While Chase itself is a good bank to have, this location is the worst! Don't expect to get into the ATM machine after hours even IF there are employees inside. The card reader that is supposed to let you inside doesn't even work! I tried to get into the bank to access the ATMs and the reader wasn't working. I saw that there were employees still inside and I knocked on the window to grab their attention to show that I am a chase holder and was trying to get into the ATMs. The asian male with glasses just shooed me away and kept talking with the other employee inside. Even the security guard that was inside didn't even bother trying to help. It seems like after the bank is closed, the employees at this location don't care about their customers and only themselves. This location needs to get their atm reader to work to let us customers get access to the ATM machines and also replace these employees because they only care about themselves once they are "closed" for business. read more

The Private Client Advisor assigned to me was rude and disrespectful. Upon meeting me for the first time, he called me by an ethnic girl's name, then stared at me while delivering the same insincere apology three times. I did not feel comfortable going to his office alone with him, and waited for my banker to accompany me. He proceeded to explain investing options to me, using an example that he stated he uses with inexperienced investors, despite him never asking me about my level of experience (I have managed my own investments for over 30 years). He continued to stare at me, which made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe, so I have closed my Chase accounts. read more

Customer service is the worst. Not even worth one star. Went to teller window, Tried to close CD account and was told we had to make appointment with banker. Why do they not have a banker working? Branch Mgr said I do not have a relationship with their MANAGER that I cannot access my bank account, even when I know my own Account # and access pin with the Teller. All because they refused to pay my credit card with coins given the ATM doesn't accept coins as PAYMENT nor with any checks! Went in to have a chat with a rep to find out what investing options they have (if any). Was greeted by Emmett Peck who is the VP and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) I provided some background info and told him that I've had to go through a short sale and was looking for more information on other investment areas. Bought a home 3 years ago for 350k and sold it for 155k. Pretty much worthless. (Mind you it was a conventional 30 year loan and I put down 35k for the downpayment) 1) He told me that it's people like me walking away from our homes that are causing all these financial and economic problems we are facing today. -- yes, he stared at me point blank with total conviction that he believes this to be the truth. 2) He said that buying a home is NOT an investment. It's to live in and is only for that purpose. So if you are looking for some stellar advice from a condescending banker who blames the customer for the banking and economic problems (which apparently is caused by hardworking Americans who paid too much for their houses) -- this is the bank you should make a beeline for. It is not so much this branch, but this bank as a whole that is a problem. They are a bureaucracy and you are just a number to them. I'm not a Chase customer, but had to step in to help my father access my late mother's money. There were two problems: one inherent in a big bank, and the other a personnel issue at this branch. First, the account managers know almost nothing, they are supposed to fax all documents to to a processing group somewhere else, and then act on the instructions. I was simply stunned at how little the Chase employees knew beyond the fax number: completely useless. Second, the employees at this branch seemed actively hostile to the process. They sent my father away 5 times to get more documents, with each request being more outlandish than the next. I had one guy explain to his internal support team (in my earshot) that the transaction would not work because the documents were not notarized. He was studiously ignoring my gesticulating showing him the notary stamp. He hung up on the support call, and had to start over with someone else. With my father, the guy seemed to relish telling him that more documents would be required. This is a branch that does not care within a bank that does not care. Consider a credit union instead, or Mechanics Bank (semi-local). read more

this place has terrible customer service. there are always "managers" doing nothing walking around, but they never pitch in to reduce lines, etc. In their self importance, the almost refuse to take walk ins for things like notarizing or asking about accounts, and insist you make an appointment. Of course, you can't because when you call to do so you automatically get a recording saying everyone is busy. this is tedious. I've got a few accounts and a safe deposit box at this location, and I've always had good service, when they were WaMu, and now that they are Chase. The same employees seem to have been hired on in the acquisition. Each person who has helped me there has been courteous and polite, and they give good personal service. Using the ATM is cool because deposits can go in as a stack of checks that are scanned automatically (pretty good success rate, too). There is a decent sized parking lot in the back, so that's always a good way to avoid the militant meter maids, who will give you a parking ticket if you do so much as look at them funny. read more

3.5 wasted hours later, I'm giving up on JPM Chase! Tried to open a new account and divest from Well Fargo that committed fraud on its own customers, but was treated so badly, I decided not to waste any more time. Beware those of you who have a trust! While my partner was able to put his trust in a new account in Chase Martinez, with the exact same date and Cert of Trust as mine, I was refused in Berkeley by their ignorant legal team. In addition, and most egregiously, the staff handling my application ignored my email, clarifying the legal matter in question, and the manager then ignored my request for a telephone call. This is amazingly derelict business behavior! (And the staff had acted so pleasantly during our face to face encounter.) In the meantime, I researched Chase's record on critical environmental issues and discovered they are the worst US bank for supporting coal and tar sands projects--6 times worse than their nearest rival, Bank of America, and have greatly increased this investment in 2018 over 2017. So much for any moral superiority over Wells! Despite their great cash incentives for new business, Chase is strangely sabotaging its own interests. read more

I had actually left Chase many years ago when they bought my last bank, and was very happy with WAMU. Sadly, they're now Chase & along w/ the other big bad banks who brought the global economy to the brink of ruin through their malfeseance. Sure the people at this branch are super nice to you when they think you'll open a new account or give them money. As soon as they've got you in they will not respond to you at all. If you follow up you get an impersonal letter telling you it "it's been too long so they can't address the issue" (because they ignore emails for at least a month!). So I guess she didn't ignore me completely - she at least forwarded one of my emails to the corporate office for a rejection letter. If you're thinking of joining Chase, think again. I too am an ex-Wamu customer. I had no choice in this takeover, and like the Chris O., I gave it a good year to test the waters. I'm now in the process of moving 2 of my business accounts, a checking, savings and a joint checking to Mechanics Bank. Why? 1) I went in there a few days asking about a car loan. "Oh we don't do those here. You have to call the 800 number". She gave me a card with the number. I got home and entered the number and went through such an unbelievable maze of prompts that I'm gonna do a Youtube video on it. Really! The final result is that there was NO way to talk to anyone, and I had to apply online. What absolute crap! 2) The Washington Mutual website was well layed out, and I found their Billpay to be so incredibly useful. When the big switch came along, I found a crappy unbelievable unintuitive website that is poorly layed out and slow as molasses. I have to click on FIVE (*5) links just to get a list of bills upcoming in the order they're gonna be yanked out. 3) Speaking of Billpay, I guess its normal, but a MINIMUM of a 5 day float. Your money is yanked out immediately. If it's a holiday or a weekend is in the way, you're looking at 7-8 days where they have your money. I hate it. 4) Last month their online website went down for 2-1/2 days. Yes, I said DAYS! It was on the news all over. To the customers? Absolute radio silence after it went back up. No apologies. 5) The 2nd to last time I went into this bank for a specific need, and I got "upsold" into a 2nd account I didn't need or want. That's my fault. But I just find the whole thing sleazy. read more

Let me begin by saying that I am mortified with my experience as a new Chase customer post Wamu merge :-( I recently have had some tragic mishaps as a customer of Chase that I do not wish to disclose, and that of which I hold Chase accountable for! Never once was Chase employees apologetic for the inconvenience they burdened me with, or for how the matter was mishandled in their hands until I acknowledged it LOUDLY! And People let me tell you about my personal banking experience tooo! After going back and forth with phone representatives, I had to physically make a trip to the bank to help resolve some of the issues promptly. Only to be treated like a pest, an inconvenience, when that was their bright and shinning moment to provide me with superb customer service. The manager of that location ( can I write her name on here? She wears a name tag.) disregarded me as a customer and as a person; never acknowledging me, making eye contact with me, but in my presence speaking of me, loudly, and rudely. Her employee was trying to correct some of the mix ups and bad customer service, but he needed her approval to proceed, only for her to treat me so terribly. Oh please believe I went all loud and proud with insight for everyone in line and with a personal banker, including THAT manager. I let everyone know what kind of service I was getting and their lack of remorse. If I can leave with a piece of advice, NEVER EVER BANK WITH CHASE EVER EVER EVER EVER, UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PERSONAL INFO BETRAYED AND TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, AND YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE SHIT! read more

This is the home of the best banker ever: Ariana. I have been going to this bank for over a year now, beginning when it was still a WaMu. Ariana is the nicest and most genuine banker ever, if not just the nicest and most genuine PERSON ever. She remembered me immediately when it had been nearly 10 months since I had last sat down with her. She has helped me set up a number of accounts and take advantage of the $100 bonuses that Chase offers from time to time. And she always does it with a big smile. We now high-five whenever I stop by the bank. She rocks! read more

The people I've dealt with at the Chase Branch on Solano Ave have been less than impressive. While they eventually kept their word and gave me a credit for opening an account, it took me at least 5 times following up over 2 months to make it happen. And the fact that they weren't going to give me the credit until I complained doesn't sit well, especially given the fact that they didn't even mention that they weren't going to give me the credit until I'd been there for 30 minutes. Don't open an account here. You might consider another branch instead, or just a different bank all together. read more

I was a Wamu customer prior to the buy out by Chase. I am very dissatisfied with the continual service I receive with Chase. On more than one occasion I have had to contact the bank to correct banking statements or withdraws from my account. Whether it be computer gliches, improper management, or faulty ATMs, I find that I have to watch Chase like I would a child, who only corrects thing when caught. As of late I have had to notify Chase about a check dollar amount that was incorrect, deposited into my account, I contacted Chase a week ago about the check and the problem was rectified on my statement within two days. However the checks original writer, (Whom is also a Wamu/ Chase customer) was drafted the incorrect amount even after the bank was notified. I called again today and was told that even though Chase ATM falsely read the deposited check, and was notified a prior about the discrepancy, the original check writer had to take the time out of her day to call Chase to rectify her bank statement. Basically long story short: If Chase makes a mistake; They won't do anything about it until you are caught. I can only wonder how Chase can take such and unprofessional approach to business. read more
