Seated right away and we had such a pleasant server! Fried pork skins are fantastic. Real skins, softly fried with a slight crunch, drizzled with BBQ sauce and a side of pimento cheese for dipping. The ribs were THICK and a half rack was plenty for the hubby - fall off the bone too! The salad was displayed like a piece of art! All the flavors were pulled together with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The dining area is laid back, easy going, with tables, two bars and some couches/chairs for just chilling out. I stumbled upon Sophie's quite by accident, when suggested by a relative to meet there for lunch. Situated in the heart of Lexington downtown, it's spacious and well laid out, clean, and the service was better than a lot of places I've been. Damn good burgers and an attentive waitstaff makes it a repeat location for me ! I suggest you try them. read more

I had been a customer at Sophie's since around 2017. It was okay. They obviously cut corners with ingredients, such as if a special is supposed to have caviar, you might get three fish eggs that you need a microscope to find. At any rate, I used to eat there once or twice a month, sometimes meeting family or friends. Until I met the owner. By far the most obnoxious, egotistical person I have met in decades. Finally got the chance to drive into Lexington and check out Sophie's the overall layout of this restaurant is very unique with lots of differently styled seating areas to accommodate different needs.The wood paneling and furniture paired with oversized leather chairs gives a masculine vibe that is balances with string lighting, wine bottles and lots of natural light. We enjoyed burgers that were recommended by our server along with the fried chicken skins and homemade pimiento cheese. The service was great, everything was very tasty and the burgers were huge. I came here for a pit stop on my way to Greenville, SC. Pretty great experience overall! The bartenders were friendly, funny, and quick. The truffle fry bowl was huge! Definitely too much for one person but it was so good and definitely worth trying. I do wish they'd put a layer of the sauce on the bottom layer of fries and then a layer on the top of the fries as well so when you get to the bottom fries you'll still have the taste of the original sauce that pulled you in initially. The southern chicken sandwich was pretty good. I did ask for mustard and hot sauce to add some tangy and spice to the sandwich because I feel like it was missing that. After that it was even better. I'd definitely return here. The restaurant got louder as more people started to enter as we had our dinner. There was plenty of space as well and the bathrooms were clean. read more

The food is delicious! Live music is appreciated. Service is questionable. They kept bringing us entres we didn't order that were for other tables. Even after we finished eating! What we ordered: Deep South Burger $14 The crispy chicken skin, bbq sauce and pimento cheese combo on this brioche burger was delicious! Vegan General Tsos $16 The crispiness of the broccoli combined with the chewiness of the lions mane was wonderful! That with a hearty covering of their general tsos sauce was one of my favorite parts of this visit Pork belly banh mi $10 Every ingredient sounded amazing, but I was slightly underwhelmed by the lack of flavor in the pork belly and the veggies seemed more crunchy than pickled to me. Sophie's, is another great local restaurant that I have been to a few times, but have never done a review for even though it deserves it! We visited Sophie's on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday with a medium sized group, and they took great care of us. On this particular night, they did have a band, so it was a little loud, so just a note if you are looking for a quiet place, I would ask ahead of time just in case! On this particular trip, I had tastes of a few different entrees, and everything I had was really good. You certainly cannot go wrong with one of their burgers which are good quality, thick, juicy burgers cooked just right. Probably two of my favorites I got to try on this particular night were the Texas Pete Chicken Pasta and the Yellowfin Tartlets. Two very different times, but both equally delicious! Compared to most of the restaurants in Lexington they have a very good beer selection, while I personally wish they had maybe a little more range in the wine selection for a place with "cork" in the name. While it is good for the area, it is largely what you would expect of any place with a decent wine list that seems like it was probably put together more by their wine distributor. With a more thought out wine list this would have been a 5 star review. I would still definitely suggest Sophie's to anyone looking for a good meal, in a cool atmosphere in Lexington, and I am sure I will be back as well! read more

The filet wrap and the vegan burger were EXCELLENT ! And you cant get further apart on our food choices. You are doing yourself a disservice not trying this place, everything was top notch! PS we paid full price, did not complain about anything and gave a kicka** review because it was just AMAZING. Do not listen to "influencer" food reviewers who bring "a professional" camera crew who only want free food. Just order, eat and pay. Make your own opinion. You will not regret it. I might run out of characters before I can properly explain just how unbelievably horrible the service is here. Honestly, they could offer me free meals for life and I still wouldn't step foot back inside. Let's start with the reservation--our 7:00 PM reservation magically turned into 7:40 PM because they sat someone at our reserved table. At that point, it wasn't a reservation; it was lack of choices that evening and we only endured because it was a special occasion. Once we were finally seated, waters were handed out to about 80% of the table. The rest of us were apparently expected to share. And since our waiter was nowhere to be found--unless you count him leaning on a nearby countertop--we had to go to the bar to ask for water refills. The local water bill must be cutting into the budget and apparently wasn't included in the experience. Midway through taking our order, the waiter decided to abandon ship like the ADD meds just suddenly stopped work and sprints off to get drinks for the people who ordered them, instead of--I don't know--finishing the food order so the kitchen could get started. Multi tasking is apparently not a qualification here. Food finally came out 30-40 minutes later, and it arrived in the most unpredictable pattern I've ever seen. Plates were delivered at random. Appetizers appeared after I had already eaten half my burger. Some dishes came twice because the staff clearly had zero clue what had already been served. As entertainment, the cook/owner/manager (I'm still not sure) stormed out of the kitchen to yell at the waiter in front of the entire restaurant. Not sure what the issue was, but doing it live for the crowd felt... unprofessional, to say the least. When the meal was over, our waiter didn't bother with the classic, "Can I get you anything else?" Instead, he told us he had places to be and asked if he could hurry up and bring the checks so he could leave. Honestly, I wish he had left before we even sat down. He returned with the checks and debit cards, tossed them on the table in one big pile with a stack of pens, and walked off without saying a single word. We had to sort out our own cards like we were dealing playing cards at a poker night. In short: If you want to experience the type of service that makes you enjoy a fast food restaurant instead then this is the place for you. read more

We usually love Sophie's but today not so much. The seasonal bruschetta was awful. Cold bok choy on toast with a bit of balsamic. Our tuna tartlets were in uncooked puff pastry shells. Is it really a trip to Lexington if you don't dine at Sophie's Cork and Ale?? We decided to stop in to the famous Sophie's on a food crawl day around town and it was a very nice meal! The interior is upscale bar-esque which fits the vibe of the food. The standouts from our meal was the scallop dish on special (I still dream about this) and the tuna tartlettes. Both of these get a standing ovation, 5 star rating. The rest is the food we had was fine. Good but not amazing. And that could be that we just didn't order the right thing. But still solid upscale bar food. Our server was attentive as we had a rather large party and she handled it well. Overall I'll come back to Sophie's if just for the tuna and scallops alone because those were phenomenal! read more

Have you ever followed a restaurants page and seen their delicious food just waiting for a chance to visit - that was us with Sophie's! We finally got the chance to have dinner there and it was a treat. Their menu includes upscale snacks and bar food with some classic entrees. Food is the most important factor for me and the menu here reminds me of the artistic quality I used to find in the city. Customer service comes next- I don't care if you have the best food in town, if the service is bad, I'm never coming back. We have been treated with such kindness and prompt service at Sophie's that you can feel that they want you to enjoy your time there. AJ and Gage are wonderful at what they do and our interactions with the rest of the staff have been nothing but delightful.
