    Mardi Gras pasta with shrimp
    Gena A.

My Mardi Gras pasta with shrimp was exceptionally tasty. We had walked all over Savannah and we're hungry and tired, but we did not have reservations, However, they still accommodated us. Our waitress/bartender was very busy. It took her a while to get to us, but it was worth the wait. When I asked what is the green stuff in my food she said I don't know. She had to go ask someone. She might be new. The place is decorated like a pirate ship.

Being honest, this isn't a place I would've picked but it was great! We were staying nearby and starving and this hit the spot. Easy wheelchair access and its own parking lot. The fried green tomatoes were crispy, big buffet option, the burger loaded with pimento cheese, even pulled pork sliders with pimento cheese! Very southern and delicious. Everyone we talked to was so friendly, and what a cool vibe inside.

This was an amazing dinner! We came for my daughter's 5th birthday . Everyone was so amazing and nice. I got the pecan chicken which was okay it wasn't my favorite but my husband got the shrimp, fish, and fried oysters po/boy which was amazing! The sauce it came with was amazing as well! It was a bit busy when we came but we got a table within 15mins. Our server Donta was so kind and patient when my kiddo was ordering ! We would love to come again and try another dish . Also while we were there we got to tour the whole building which was epic to see all the history from 1751! The gift shop is also a must to hit while your there and take home some pirates gold ;)

Yes, it's touristy and cheesy, but it's a lot of fun in a great atmosphere, and we got in easily. Our server said she had been working there for 15+ years and was a hoot. The food was good. No, not fine dining, but solidly good. The history of the house is really interesting, and the key lime pie for dessert was fantastic

The Pirates' House is easily a 10/10. If you're expecting a cheesy, "theme park" pirate vibe, this isn't it--the atmosphere is perfect because it's actually authentic, with real history tied to the building that you can feel as soon as you walk in. The food was delicious across the board, but we especially loved the she-crab soup. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. Our server, Tom, was fantastic. He was very quick, friendly, and super knowledgeable about the menu. He made some great recommendations that really made the night. If you're in the downtown Savanah area, I recommend adding it to your places to visit.

Came here for our first meal in Savannah and thought this would be the perfect place to get a variety of southern food. You can order Ala carte or buffet and the buffet lunch prices were super reasonable ($21/adult & $14/kids). There were about 14 dishes to choose from and complementary corn muffins/biscuits. Service was prompt and extremely friendly. Now in terms of food, it was just ok. They were serviceable, nothing to write home about. I am rating it above average due to the great value and friendly service, but the food is probably just about 3 stars. The fried chicken was oversalted on the outside and overcooked. The space is really cool with a fascinating history. Ask for a tour at the end. Fun way to finish the experience

The ambiance of this restaurant is all things pirate! Walking into this place feels like stepping back in time. The floors and walls are wooden as with the hostess table. They had an open chest with a booty of lollipops. When we got to the table we noticed the children's menu doubled as a pirate hat, mustache, and earrings. What a cute touch! The little one tried & loved the She Crab Soup. We all enjoyed the Honey Pecan Fried Chicken and the Crab Cake & Broiled Shrimp. The 3 of us left full with leftovers.

The honey pecan fried chicken is actually pretty fire. It was delicious. Prices weren't that high. It's a famous house that used to serve to pirates. There are some cool artifacts and remains of the old pirates building. You can get a 2-5 minute tour of it at the end of your meal. It's free... although they ask for tips. The honey pecan fried chicken is ONLY for dinner. After 4pm. Before that, it is only the lunch special which has a very different menu. Pressable penny by the entrance across from the hostess

The staff were awesome and they designed the pirate/history theme very well. I really enjoyed the history of the restaurant and the food and drinks were excellent. I got the pecan honey chicken. To be honest it was good but not great. Definitely needed to be balanced with some salt. I would definitely come back if you're looking for a unique experience!

I loved Pirate's house as a kid, but it's honestly not what it used to be. Or maybe I just grew up. The food is okay. The decor and gift shop are still pretty fun. Service is standard. I'd say go if you are taking young children...otherwise skip it and find some actual good food elsewhere!

Pirates' House Award Winning Pecan Fried Chicken with broccolini and mashed sweet potatoes
    Jalexus H.

We had no complaints at The Pirates' House. The staff was extremely welcoming. They even have someone around who knows the history of the building who's happy to show you around. The bread service was great! We loved the biscuits and cornbread we received. The whipped butter topped it off perfectly. The fried chicken, catfish, collard greens, broccolini, and grits were extremely quick, hot, and fresh! I wasn't found of the mashed sweet potatoes. They were too sweet for my preference but they tasted like a pie filling. I could see how others might enjoy it for sure.

It was the uniqueness of the decor and the general good ratings that drew us here for lunch. Five of us met here for a conversational lunch. Very interesting decor obviously heavily skewed towards a pirate theme. Our waitress got to us very quickly, providing us waters and whatever beverage we chose. Being a sweet tea fan that was my choice, and it was very good. Before ordering your lunch, they bring a basket of biscuits, cornbread, apple dip, and butter. The biscuits were good, the cornbread was wonderful. For lunch, I ordered the sumac crusted salmon salad. The size of salmon was impressively large for the salad. The salmon itself had a little fishiness to it, not super flavorful, but not bad. The salad included baby greens, mandarins, grapes and fried wontons in a fig vinaigrette salad dressing. That salad dressing was fantastic. The salad was filling enough for lunch. The general comment from everyone was their meal was pretty good.

    Corn Fritters and Shrimp

I came into The Pirate House looking for a good dinner, and it definitely delivered. I did not have reservations, but I was happy to wait about 30 minutes for a table after seeing how well-reviewed this place was. While waiting, I sat in the bar area and even got to hear some of the restaurant's history from a pirate who walked around greeting guests and giving tours. It was a fun and unique touch that really set the tone. Daunte was my server. He did not say much, but he was pleasant and made sure the food came out quickly, which I really appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary bread basket. It came with the most delicious cornbread and biscuits, served alongside a pineapple or some type of fruit preserve and butter. Such a nice way to start the meal. I ordered the corn fritters and shrimp appetizer. I was expecting more of a corn nugget, but what came out was more like a patty, similar to hot water cornbread with corn mixed in. It was topped with a flavorful remoulade and three shrimp skewered on top. Creative, hearty, and very tasty. For dinner, I had the gumbo and fried shrimp. The gumbo was more of a creole gumbo with a tomato base, served with red rice. The flavor was really good, just different from a traditional dark roux gumbo. The fried shrimp were perfectly golden, crispy on the outside, and tender inside. Overall, The Pirate House gave me a memorable Savannah dining experience. Between the history, the service, and the food, I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

The refund came through exactly as he said it would. To be clear, the food on my visit genuinely missed, and I'm not pretending otherwise. Credit where it's due on the space, too -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Warm, candle-lit dining room, an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar, and a covered patio that had a real buzz to it. It's a spot that looks and feels like somewhere you want to be, which is exactly why I'd give the kitchen another shot based on how the owner runs this place. --- Original review (2 stars): Disappointing birthday dinner. Came in for my birthday and left underwhelmed. Our server Troy was the one bright spot -- professional and attentive all night. Caesar salad: Several bitter pieces of lettuce, and no black pepper offered or available. Faroe Island salmon: Overly buttery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The shishito cream sauce was way too acidic -- tasted like uncooked wine or vinegar. Crispy rice cakes were bland and a strange pairing (rice blocks with salmon?). The baby bok choy was decent until the sauce drowned it out. Braised beef short rib: Tender but flavorless. The mashed potatoes tasted old, not fresh that evening. To top it off, my wife had arranged ahead of time for the birthday dessert to be brought out -- the message never reached Troy, so that moment never happened. Troy deserved better than what the kitchen sent out.
