a roll that is a tad on the salty side but a favorite among my family. Then out came the ramen. My ramen, the spicy miso, was a flavourful and not too spicy mix but will get you sweating due to the heat of the soup and you may feel a sight numb on the lips to the heat. Not much of a throat burn but a great soup on a cold day. All the noodles in each ramen bowl were nice and springy with a nice soft bite to them. Next I tried my father's Tonkotsu (pork bone broth). I was actually surprised by how flavorful and slightly deep the flavor was. As I usually enjoy spicy miso more I would think this was just tame but I would be happy to enjoy this broth as well. Then for comparison sake I tried my mother's Regular non spicy Miso and enjoyed it all the same but found it lacking to the spicy miso in flavor and the Tonkotsu in depth of flavor but appreciated its lightness as it fit my mother's taste well as she can't handle much heat or heavy flavors as much as she used to. Of course this meal was also finished with a Thai tea! Overall my Recommendations! -(solo eating) a bento box for a complete meal. It's super crunchy, the flavors are definitely there, I have been able to find an other roll like that, so I definitely stopping by, it was sooo good; I also had the tofu skin, it was my first time trying that item in general, so I really didn't know what to expect, not a big fan of it, but their avocado/ cucumber roll is pretty good and fresh too, super creamy and good !!!
