I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant for a bachelorette event. Unfortunately most of the party did not have a good experience. Service was unnecessarily slow. From between getting our orders taken, getting apps, drinks, entrees, getting our checks. The food was okay but the experience was made distasteful due to extreme periods of waiting. Happy hour is from 4-6:30, good selections of drinks and happy hour food.. we had 2 specialty cocktails for $7 a piece instead of normally $12 or $11.. 2 pomegranate mojitos and 2 margaritas with blood orange .. they have pomegranate martini on the menu but was out of ingredients so the margarita was my back up. We asked for kimchi sauce which I saw came with the firecracker shrimp dish .. sauce 5 stars.. lobster I give 3 stars.. it was mixed dowry celery and mayo based.. The drinks: I give it 4 stars for mojitos and 3 stars for the margarita.. Service: I give her 5 stars.. she was terrific and very accommodating and checked on us often. Chart house is right on the river front on the second level, so beneath them is another restaurant along side the river walk street. I love the ambience, very formal beachy would be my best description of the interior..warm comforting yet classy. They also have outside seating in the balcony to overlook the river walk. It's funny we thought this place would be amazing. Turned out it's a dud. Go elsewhere. This was our second time here. We arrived at the time of our reservation. I think what threw us off at the start of the meal, was a 4 top and a 2 top arrived and were seated after the time of our reservation. I sense learned there is some VIP option--so maybe that explains it. However, not having any explanation set the entire night off in a pretty bad light. Here is the review. My wife and I were on our anniversary. Totally relaxed and looking forward to just a chill and peaceful night. The waitress started okay, but we were hopeful. Then she disappeared. We met having to remind her. I love oysters. I eat them out a lot. These oysters were shucked and were very gritty--a sign of a poor shuck job. However, what was worse is that the adductor muscle was not cut on any of the oysters. What? Yes, it was a small ordeal to cut the adductor muscle with the large fork that was served--ridiculous really. She never came back after the prime rib was served to see if we need anything. The steak was fine and the calamari was okay. Fast forward to the desert. The soufflé was very over cooked. There was no melted chocolate in the middle of the desert. We would have mentioned this to the waitress--of course she was MIA. Overall, we had a bad experience and won't be back. If you're thinking of dining here skip it. Try Vic's or the Pink House. I had a reservation for 3 at 6:00 PM on a Friday night during Restaurant Week. I ended up getting out of work late and by the time I parked downtown and walked over there it was about 6:30 PM. My boyfriend dropped his mom off on Bay St and went to find a parking spot. I thought the restaurant was on Bay St, but it turns out the main entrance for the dining room was on River St. The restaurant was a few levels inside as well, and I did not see an elevator. This is critical to know ahead of time if you are going with someone who has challenges on the stairs. They would not seat her at a table until the whole party was there, which is fair. It seemed slow since we still had a table by the time I got there. They had a seat at the bar while they waited for me. They both ordered a Cesar salad, shrimp and grits, and creme brulee on the Restaurant Week menu, and loved their meals. I ordered the Mezze Plate from the seasonal menu. The asparagus was not cooked well, and the other main vegetables were huge slabs of zucchini and squash. The rice was the best food on the plate. Definitely not worth $24. I didn't mention anything to the waiter. I ordered the Hot Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert, and that was to die for! The dessert made up for the entree. We just tried celebrating our anniversary tonight at the Chart House. They wouldn't sit us inside because they said the restaurant was booked so they sat us outside on the balcony. It was a noisy night with loud motorcycles and strong smells of weed which clearly ruined the ambiance. The service was okay not great. The food was wonderful - the sea bass and lobster risotto was very good, the miso saki cod was good as well. We later found out when we were leaving the empty restaurant that they had lied to us and there were several open tables inside which would have provided a much better ambiance for our special night. My husband and I dinned at the Chart House for the first time and couldn't have been more happier with our visit. Clifford, our server, was extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The Chart House has 3 full floors to dine on, we were there around 7:00 pm on a Friday night and even though there were many people seated, it didn't feel as though we were sitting "on top of each other". From the silverware to the glasses, plates, to the floors and tables, the Chart House's cleanliness is spot on. As far as food, my husband and I ordered the Kim chi calamari and spinach and artichoke dip for appetizers. Both were very good! The calamari tasted fresh and the breading was cooked to perfection! I have never seen spinach dip that looked like seaweed, but it tasted very good! My husband got the NY strip and 2 lobster tails. I wish there were space for 10 stars for the service, because we had the best server ever in a wonderful woman named Ava on Sept. 10.We were celebrating my best friend's 60th birthday, and we've celebrated many together! But this was the best! We decided on a trip to Savannah for the happy occasion, and I made a reservation at the Chart House, having eaten at the one on Longboat Key several times. The food was fantastic, as always, with a wonderful mocktail -- some restaurants just throw something together -- and scrumptious filet and salmon and crab dish. The view and atmosphere were great. But what really made the evening special was the first-rate service by Ava, who was so attentive to our every need and really listened and paid attention. For example, when my friend Leon told her he was turning 29, she took note and had the chef write "Happy 29th Birthday" on the dessert plate. She also offered thoughtful suggestions, and every course came on time. I have curbed my dining out since the pandemic because service nowadays is so pathetic. But Ava made me rethink this! Maybe some restaurants really still do care and can pull it all together -- food, service and atmosphere -- in a way that makes the experience great. The food really should have been better for what we were paying. It was expensive...$93 for two entrees, two wines, and dessert, NOT including tip. My coconut shrimp was good, I definitely liked it, but there wasn't much to it. It seemed like a big waste of rice noodles and then only a small amount of shrimp and rice. My girlfriend got the salmon and it was good and a decent portion, but then she also got a side order of asparagus that she said was too bitter. To be fair, they did take the asparagus off when I mentioned this. The molten lava cake was actually pretty good. Here's the other thing...there was sediment of some kind at the bottom of BOTH of our water glasses. I'm not saying the food sucked, it was actually fairly good overall. But you can absolutely find food just as good or better for less than $25 or $29 a plate, and more plentiful on top of that. The only other thing I would say is that I was expecting a bit more..."Savannah-ish" character from it. The interior was nice but rather standard. Horrible. First let me elaborate by saying my husband and I LOVED Charthouse restaurants back in the day. Specifically for us, California. You could not get a bad meal there... Times have changed and Ownership as well. We have tried numerous Charthousez whenever we see one, only to be sorely disappointed, but this one...wow. We sat at the bar, initial greeting exuberent. Went downhill from there. 20 minutes to get a drink and a bottle of wine, an hour to get a chopped salad that looked like a bag of cole slaw from a grocery store drowned in watery dressing. Another 40 minutes to get dinner, having an allergy to green beans I agreed to pay upcharge for alternate of asparagus with my maple salmon. Arrives with green beans. Salmon was really good. Rice acceptable. Asaparagus arrives with woody ends still attached. Dessert , another disaster. Molten cake with nothing molten about it. Isn't that why you order for the gooey goodness ...not an overcooked cake. Next, had to wait to ask for bill. Guess what ... our featured wine at $40. Was charged full price.. double. When my family decided to meet in Savannah for Christmas there was no question where we would go for Christmas Eve dinner. I booked the reservation at Chart House Savannah 45-60 days in advance. It was totally ruined by the arrogant, nasty, rude General Manager HOUSTON J. MURRAY. There was a limited menu which I do not recall it being posted when I made reservations. When I expressed my disappointment to the server she immediately asked if I wanted to speak to the manager (it must be common these that guests at this restaurant are not happy). HOUSTON J.MURRAY came over and was insistent that it was on the booking site and his voice and mannerism exuded disdain. I have been to Chart House all over this country, the most recent a fantastic experience at the Monterrey CA location. I've been to this one in Savannah probably 10 times over the last 12-15 years. I'm sure HOUSTON J. MURRAY has a place in the restaurant business but I'm thinking maybe a Waffle House or Kentucky Fried Chicken. You would think he could bring himself to say "I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding". But he couldn't bring his self-absorbed self to even go there. read more

Truffle fish sauce had no taste nor visible sign of a single truffle. Herb crusted Prime Rib was not crusted and so chewy and tasteless that I did not eat it. The bread basket was certainly not fresh. in fact, I doubt anything was. At $79 each, the least they could do was make something with flavor. This is my second review that reminisces about when a restaurant was great. Across the country, the Chart House used to be synonymous with style, fresh inventive cuisine and elegance. Don't waste your time, money or a nice night out. Go across the street to Ruth's Chris. This was my fault. I love Ruth's Chris and was there back in January, but I've been wanting to try a Chart House and was excited when I saw it here by the water. We called right when it opened and made reservations for 6:45. When my boyfriend made the reservation, he told them that we were celebrating his son's 12th birthday. We were seated on the third floor, right outside of the River Room, which had tables with a direct view of the river. Unfortunately, if you want to wash your hands before eating, you'll have to walk all the way down to the first floor as apparently there are only one set of restrooms in a three story restaurant. When our waitress brought out the bread I was about to put a piece on my plate, when I saw that there was some food residue on it. This is especially disturbing since everything is supposed to be extra sanitized since the onset of COVID. I mentioned it to the waitress and she brought out a new plate which seemed to be clean. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and I ordered a bowl of the she crab soup. The calamari was piled high and looked great, but as we started to eat it we noticed that the calamari was sliced thin and the tentacles were either old or over fried. A majority of the appetizer dish was vegetables or peppers and it was deep fried and greasy, rather than flash fried. As we were eating out appetizers, condensation from the air vent dripped directly onto my boyfriend's son's plate. We all looked up and saw that the table was positioned directly under one of the two air vents in the room outside the river room. We didn't want to make a big deal of it because we didn't want to take away from the birthday celebration, so we tried to brush it off. For dinner, we all ordered steaks. Two fillets and one NY Strip. You would think that restaurants of this class would have way to identify how each steak was cooked, but the steaks were placed in front of us while our waitress asked us to cut into them to make sure they were cooked to our likeness. It turns out that my boyfriend's son and I had to switch steaks. No big deal, but a little off putting that you have to guess which steak is yours. For sides, we ordered vegetable orzo and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good, but the orzo was dry and bland. Luckily, it's hard to go wrong with a filet, but I tried to put a little salt on it and nothing came out. The salt inside seemed to be moist, because as I twisted the dispenser it would all clump together at the bottom and stick to the shaker. At this point, I was over it. My boyfriend was taking a break and had a few pieces of the NY Strip left on his plate while his son an I were finished. The waitress came over and took his plate as well, without asking if he was finished. He had to let her know he was still eating and she returned his plate. After he was finished, the waitress wished his son a happy birthday while she brought the check. You would think that after spending hundreds of dollars on a meal, the restaurant would give a birthday gesture. After seeing previous reviews where the restaurant printed menus with congratulatory notes, we were severely disappointed with the simple "happy birthday". After looking around, my boyfriend's son even said "next time, I hope I get a chance to sit in the River Room so I can look out the windows at the river. When we got home we found that our Lava Cake "to go" was someone else's half eaten piece of Lava Cake. As my husband was on a ventilator from Covid we are VERY cautious and even sat in a corner.
