My friends and I went in earlier in the day to cool off and have a couple drinks and were met with the sweetest bartender Paige! Went here for a date night and had a wonderful meal with a nice view of River Street. Our calamari appetizer was huge! It was nicely seasoned and crispy. They also give you a complimentary assorted bread basket. We both enjoyed the chart your course prime rib meal that comes with a starter, entree and dessert. Dinner started off great BUT It was a busy night but seated on time and server was very prompt. But as the night went on service decayed. Water glasses almost empty, ice tea request post alcohol was very late. She-crab soup was excellent. Shrimp/avocado/mango tower was great. Dinner: Sole on fire was excellent. But my lobster-shrimp carbonara was cold and zero sauce. What that means is my dinner sat for so long the pasta absorbed all the sauce and got cold. So after I returned it I ordered the sole on fire. That took forever and about 10 minutes after my wife finished her meal server was surprised I had yet to get my new order. Why is server not aware of my order. It finally showed up and it was hot and tasty. They comped us an ice tea. There was an interaction w management. Everyone was courteous and apologetic. Not looking for any freebies but an ice tea on the house for not dining with wife is a bit low. Given the pricing I think this restaurant is trying very hard to be a high end dining experience. Just meh. I've been to other Chart Houses in other cities and had a better experience. Setting in an old building is lovely, and nice enough view of the river. Service could improve-they forgot our wine order, didn't bring silverware even after being asked numerous times and just seemed a bit lacking in knowledge. Not the worst, far from the best. My steak was overcooked but I didn't feel like waiting for a new one while my colleagues ate. I still ate it and they comped a dessert for that. Maybe it's just the way things are post covid, but we had a far better service experience at more touristy place in town, so feel like a higher end establishment should have higher standards. We visit LANDRYS's restaurants close to coast and are even part of their diners club. We showed up at the chart house at 4 PM looking for our usual happy hour. The girl who told us they opened at 4:30 refused her 80+ year old guests a chair. " they get stolen". With two highly rated seafood restaurants on each side I'm pretty sure her manager would've had another suggestion. The food as always was awesome at chart house. Don't miss their coconut shrimp. Excellent service and great attitude on the part of Jonathan gave this overall experience a higher rating than I expected. read more

Much better culinary choices in and around Savannah. The location, ambiance, historical allure, and service are terrific. The overpriced food?; Meh! If the food had tasted as good as it was described on the menu, it would have been appropriate pricing. Waiter should have just stated he doesn't recommend the oysters. Instead he came up with a couple of excuses to get us to cancel them. They were TINY and in a few case (2 doz ordered) hardly visible in the shell. My $15 dollar chipped salad which read well on the menu came out with a small bowl of romaine lettuce w couple of beans of some kind a few slivers of cucumber 2 carrot shoe strings and maybe a tiny bit of dressing? I borrowed ranch dressing from one of my guests who specifically asked for it so received it in a bowl on the side. I ordered an ahi tuna appetizer as my meal that was served."poke style". Turned out to be qty 3 1/2 teaspoon sized slivers of Ahi tuna laid attop three fried fingers of unflavored rice. The tuna was warm, smushy and flavorless. Not one member of our party declared their meal was satisfactory. One stated, "the blackened Mahi had a little pepper on it but otherwise blah". Another only ordered the meatball appetizer ate 2 and "was full" later stating "they were awful. I couldn't eat them". One splurged for the sea bass and lobster risotto and stated "I ate it because it wasn't awful. But it definitely wasn't good ". We Strongly suggest you find some of the local fair as Landry strikes out again. read more

Last minute trip to Savanah and we wanted something nice for an anniversary get away. Walked in to Chart House on Bay Street to let my wife check out the menu. Matt mentioned some nice options and we sat us outside overlooking the river per my wife's request. Paige was our server and took amazing care of us. The dinner was great. Worst food and service ever, All seafood is farmed except crab legs. Prices are high for such poor quality and presentation. Chopped salad wasn't worth $15 for mostly yellow lettuce and we waited 30 minutes for wine when the restaurant was empty. So many places close by so I wouldn't waste your time on this place since staff wasn't at all friendly. Bartender was racist and waiter was nasty. We should have just walked out. read more

Chart House is always a reliable place to eat, but I do have to admit that I was disappointed in not seeing more 'newness' in the menu-particularly on a holiday weekend. Twenty minutes after ordering, I was told that the day's feature was sold out, and to make other selections. That also meant re-thinking the wine pairings we were receiving to match the newly ordered regular menu items. Service was professional. Our server, Rodney, i felt, was representative of the impression that the wait staff was stretched trying to cover many diners although the dining room was not full. From the very start the of our dining experience the staff at the front of the house made us comfortable and chatted with us about our experiences in Savanna. we were shown to out table on the second floor and provided with menus that wished us a Happy Anniversary. Our Mussel appetizer was to die for, followed by Carbonara with lobster and shrimp. The coup de grace was my wife's Sole on Fire which was flame-bayed table side by our server Michael. They say they are known for "Chilean Sea Bass and Prime Rib. We figured how could we go wrong. Well the menu said Sea Bass but the waitress insisted it was really Chilean See Bass. Well they served my wife Sea Bass not Chilean Sea Bass. She could not eat it as it was very fishy tasting. We told the waitress and she insisted that it was Chilean. She said she would mention to the chef, but never did. My wife could not eat it and left it on the plate. When the waitress came to clean the table she noticed it was left and said nothing. A class restaurant would have said something or removed it from the bill. (Crickets) Prime rib was kind if tough, not what I was expecting from a place that boasts of it's prime rib. Highly recommended. I've lived in the Savannah area for nearly 20-years and eaten at this restaurant on at least one dozen occasions. The quality of the offerings -- entrees, appetizers, drinks -- have always been 5-star. When visitors come in from out-of-town, I'll take them to this place unless they prefer to visit a particular restaurant. Unlike some restaurants in Savannah that charge New York prices for non-New York quality cuisine, the Chart House hits the sweet spot for price-performance in our book. This was a late night last minute stop and I really enjoyed my experience. I was worried that coming so close to closing time that would affect the quality of food or service I received but it was quite the opposite. The service was great and the food was even better. I tried a variety of appetizers that I thoroughly enjoyed. My favorite was the tuno crudo that had such a fresh taste. The Chart House is an upscale chain in the tourist district on River Street in Savannah. It is multi-leveled overlooking the Savannah River in a restored historic factory well appointed with ambience. All that adds to the charm of the place. The service staff is young, polite, efficient and effective. The food is varied of several cuts of beef: prime rib, NY strip, fillet and shrimp, and varied types of seafood choices including mahi and salmon. The sides are typical American tasty fares. The Christmas lunch of 3 courses--soup or salad, entree of choice, and dessert, was fairly priced for $69 per person. The service was very attentive and efficient, and our server did something that only seems to happen at finer restaurants--he waited until the guests finished a conversation before asking for food or beverage orders. Kudos to him and the management. Our one disappointment was that the entrees all arrived not hot or even warm but totally cool. Not sure why that happened but it did. If that could be alleviated our meal there would have rated exceptional. read more

Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at the Chart House. The location is great, the ambiance is elegant, and the food tastes great! The spinach and artichoke dip was really good, but some of the chips were overcooked. My best friend ordered their salmon and I had the crab-stuffed shrimp, both with mashed potatoes. Although, it didn't look like a lot, both meals were incredibly delicious and filling. I still can't believe how good my entire meal was. I give it 4 stars because our visit got off to a rocky start. We had a late reservation for a Sunday evening, made well in advance. However, we had to wait for almost 15 minutes even though the restaurant was not busy. Ok, no biggie. Next, the hostess took us to the second floor where we heard a waitress venting about how she hopes no one else gets put in her section. The hostess must have gotten a little confused because she took us back downstairs, checked the book, then took us upstairs again, where we were put in the "ready to go" waitress' section. From between getting our orders taken, getting apps, drinks, entrees, getting our checks. The food was okay but the experience was made distasteful due to extreme periods of waiting. Everything took so long. The server was very nice however it was exhausting and inefficient as a process where we are trying to eat and have time to explore. It was anxiety inducing. It's funny we thought this place would be amazing. Turned out it's a dud. Go elsewhere. This was our second time here. We arrived at the time of our reservation. I think what threw us off at the start of the meal, was a 4 top and a 2 top arrived and were seated after the time of our reservation. I sense learned there is some VIP option--so maybe that explains it. However, not having any explanation set the entire night off in a pretty bad light. Here is the review. My wife and I were on our anniversary. Totally relaxed and looking forward to just a chill and peaceful night. The waitress started okay, but we were hopeful. Then she disappeared. We met having to remind her. I love oysters. I eat them out a lot. These oysters were shucked and were very gritty--a sign of a poor shuck job. However, what was worse is that the adductor muscle was not cut on any of the oysters. What? Yes, it was a small ordeal to cut the adductor muscle with the large fork that was served--ridiculous really. She never came back after the prime rib was served to see if we need anything. The steak was fine and the calamari was okay. Fast forward to the desert. The soufflé was very over cooked. There was no melted chocolate in the middle of the desert. We would have mentioned this to the waitress--of course she was MIA. Overall, we had a bad experience and won't be back. If you're thinking of dining here skip it. Try Vic's or the Pink House.
