My family and I visited Charon vineyards this past weekend and as always it was a wonderful experience. We had went specifically for their Mulled wine which is delicious while enjoying their patio view. They do also have indoor seating that we have utilized in the past when it's cold out. This trip we ordered their meat and cheese boars head tray that went well with our drinks. The table service at the vineyard is also really great the ladies were very attentive and helpful with wine pairings. They do have events on weekends, when we arrived we were lucky enough to hear some live music before it ended for the night. Will definitely keep coming back. read more

Had a fantastic day on Saturday: little market set up: about 6 tents w/merchandise. Decided to take a seat on the patio and our party had flights of wine, the Mother's Day slushee special, we all ordered food from the Peruvian food truck-2 chicken fries, steak fries, pollo salatado and steak bowl. Delicious! We all purchased a little something: rope bowl, concrete jewelry dish, bird house n clock. This was our first stop on our trip in the wine area. We have been going here for 15 years. Not sure why I never left a review. They are on their third owner and the wines are so amazing. Whites and reds and sweets. Lots of out side seating over looking the vineyard. They have meat and cheese and a few other snacks. And lots of non alcoholic drinks. The views are stunning, they have a big menu, more snacks, delicious slushees or mulled wine depending on the weather. What a surprise a winery is southern Az! Up a windy gravel road. They have a lovely patio looking out to their vines. They had a live band playing music that matched the ambience. The menu was large and they had loads of wine to taste and options for non-drinkers or drivers. I opted for the slushy. A realtor I know recommended that I check out Charron Vineyards. They were doing harvest on Friday when we stopped in. Michelle (kitten mama) helped us and was very warm and welcoming, as well as quite knowledgeable about wine. My companion did a tasting and I, no longer drinking, had a sparkling water. The tasting room is functional and well equipped for all necessary tasks involved in the exhausting exercise of wine tasting. The 2015 Merlot was judged to be the superior sip and the Peach Bellini slushie got rave reviews. read more

This is a lovely family owned business and worth the drive from Tucson. The views and the patio are beautiful. They couldn't handle the crowd today on Mother's Day, but we were there when they opened and missed a little of the rush. The wine slushy machine couldn't keep up and they were adding ice to the mix in each glass. It would've been considerate if they let us know before ordering them that they weren't frozen. The charcuterie board was great and they have local Popped popcorn, the truffle flavor is delicious! The staff was so nice and doing their best. Recommend coming and spending a few hours. read more

I came here on 3/26 with a large group of women. We came here last minute because the other winery we were supposed to go to was too busy. We were able to find seats for all of us together here which was great. The view outside is just spectacular and I would come here just for this. Unfortunately we were sitting directly in the sun and my red wine flight got hot and obviously didn't taste good at all. Therefore I cannot judge the wine. I hated the slushy though, it was way too sweet. I recommend coming here in the cooler months and sitting outside to enjoy the views. read more

If you're looking for a winery closer to Tucson than Willcox and Sonoita, highly recommend stopping by Charron Vineyards! They offer a nice selection of merlots (using grapes grown on their property) with beautiful views of the Santa Rita Mountains from their outdoor patio. The tastings are $10 with your choice of 6 wines and include the glass! I really like that you can choose which wines you want to taste rather than picking a white or red only tasting. Due to COVID precautions, the tasting comes out as a flight which was really nice and quick. For food, they offer a variety of snacks and picnic baskets. We got the charcuterie and cheese picnic basket; for $23, you get a good amount of food with your choice of meat (prosciutto, salami, or soppressata), individually wrapped cheeses, almonds, olives, freshly baked bread, focaccia crisps, and chocolate wafers - perfect to share between 2 people. Our family stopped by for some wine and appetizers. We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff and our timing couldn't have been better because we ran into Santa. Found a lovely little spot in Vail, AZ to enjoy the scenery and taste some local wine! The owner, Colton was very friendly and hospitable. Our server was a female and I'm embarrassed I didn't get her name, but she was very nice and knowledgeable. The staff is attentive, too. We ordered a charcuterie platter to share with our party of 4. They serve prepackaged Boar's Head product with a side of crackers. We were able to keep our glasses, too. I don't give 5 stars for only one reason: when we ordered full glasses of wine and bugs flew into them before we even got 1/2 way completed. Five star service would have offered to clean out the glass and repour a small amount so we could fully enjoy the rest. Unfortunately, because I was not able to really tell if I enjoyed the glass I ordered, I didn't buy a bottle. I will return again and hopefully I'll find a wine I like enough to buy a bottle or two. One other thing to note is that when you drive here, you need to know it's off a dirt road and you will cross over a small body of water. The view is very nice! read more

This vineyard is a great place to go if you want to get a hand on experience with the challenges of growing grapes in a desert. The staff is friendly, their flight tasting is well designed, and the view at night would be great. The road leading up to the vineyard is rough so take it very slow. read more

Truly enjoy this locally owned vineyard. Each visit we bring different friends to experience the surprisingly good wines and atmosphere of the patio area. This visit didn't disappoint. We were greeted by the owners exuberant, young daughter who was very attentive in helping us get setup. Each of us identified wines that appealed to our palates especially the Viognier, Syrah and Merlot 17. During our tasting the owner, Colton, stopped by our table to say hello and ensure we were doing ok. After we inquired about the work being done in the vineyard that day, he took time to share with us the upcoming activities of caring and preparing the wines. You could sense his enthusiasm and passion for being a vineyard owner. We learned that Colton, his wife Sarah and their daughter, a local family, took ownership in 2021. We went on "the day of the blessing" we sat and they never came back to take our order but they offered an umbrella for the newer customers as we cooked right in front of staff. Reread what I wrote before writing out "facts" that don't apply. 2)  This is super great news! This isn't what we were told on the phone. 3) The day we were there you looked on your phone to see where this information (no food or drinks allowed) was posted on your website and couldn't find it. You then walked away from me and slammed your door behind you because you were called out. 4) This is subjective and completely based on how each individual perceives their visit. If my review is removed I will happily go to KVOA with this story. I've already spoken to one of their reporters about it, I just didn't share the name of the vineyard. The only reason I haven't shared it yet is because your sweet wife is an amazing person and my father (who she previously worked for) asked me to be nice. This review was me being nice. Want to see how I really feel? Keep pushing me. I have no tolerance for this and absolutely no patience. My day was amazing before coming to your vineyard, you ruined it. I hope you're super happy and proud of yourself. Our interaction at the winery is what got you this review, so keep that in mind as you continue to argue. I am very capable of separating my emotions from the truth and you calling me a liar is really pushing me. I think you underestimate how upset you made me. You just bought this place- per your August 2021 newsletter so check with the old owners (who were nice) because they did allow food. No one with such a sour attitude or lack of empathy towards someone dying of a terminal illness has ever nor will ever be invited to anything if mine. So...where were we? Oh yes, the liar...Who is the liar? It isn't me. Check yourself. My language was completely appropriate for the service you presented. In fact, I feel it is mild. I feel for the people that work for you, I would never want to be in their shoes. Maybe, just maybe, you should be nicer so you don't get bad reviews in the future. Life is too short, you're right. Great experience! Only $10 for a wine tasting (choose six wines from a delectable range of dry to sweet), which includes a complementary souvenir glass! Baskets available of assorted meats and cheeses, souvenirs for sale up front, indoor/outdoor seating available - with savory views of the vineyard and mountains! The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Pet friendly - animals must be leashed, but are always welcome. Charron has its own dog mascot (I forgot his name) who's always around to greet visitors (don't worry - he is very laid back. In my visits I've never seen him bark, lick, jump, or pester any guests. He's the best-behaves dog I've ever seen!) The only "con" that comes to mind is the dirt road you have to take to drive up the hill to the site. It's not well-maintained and can be rough after a storm. However, you can navigate it with a compact sedan, so no 4x4 needed! Kids are welcome, though there's not much for them to do.
