A lot of people on here write about their Charter internet experience outside the context of this store which to me is useless. If I'm checking out Charter on Yelp, I already have a good idea of what my internet connection and installation process will be like. (It was fine by the way.) No, what I need to know is what to expect when I have to come down here to either return or exchange equipment. First off, you pick a number and then they'll call it out when its your turn. The problem though is that not all people follow this system. For example, I had some Latino people walk in when I was waiting in line. They then proceeded to the next available employee. I understand if English is not your first language, but that doesn't give you a free pass to cut in line. After that though, the experience with the people at the desk was fine. read more

This place is a nightmare. There is clearly a leadership problem. It should not take 2 trips, 45 minutes of waiting, and several calls to simply return equipment. There's just no excuse for it. I'm not sure if it's resourcing, poor workflows, or disengaged staff, but it shouldn't be this hard. We'd been customers of Charter for many years and were tired of paying the "loyalty tax" for subpar internet at premium pricing. Do not use Spectrum! They are just as crooked as the others. They over charged me for a year before i Noticed all the separate charges. However, they were only willing to reimburse me for 60 days for the equipment that was never installed and billed for. When i had equipment malfunctions and needed tech support, I noticed my bill I was getting charged for a DVR. When i talked to the help desk on how to use it, we discovered I did not actually have it or the cable box needed to access a DVR. read more

If there is one thing that I hate more than than anything in this world, is showing up to a location to take care of an issue with a company's equipment, everything I have seen online says the location is open until 6PM, arrive at the location 25 minutes away at 5:30 and the doors are locked and the hours on the door say they closed at 5:00. Billing: I cancelled my account with Spectrum/Charter Communications 5/6/2020. I have held on to their equipment until 2 weeks ago. Today is 11/2/2020. Spectrum TV/Charter has not contacted me, EVEN 1TIME over the course of 6 months. I have held onto 3 cable boxes for 6 months. So after this time period, I got tired of moving it around or tripping over it. The technician refused to take the equipment. He gave me NO INSTRUCTIONS of what to do with it either. 2 weeks ago, I trashed it. Sick of keeping it around. I assumed if, in 6 months Spectrum did not ask & give me instructions of who, what, when or how to return the equipment, then they didn't want it. Today I called them because I received a bill, 2 days ago, in the amount of $326 for unreturned equipment!!. Spoke with Customer Service and a Team Leader. Both stated my last bill 5/8/2020 said to return the equipment. Again, to who, how, what or if they were sending me a box or a label to return it. It is Spectrum's/Charter Comm. equipment. If it's your equipment and you want it back, tell me HOW & WHO & WHERE & WHAT parts to return. Both ladies I spoke with stated I SHOULD have called so we could have a verbal conversation. Both admitted there have been NO attempts to contact me, NO attempts to give me instructions!! Only that the last billing stated to return the equipment. The Team Leader stated they (the company) would HOPE that I would have called them. If I owned equipment that someone else had possession of and no longer needed it, I would make attempts to get it back SOMETIME in 6 months. Not wait for over 160+ days. I did not receive ANY communication. Now, 6 months later Spectrum/Charter Communications expects me to pay $326. If, an attempt to get their equipment back with instructions was made anytime during the 6 months (up until 2 weeks ago, when I trashed it) I would have followed their instructions on how to return it . I do not intend to pay this bill because it was not billed within a reasonable time period. FURTHERMORE, I believe anyone would agree with me- that attempts should have been made during the last 6 months, including their own customer service rep and her Team Leader !! Credit where it is due; you can't beat the price for their internet package, $29.99 for 30 mbit. We ditched cable (U-verse) and went to internet and all the online TV packages (Netflix, Hulu. Prime, etc.) Charter became our ISP. When Game of Thrones picked back up with a new season I was 'forced' to get cable to be able to see it. After the season was over I ended up canceling the TV package again. The lady on the phone was extremely pushy and obnoxious when it came to canceling the cable service. I expected the typical 'why are you canceling?' question, but it went on for well over 10 minutes. Even after making it very clear this wasn't a price issue, but that because of the simple fact that I don't watch cable and as such don't want to pay for a cable sub, she kept on throwing promotions at me. 'Lady, I don't use it. Even if you give me cable for $20/mo, it's $20/mo too much because I DON'T USE IT. Just cancel everything and I'll get my internet elsewhere too, I don't have time for this. She reluctantly accepted the cancellation, then told me the $29.99 introductory rate for my internet had to go up since that was only for new customers. Told her too just cancel it again, and she magically was able to keep my internet price at the same price it was before I added the cable. Tech was supposed to come by on Friday between 8-5 to pick up my equipment. He never showed or called. 5 days later someone shows up out of the blue to pick up the box. TLDR: Great product for a good price, horrible service dept. Probably just following company policy, but a pain to deal with either way. read more

As most of you know, Charter is forcing everyone to get a cable box for every TV. I went to pick up my boxes. They are charging an extra $5.99 per month per box. I have 6 TV's. Not too happy about the extra $36 per month. Brought the boxes home, installed them, and called the number to activate. Of course this did not work. I sat on the phone with them for 54 minutes of my life which I will never get back, only to find out they need to send a tech. What a pain!! If I could give these folks a negative 5 stars, I would! When I first ordered the cable service, the lady on the phone over-sold me a package that was $40+ more than what I wanted or needed. In July, 2018, their installer knocked a hole in my wall that cost me $250 to have repaired. After three months of talking to their "customer service" people (what an oxymoron) I finally was reimbursed. Now, January 4, 2019 the cable TV is out again due to an "upgrade" that obviously didn't work. No TV Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, but they'll get a technician here sometime late Tuesday afternoon. And the Cowboys play the Seahawks when??? Oops, sorry. I missed that game! I'm averaging one service call per month due to their equipment, I have to deal with their rude customer service people, and the worst cable TV service and equipment I've ever experienced. Started with Charter super happy with them. Excellent customer service and responible. Once Spectrum stepped in I noticed that the prices are rising steadily but the benefit is they invest in technology. I work from home and have only has 2 outages in 4 years. They are responsive and the service is very reliable. I will be cutting down my services soon as my bill is getting too high. read more

If you are considering a cable company, I would seriously hesitate on signing up with Charter/Spectrum. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a company. Their customer service is horrible. The people coming out to "help" our cable, phone, internet needs have the brain capacity of a fruit fly on dope. They say they will credit your account for missing days, but then say that cable is for entertainment and will give you 16 cents a day. My bill just came in, and guess what - those 16 cents are still there. Last night, the guy showed up and literally left without a word. The cable is still acting up and my internet off and on. I've gone an entire week with no phone and cable service. Stay clear of Charter/Spectrum. read more

We have had charter communication cable TV and internet for about 18 months now and have had nothing but problems with them. The internet intermittently cuts out and the dvr stops recording shows when recording the entire series. We are on our 3rd dvr and it still happens. One technician sent a contracted crew out to replace the main line checked and possibly replaced but when they showed up they said they could not do anything. Finally a technician replaced the line from the pole to our house which made a noticeable difference but we are still having problems. My experience with Spectrum Internet was always mediocre. While they were responsive with hooking up service and the install tech was a decent person, the service itself was on the low end of what I would consider to be a good value. Other providers in the DFW area, Grande in particular, offered much higher speed packages with better pricing. I had used Grande in another home and it was great customer service and excellent value of speed vs. price. With Spectrum, 200 Mbps for 75 -80 a month is a mediocre value. I had service outages more than once. Fast forward to time of ending service. I had sold my house and would be closing a short time into the next month. I was actually contacted first by Spectrum to ask if an new service connection request was valid. I stated yes and that it was OK to disconnect my service that day or the day before. It would have been 10 days into the new month. On the first of the month, I had my granddaughter in front of the computer ready for an online school day, and I discover there is no internet. I do some quick trouble shooting and determine I am not getting any internet service. I was able to get a temporary setup for her while I was on the phone with Spectrum. Somehow, the disconnect for my service was put in for the first and not the 10th. After some working through the process, service was connected. 5 days later I was looking at my bill to determine final payment and the bill was for an entire month and the dates on the bill were for the time period after my service was to be disconnected. I called Spectrum and that is when the fun began. Over the course of the conversation, the agent informed me that the dates on the bill were wrong and that I was actually being billed from 1 to 30 of each month and because I was into the new month, I had to pay for the entire month. I asked if they were going to pro rate the unused days as obviously, after the 10th, I would no longer be at the service address. The agent stated "We don't pro-rate, as we are an entertainment company." What?! The name of the service is "internet service provide." How is it entertainment. I argued with the agent and actually asked for the supervisor who kept just saying "we are an entertainment company just like Hulu or Netlix who bill for an entire month with no proration." This is not a fair comparison because each of those services you can take with you through an app for the remainder of the month. A hardwired home connection is not portable. Big difference. I refused to pay and immediately disconnected my modem and told them to take me off their service now. I even used the following example: "What your company is doing is the same as if I pre paid $30 at a gas pump, only pumped $15 and when I went to get change, I was told, sorry, we aren't giving you the other $15 back." I waited a month and called back to resolve it. Offered to pay for the 5 days. No go. I spoke to a supervisor again. He gave me some details. In Aug, Sep, Oct of 2019, Spectrum decided to change their billing practice to no proration and apparently published it in a monthly newletter. Not to shift blame, but I don't read those. I login every month and pay my bill, ensure it is correct and that is it. As I talked with this supervisor he also stated that the feedback from a multitude of other customers was the same as mine, expressing extreme dissatisfaction at the practice. Another point through this is that during the dissconnect, reconnect fiasco, nobody even took one minute to point out that there would be no proration. I would have left the service disconnected if they had. What this now begins to look like is a greedy corporation taking money from everyday people. i admit that if I were attentive to the newsletters, I might have known ahead of time. I will accept the blame for that. But in the end, does that change the fairness/correctness of their policy? I would also ask, do they do the same thing with their Spectrum Mobile. I certainly wouldn't even consider it now because of this experience. So be warned, SPECTRUM WILL NOT PRORATE AND THEY ARE INFLEXIBLE ON THIS, EVEN WHEN THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES KNOW IT ISN'T RIGHT AND ARE GETTING BEAT UP LEFT AND RIGHT FROM CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. Unfortunately, if you cancel their service anytime during the month your are still responsible for the rest of the statement cycle whether you use them or not. Even, if you only used 7 days, you are still liable for the 23 other days that were not used in the month. They do not prorate in Texas as of 2020. Also AT&T is cheaper and fiber-tastic! read more

Worst internet Providing company around. Iv been with charter for the past 6 months and have received constant package loss, IP drops and my WiFi never stays connected. Customer service is a joke, technician's shows up late, the lady on the phone doesn't even run the correct tests as they claim. Every guy asks why or who put these cables... never makes sense.. But lets get to my point... I run a PlayStation, laptop several phones off my internet in which all get dropped signals, and are running at 20-30mbs. I pay for their "top quality 60mbs" in those speeds i never have seen sense day 1. they send these guys out they tell me there is to much signal they add some 3split.. i said if this doesnt work i'll call back... It DOESNT WORK my games disconnect every 5mins, i cant finish a Netflix movie. 2 weeks later another guy comes out plugs in his laptop shows me some stats and tells me that my laptop is the problem. So i asked "if my laptop is the problem. Why am i getting the same "problems" with android, playstation (sony), Apple (ipad) everyday. Poor customer service Poor internet connection Nothing ever gets fixed Never receive bills in the mail or Emails My wife is pregnant for god sake if i cant have her sit down and get through a simple movie for 20mins, Wait till you see a 5ft nothing pregnant hormonal hispanic girl raise hell. Switched because of the price. Lots of reviews said buyer be ware.... I thought they were just agitators.... I learned over the last 6 months that you get what you pay for. Had internet that was spotty and cut out all the time. Called for service and they kept canceling the service call. Something automatic in their system. Called and set up again, more cancellations after waiting for hours each time. Tip, if you want to cancel with them, make sure you have your bill in front of you. They want your life story and all the super secret numbers off the bill or they won't help you. I can only cancel my internet if I take my equipment down to this store that is in the middle of nowhere compared to where I live. Please stay away unless you are patient and believe that all of these negative reviews are bitter people that have nothing better to do. So pissed right now I could scream. Actually called them regarding my intermittent internet connection. I'm on my computer pretty much all day and it's off and on all day although their tv commercial specifically states they don't have these issues "like other carriers". Furthermore, it's the overall connection as I'm having the issues with my desk top (wired) as well as the wireless on my cell and laptop. While I was on the phone, I noticed an ENORMOUS bill that I discovered was due to my kid ordering movies via the remote. In over two years with them, I've never had a reason to block movie orders or to add an account pin as I've never had issues . . . didn't matter to them, as I'm having to pay about TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS for movies. As much as I understand the movies were ordered from inside my home, a $200 lesson is a bit steep. Currently in search of a provider with better rates and services. read more

I've had Charter before and as a new customer you get internet alone for 39.99 a month for a year then it goes to a little over 62.00/ month after that. They say I'm getting 60mbps but its really 30-35. They will not take your price back down after the 62.00 a month kicks in. They say "we can't do that"... In my world there is no such thing as " I can't "...it is because they " don't want to.". Sometimes there are unexpected "maintenance outages" and service lags. Charter has quite a reputation. And not a good one. But they have by far the best Internet service. ATT offers a really cheap starting price but " You get what you pay for ". Charter starts out at 60mps for $39. AAT starts out at 3 mps at $15.99, it takes all day to down and upload . And the other IPs aren't much better. While you can get faster speeds from other carriers Charters start at 60mps for $39. Is a great deal. read more

Twice I've called them due to tv's picture freezing and screwing up. They were more interested in changing out my one piece modem/WIFI unit. Now there's 2 boxes n wires everywhere ( the internet wasn't even the problem I called in) televisions still screwed up . It doesnt take a genius to figure out the real problem. read more

My first year with Charter, I had 22 service calls. Then they seemed to have things fixed for a little while, but nothing good last for too long. I lose internet consistently at least (minimum) once a month. The last technician that came out ended up getting the issue fixed, but he was not very friendly and was griping the whole time about a customer he had the day before, basically saying that because they were old, they were stupid and that if they didn't know how to use the internet they shouldn't have it. He was trying to find a reason at the time about why he couldn't fix the issue (it was my modem.... no, it was my router.... no, it was both and it was my responsibility to fix it) and how he had another service call to go to and couldn't spend any more time on it. This rubbed me the wrong way and I just finally blew my top and started yelling (I'm surprised he didn't just walk out). I basically told him to do what he had to and get it working, because the modem and router both belong to Charter and they would have to replace it anyway, and that I would be contacting their corporate offices if not fixed, although I doubt that would really have made any difference to them. He tried telling me that he didn't have any replacements with him and then went on about why I should just buy my own (cheaper vs the monthly cost). He spent more time there though, and it turns out it wasn't my modem or router anymore and he actually fixed the problem (issue with the regulator at the pole). Their autopay is a complete joke and cannot be set up in a timely manner. I requested this to be set up on autopay back at the end of December and I have had to pay twice now while waiting for it to kick in. It's 2016 and I have NEVER had ANY autopay that took so long to get set up through a credit card, much less a bank account. They do disclose on their website that it can take up to 45 days. Seriously? It has continued to show "Autopay pending" during all this time. I'm thoroughly disgusted with Charter service, all the way around. And yeah, autopay was probably just about to start for me, but based on principal alone, I canceled it. I'm guessing that if it takes so long to get it in place, people will forget about it and they can slip in a late fee or two. They are the only viable internet option for me at the speeds I need. How Charter and Time Warner Cable can have agreements in place to not overlap their service areas seems alot like an agreed upon monopoly to me, but I guess it's legal. I sure hope we get some fiber optic alternatives soon.... come on google fiber! read more

I have had Charter for years and I always seem to have a connection problem. The few times I called in I got an appointment the next day. On one visit one of the installers was training and the trainee actually was scared of my barking 10 lb dog. On another visit I had returned equipment to the installer he warned my husband it would take a long time to get back to the office. So long in fact I was billed and had several mailings requesting the equipment. However it was all worked out and I did not have any extra charges. I have had at least 4 home visits in 3 years and the installers are always nice. 3 stars cause my services are always challenged by rain storms. read more

I switched to Charter in December 2016. My internet times out often. Tech came out the first week and replaced the modem and router. Still never worked accurately even after. A few weeks later 2 technicians came and located the issue with the main line stretching for a mile out. Nothing they can do as it's a shared line. I got rid of the cable and kept internet to cut costs since I don't watch much tv. My bill is still high; $75 a month and the connection is crap. read more

Turned in equipment & have receipt. Still being billed for it monthly. Told I can't be helped over the phone. Must come back to that location where I waited over an hour once before. The equipment was once removed and I received a prorated bill. Now the rental charges are appearing again. Never had any problems with the internet & I still have it. Switched to streaming & no problems with that either. They need to fix their system because it makes it appear to be a billing scam. read more

Charter Service and Billing practices are horrendous. You sign up with a sales team that tells you one thing then receive a bill that is almost double the rates you were promised based on additional fees $6.99 per box including the DVR box which you already pay @$12 that no one reviews as well as the bundles you were promised don't get billed correctly. I tried to contact them via phone and was on hold 30 minutes before needing to hang up without any contact. Tried working with them through their chat services and the chat personnel can identify the issue but can't resolve it -- you must call. On top of this -- 2 of my boxes skip and so are basically unusable at this time -- not even sure it's worth getting them fixed. read more

More like $58 for internet only, without the introductory promotion (for new customers only). If you've been a loyal customer, they will screw you. If you're in the Fort Worth area and you complain, they laugh and mock you because they know you have no other choice besides dial-up and DSL that's a little faster. The basic cable that used to come through the line for 10 years is gone. Now they want to push you to buy their cable modem, and they shut yours off if you bought one at a store.
