Honest Networks - We don't Monkey around with slow Internet speeds.

We are finishing up week #1 of the one-month trial and so far the speed tests have been good (i.e…read more around 800 megabytes per second for download). Our time with Honest has been good so far. The highlights: Andre did the install and I've not met many ISP techs in my life but we could tell right away he knows his craft inside out and enjoys it. We spoke to Rachel later to iron our some contract/money issues and that went very smoothly as well. It also helps that when you dial the number, you don't get that [expletive] "Hi! Thank you for calling [name of (expletive) company here]. Please listen carefully as our menu options have recently changed (no they have not). Also we are experiencing higher than average call volume, which is our way of saying that we don't know the concept of "average." You get a ACTUAL PERSON (or at least a very convincing artificial intelligence), thank heck. Lastly: the night of 1/6, our speed tanked. I texted the customer support # and within minutes got an answer, and shortly thereafter our down/up speeds were back to normal. All in all, so far so good.... my Cherophobia keeps insisting that /something/ will go tits up but so far it's been solid!

Good when it works, but service is already out for several days after just two months. I consider…read moreinternet service one of these things that should work all the time. I just got service in Dec from Honest. I came back from a five week trip and had no internet upon my return. They diagnosed it as a problem in the lines coming to my unit (so not my issue) but it will still take them 3 days to come out and restore service. I understand that they are less expensive than others, but I can't really deal with outages like this. If it happens one more time, I'll move on to a more reliable provider

I had an appointment, got there early and still had to wait. But it's not the end of the world. I got an offer via text from Verizon. I called the 800 number and it was a little bit complicated so I decided I wanna sit face-to-face, and go over the terms. When I met with the representative, he was not familiar with that exact offer and suggested several times that I should go back and call the 800 number instead. My initial reaction was that I felt like I didn't fit the box of the customer they were looking for because I was looking for a specific program and had quite a few questions about how it worked. What I will say, is it's probably an issue of training. As a former sales manager of hundreds of people, it would've been better if they sat down and tried to understand what I was looking for and then explain what they could offer. It may have worked out that they got the Sale. Ultimately I did take the new plan when it was explained to me correctly. But the woman on the phone took a good 20-25 minutes answering all my questions. It was a win-win for both Verizon for me.

My wife and I spent most of a day re-signing up with Verizon with a verbal agreement that the…read moremonthly bill would be $95. I have been unable after three days trying to reach the sales person by his personal phone and email. I called the 800 number to hear my bill is $195. I am furious and left a message that if they could not honor their agreement, we would cancel the service. (We had left Verizon after about 20 years paying $80/mo and tried Optimum mobile which offered $20/ mo to find they had terrible service.) Dave

Do not buy your phone from this authorized Verizon retailer. Go to a corporate Verizon or Apple…read morestore instead. My experience at the Darien authorized retailer was extremely disappointing. I purchased a new phone one week before leaving on a two-week international trip. I specifically told the salesperson about my upcoming travel because I already had Verizon's international travel plan and wanted to make sure it remained on my account. Instead, the salesperson removed my international plan without my knowledge or permission. That employee is no longer with the store, but the mistake resulted in hundreds of dollars in unexpected international charges. I have now spent three days working with both the Darien store and Verizon customer service trying to get this corrected. Rather than simply acknowledging and fixing what appears to have been an employee error, I was told customer service was "negotiating" on my behalf--as if this were a goodwill request instead of correcting a mistake. This experience convinced me to return my phone under Verizon's 30-day Buyer's Remorse policy and switch to T-Mobile. I am now paying $45/month on its 55+ plan (or $70/month for the premium option with more hotspot data, international features, and streaming benefits), and the overall experience has been significantly better. My advice: if you choose Verizon, work directly with a corporate Verizon store rather than an authorized retailer. Double-check every change made to your account before you leave the store.

I walked out today with four phones, read to give this store 5 HUGE stars... the experience was…read morethat awesome. Johnny helped us, and was patient, accommodating, etc. etc. He installed screen protectors like a pro. I can't say enough good things about working with him -- he even had an associate drive to another store to get me the exact phone color I wanted so that I wouldn't have to come back another day... and he stayed for 90 minutes after closing, on a holiday, to make sure we were 100% set, with all data transferred, prior to leaving. It was truly the most stress-free phone-buying experience I have every encountered. The one caveat -- not quite enough to subtract a full star, but worthy of mention (I wish I could award 4 1/2 stars...) -- is that it does not seem that the store is fully upfront about fees. I had asked multiple times what extra fees there would be, and never really got an answer -- it wasn't until everything was set up that I learned of the per-line setup fees imposed by Verizon (non-negotiable I understand, but it should have been disclosed), plus the "Set up and Go" fee apparently imposed by authorized retailers. TBH the fee was reasonable ($50), given all the time he spent with us, including helping us make arrangements to get phones to family members who are currently in other states... but, again, it should have been disclosed. Just a heads-up to others to insist that you are given all fees upfront, especially when working with authorized retailer in lieu of a corporate store, since they seem discretionary. One additional note: I did have an interaction with a nearby corporate store which was horrendous (and dishonest), so I have no regrets about working with Johnny and the Darien Wireless Zone, and will return!
