I've driven past this little spot almost daily for the past 11 years and have just stopped in this week as a suggestion from my husband. Boy, have I been missing out! This looks like a little hole-in the-wall type of place, so I should've known it would be great! We got hotdogs all the way with no onions, I think they called them "regular." We also got fries and drinks. It was about $24 total, which isn't terrible compared to other hotdog places in the area. Everything was served piping hot and the hotdogs I would argue are my favorite of any in the area. They are a red hotdog and the white slaw and chili are almost sweet. It reminds me of the hotdogs I grew up eating at a local drive in restaurant back where I'm from. It is a walk-up stand and you're served at a window but you can take your food back to your car and eat in the air conditioning or take it back home with you. The lady taking orders was managing phone orders and in person orders while fixing drinks and calling customers up to get their food. I loved my visit to this little place and I'm going to definitely keep it in mind for lunches in the near future. Can't wait to go back soon! read more

Kearney's drive in has been slinging sandwiches, burgers, and dogs since 1967. It's not much to look at but I've heard great things about their hot dogs and I heard too late that they have a delicious pimento cheese sandwich that I'll have to go back to try. The hot dog wasn't really anything special and I've definitely had better but I'd still like to go back and try some other menu items. read more

Never judge a book by its cover. Since childhood, we've heard this over and over again. When we had a hankering for some hot dogs Saturday afternoon, my wife reminded me that the best place in Davidson County she had heard of was 'Kearneys'. When we pulled into the general parking area, my book by its cover mantra came back to haunt me. My initial thought was, 'Where the heck are we and what is this place?'. BUT, I encourage you to park your car, turn the ignition off, and do yourself a favor by strolling over to the walkup counter and order some of the best tasting hot dogs you've ever had. We can't always look to go 'national-chain' for our eating experiences; the local businesses rely on us for their existence and this was yet again, a pleasurable experience where my heart felt good for 'going local' and my tummy felt good for the savory sweet chili smothered over my 'Carolina Reds'. The location has been around since 1967 and was opened/owned by a former US Army First Sergeant Steve Koonts. Having earned multiply awards from the 'Winston Salem Dispatch' voted on by county residents, it seemed a solid choice. You get the hot dogs in an order of 4 each. Beef, pork, or Carolina Reds. We chose to pay a little extra to have cheddar cheese and this delicious sweet meat chili on top. An order of French fries with Old Bay seasoning generously sprinkled on top completed the small town afternoon lunch as we enjoyed it sitting in our car. The windows are adorned with print outs of the Hot Dog stand history, its awards, and the standard walkup window menu, but hey they even take Apple Pay so they are keeping up with the times! C'mon over to the corner of W. 6th St and Southbound St in Lexington. You won't be disappointed. read more

Been going here all my life. The hot dogs arn't as good as they used to be and the customer service is not great as far as the people working there don't act like they care to be there. This place has been around since my father was a kid and used to be a lot more pleasant. read more

Damn good burgers here that taste straight off the grill. Nothing out of the ordinary; just bacon, cheese, mayo, and meat. The chili cheese fries are delicious. Can't complain about the portion sizes for the price either (paid around 14.50$ for a big burger, chili cheese hotdog, and chili cheese fries). Service was friendly as well. My only problem would be they only take cash, no cards. Luckily I had a 20$ on me but I know a lot of people who don't carry cash who will go elsewhere instead of trying this good food. read more

Great little gem, I stopped in while traveling and had 2 red dogs with chili and order of fries. Very different chili from what I'm use to but it was delicious and the fries were hot and fresh. I've been eating here for about 40 years. Great hot dogs but the Kearney burger has no equal. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Pretty good little burger/hotdog joint. The chili is a little sweet but it was great on the hotdog. This place has been open for as long as I can remember. Usually real busy at lunch so be prepared to wait a minute to order and collect your food. The customer service was fantastic. Great southern hospitality. The Hot dogs here could end wars and bring nations together. I grew up in Lexington and have been eating at kearneys every since I was kid. To start off It is a takeout only place with a large parking lot surrounding the small building. you walk up to the window and place your order to the attended inside they are always curtsies and polite. The best part is the window always have the special that are running and all the prices of everything they have so you do not have to ask. They also have the price for anything that cost extra which is great because we hate nothing more than when you order something and then when the bill comes, you was charged for something that you didn't know cost extra. They run a lot of deals and specials here most they keep running all year long. my favorite is 6 hotdogs with a box of fries for $10 which is a steal me and my wife get it every time. Other deals they run are 12 hotdogs box fries and large drink for $15 which is great if you have a large family. They have deals for burgers and there chicken tender baskets none of there deals are over $20. That to me is great because when you have a big family every nickel counts. Now to the food The hotdogs here are out of this world! I always get mine all the way with mustard chill slaw and onions. They offer two types of slaw which is nice because some restaurant only off cole slaw, I my self prefer BBQ slaw or red slaw which ever you prefer to call it. referring to Freds review some people like really thick meat chill but the way Kearneys makes there chill is perfect for there hot dog. It does not make your hotdogs big and bulky where all you taste is chill and nothing else. There chill is spread on thin under the slaw which makes the flavors mix and not over power each other. The burgers are great not nothing to go crazy about but are on the top of my list always prepared fresh and not some thin piece of meat like you get from these fast food places like McDonalds, Burger King and so on. There is a few down falls when it comes to the food one they do not offer sport peppers or Sauer kraut which my wife always complains about and they do charge extra for cheese on the hot dogs but its only 25 cent so it won't break the bank. In the end Kearneys is a place i would recommend to go and try anytime your are in Lexington you will not be disappointed the attends are always happy to help you and are never rude, In my 18 years of going here they have never got my order wrong. read more

Today I was introduced to the Double Kearney Basket by a co worker. This Burger was a monstrous mound of very flavorful meats , pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes. This burger was Excellent but the staff that served it was just a good or better. Great food and a great staff equals 1 of many happy and new retuning customers. read more
