Haven't pulled up to this place in over 10 years due to bad service. Went in and it was pretty crowded. Once I placed my order, I waited at least 30 minutes for food. But I get my fish had to cook to order. My kids ordered a chicken sandwich to which we assumed we would get a side or fries at least. We didn't. The waitress lacked asking if we needed a side not disclosed no sides were with the sandwich. Drinks were watered down and we left still hungry. Don't think I'll be going back. read more

We were very disappointed in the food and also the service when we went last week. We took some friends that were visiting Mount Airy and I wish we hadn't chosen Libby Hill. The food was dry; chicken tenders were so hard my husband couldn't eat them. My friend's shrimp wasn't cooked all the way and she couldn't eat it. Our waitress never checked on us once so we couldn't tell her about our food. I love LIbby HIll, but I doubt we will go back anytime soon. Outstanding. It's been years since I have been to a Libby Hill and it was just as great today as I remembered it. The service was spectacular and I highly recommend it. If you are of the opinion you don't like fried seafood this place will change your mind. It comes to the table hot and not greasy. The hush puppies are excellent and the only ding to my review would be with the fries in that they could be crispier but the shrimp will make you overlook that. Try it you will love it. Stopped in yesterday afternoon ordered the broiled flounder and it come out in a puddle of water and bunches crappy seasoning. Baked potato was overcooked and cold. This place has gone from ok to worse than ever. It's the employees who know not how to prepare food. High school students that don't care about food quality. It's every single restaurant nowadays. Mother's Day dinner for six of us, with it being Mother's Day several large groups were waiting to be seated as well as some couples. We waited just a short time and were seated. Drinks delivered quickly and order taken. Food silvered fast. Broiled Flounder, Broiled Salmon, Broiled , Seafood Salad, Fried White Fish, and Chicken all delivered hot and ready to eat with the sides requested. Great food delivered hot and fast. The food was off the mark today. The fried clams were chewy, as were the hush puppies. We also got flounder and shrimp and it all seemed really oily. Maybe they were dropped into the fryer twice to reheat. Really unusual but still disappointing, since we drive 55 minutes. I deducted the stars because of their COVID measures. They have a sign on the door that states WE HAVE HAD A HEALTH RATING OF A FOR 40 YEARS. PLEASE UNDERSTAND SOME PEOPLE CAN WEAR MASKS AND SOME PEOPLE CAN NOT WEAR MASKS. well, we went to libbyhill for the 1st time today... hubby ordered the fried oysters, I had the broiled scallops, with a baked potato and cole slaw, of course hush puppies and a side salad. salad was ok as far as salads go. When I took the foil off my potato, dirt fell onto my plate.... got a new potato, ok, it's a potato. I couldn't eat the scallops, they were bland and sitting in what appeared to be colored water , I had to drink my teas just to get it down. my husbands oysters... way over fried and very bland, he began to feel sick to his stomach after just four. we brought the hush puppies home for our fur baby, he liked them! so $35.00 later, we left the majority of our food on the plates. suffice it to say it's another restaurant here in town that we will not revisit. The servers get the stars, as they were very friendly and on point... and even killed a wasp for me ! read more

The biggest issue I have is the sanitizing of the tables, sauce bottles, and salt-pepper shakers. Using a damp rag to wipe everything down from table to table with the same rag. Using it to wipe off the table tops to ketchup spouts is terribly unsanitary. Watching this unsanitary practice repeated from a table where customers were coughing to another table with the same rag and no cleaner being sprayed or even in sight. Watching the waitstaff passing ketchup bottles from that same table to another one with customers without cleaning it in any manner is extremely unsanitary and disgusting. In this day and age where sanitary practices can be done easily with little effort and very effective cleaners being available is showing how little the staff care and extreme lax by the owners in keeping up their restaurant. read more

Great place to stop! Very clean appearance outside and large amount of cars where in the parking lot Wife and I where greeted by a Hostess and took us to clean table quickly. Waitress immediately greeted us with her southern accent and placed our order, I had broiled flounder with coleslaw,mashed potatoes and hush puppy's and my wife had shrimp scampi with rice and a side salad, also chose the senior servings. Both our dinners was hot and fresh and delicious . and our bill was under $20 dollars.. I would recommend to stop here and enjoy the southern hospitality. read more

This is one of my favorite,local seafood houses and I've ate here over 40 years, but today is my last time because: they charge a fee for using a card. It's modern day and transactions are expected as a "norm" and it was not posted anywhere before entering, or ordering but only advised after I was paying and the charge on my receipt was different than my fee. I don't like or appreciate hidden fees. Take cash if you eat here so you can appreciate the servers more. read more

On Saturdays they have a Country style (white) fish and shrimp, or Cajun (white) fish and shrimp for $5.99 (+ tax). My shrimp were pretty good. The Cajun fish was okay, and it was spicy. Baked potato was cooked just right, and the hush puppies were good. Tea tasted good, and our service was good. (notice I'm using the word "good" a lot) Inside of the restaurant is "tired". We ate there yesterday, got the Senior plates and it was all we could eat. Fresh and tasty. We had Calabash Shrimp with baked potatoes. The potatoes were cooked well. Waitress was busy, but made time to check on us several times. I am sure they are short handed like everyone else is right now. We must all be patient. Oh, the deep-fried sin of popcorn shrimp! Libby Hill is a great place to bring your family and it won't bankrupt you. The food is always good and the service friendly. Restaurants like these (we used to call them fish camps - I don't know why) are vanishing too quickly for my tastes. Stepping into this Libby Hill location will take you back to the 1980s. The decor hasn't changed, and I LOVE IT! It really takes me back to my childhood, and the food is just like I remember it. The lunch specials are plenty of food, and a great price. I live about half an hour away from this location, but when I'm in the neighborhood I'll stop by. Shrimp with onions & mushrooms over rice. No flavor. The "rice pilaf" tasted off but the waitress was kind enough to trade it out for sweet potatoe (underdone). The onions & shrimp tasted like they has been boiled, no flavor, no seasonongs. Best part of the meal were the mushrooms. read more
