This is a great place for that classic diner food you're craving! We always get a good hamburger or hotdog here paired with fries and fishing with creamy soft serve ice cream. We really go here for classic chocolate vanilla swirl combo! I think the patties are a little thin on the hamburgers so I always get a double! They do have a drive thru option, however we haven't utilized that before! Prices are cheaper so great for taking the kids. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well. Service is friendly, you order at the counter and then take it back to your table. The ambiance is diner quality, laid back!

I was looking for a quick bite on the way home, and stopped in at Chars because I have not been there in quite a while. I like to try new things, so I picked up a super dog. First impressions, it's pretty big. I asked the girl what was in it and she said it was an all beef hotdog with everything on it. That pretty much sums it up. I picked up four napkins on my way out and then went to the truck to take a picture. My Second mistake was trying to eat the last half while I was driving. If You didn't catch that, my first mistake was only picking up four napkins. Now I'll be fair and say these are the old-school napkins., shot glass napkins, you could say. They just don't have enough coverage by themselves. However many napkins you picked up, you'll need to at least double it in order to not be sticky and you're done. Now second mistake... don't try this at home, my truck smells like hotdog and I'm pretty sure there is an oil slick on the steering wheel. Despite all of that, I've come away pleased. Some times you have to get dirty to have a little fun. Way to go Chars!

Been coming here for over 30 years. It was the place to go when cruising Main Street to get some ice cream or a safe place for a first date. Never ordered anything besides hot dog, Charburger, fries, hot fudge sundae or a hot fudge cake. So, I can't comment on any other food besides that, which has always been consistent. Staff has always been 90-95% teenagers but have always been nice to us.

Chard is a frosty type hamburger stop located in downtown old town. I had a Char burger and an order of fries plus a bowl of home style beef soup. Everything was very good. The soup was fresh and tasty. The burger had plenty of veggies, which I like, and the French fries were some of the best frosty fries I have ever had.. the foot long hot dog was really good, too. Bathrooms were clean, but not recently updated. Staff were very friendly.

I walked in to a packed restaurant with a line almost out the door. The young lady at the counter tells me before I order there is a 30-40 minute wait on the food and while that sounds ridiculous, I drove all the way from Asheboro for one of their burgers because I already know it's worth the wait. No problem! The place is right off the main road and there's plenty of parking with additional parking in the rear. The inside appearance is that of a burger joint. Not too fancy but clean. I ordered the Jr. Cheeseburger with extra cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo, a Hot Dog all the way, Seasoned fries and a Sweet Tea. Their burgers are served hot and are cooked until the edges are "lacy" and crispy with just the right amount of seasoning. They use potato buns and they and are so fresh and grilled on one side which gives the burger additional good flavor. The fries are cooked perfectly, served hot and lightly seasoned. And you can get some of their homemade ranch to dip them in. I know they are known for their burgers but they also have AWESOME Hot Dogs! The weiner is grilled and again, the bun is grilled on one side, just makes your tongue all kind of happy. I ordered my hot dog "All the Way" aka "Carolina Style". The chili was good, the white slaw was fresh and light, onions added a hint of sweetness, and the mustard ties all of the flavors together in a well made, high quality hot dog. They also have really good sweet tea. Nicks has the BEST burgers and hot dogs in the Triangle area and I highly recommend but get there as soon as they open or you may find yourself waiting in line. But do go.

The melted cheese was dripping over the sides, the bun was soft and fresh, and every bite just kept getting better. The fries deserved their own round of applause. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and so addictive I kept telling myself, "Just one more"... about 30 fries ago. I don't know what kind of magic they're working back there, but they absolutely nailed it. This wasn't one of those burgers you eat because you're hungry--this was the kind you eat in complete silence because you're too busy enjoying every bite. On top of the amazing food, the service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. They also have covered outdoor picnic tables with fans running overhead, which was a really nice touch. It made sitting outside comfortable even on a warm day and gave the place a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Safe to say this place has officially ruined mediocre burgers for me. I'll definitely be back... and next time I might need two orders of fries because sharing isn't going to happen.

From the super-friendly welcome from our smiling hostess, who seated us immediately, to our waitress, Carrie, who was incredibly nice and provided excellent service, everything was top-notch! I'm always on the hunt for the best club sandwich, and I can honestly say this was THE BEST club sandwich I've EVER had! It was so beautifully presented, it almost looked fake, but it was absolutely delicious. We also tried the Pick 3 appetizers and loved the fried mushrooms, southwest egg rolls, and bagel bites, and we had a burger too! There are tons of appetizers to choose from, which is great if you just want a drink and something small to eat. Regarding the entrees. Burgers, wings, wraps, and sandwiches dominate the menu. I sampled my wife's Hamburger Steak plate and enjoyed it. Tons of beers (many regional) on the draft menu. 5 stars for their draft beer selection. Why not 5 stars?". It's freaking LOUD. At my table, we had to shout to carry on a conversation.

This looks like a little hole-in the-wall type of place, so I should've known it would be great! We got hotdogs all the way with no onions, I think they called them "regular." We also got fries and drinks. It was about $24 total, which isn't terrible compared to other hotdog places in the area. Everything was served piping hot and the hotdogs I would argue are my favorite of any in the area. They are a red hotdog and the white slaw and chili are almost sweet. It reminds me of the hotdogs I grew up eating at a local drive in restaurant back where I'm from. It is a walk-up stand and you're served at a window but you can take your food back to your car and eat in the air conditioning or take it back home with you. The lady taking orders was managing phone orders and in person orders while fixing drinks and calling customers up to get their food. I loved my visit to this little place and I'm going to definitely keep it in mind for lunches in the near future. Can't wait to go back soon!

Bridgett chatted us up all night and was genuinely interested in learning about us big city folks. Man, I have to say...it's been a while since I've had someone come up to me and be so curious about meeting someone who grew up and lives in NYC (because everyone does these days, right?), and it was nice to have that raw curiosity again. Her radiant energy is so damn infectious. Her food is prepared with passed-down recipes from her grandmother. Portions are massive and that is not an understatement. We all got plates with 2 sides and bread and even with our big appetites, most of us only got through halfway or a little more.
