With parking meters just outside, im pretty much in and out n out and about my day. Loved it. I see a lot of tourists, which shows how busy this bank can be, which is good. Very clean and organized. I needed to find a bank that was more convenient for me to have easy access to my spending money other than tracking down a Bank of America to avoid the dreaded Non-ATM fees. I HATE fees. So, I opened an account here a few months ago because Chase branches and ATMs are more readily available. I received the most amazing service from Mr. Michael Martinez. He explained the products and I opened the perfect account for my needs quickly, painlessly AND with a $300 bonus for opening my new account. This branch is conveniently located on Ocean Blvd and is a typical example of what large banks have become...large spaces filled with empty desks and an abundance of teller windows and only 1 or 2 tellers working whenever I make a trip inside. Mostly friendly service, convenient hours that include Saturdays and 3 ATMs outside. This bank opened an account for me on 1-7-2020. After changing my direct deposits and all my auto withdrawals they sent me a letter saying they were closing my account as of 1-21-2020. I called to find out why and they refused to tell me. I assume they are discriminating against me because one of tellers I went to was Asian and she was giving my girlfriend and I dirty looks. She was Asian as well and I think she didn't like her choice of men. (Me). She looked at her as to say why are you dating outside your race. 5 days later I received the letter. "People don't let money, oooooh, don't let money change you....almighty dolla.." This is my branch of choice. It fits into my routine when I have shopping to do at several places in the downtown area. A two minute drive on Ocean Blvd and I am there. They validate parking, but if you don't like parking structures and want to street park, get there early and you can score some metered parking adjacent to the building. As a rule.....banks suck. They act like it is THEIR money not yours. As an L.A area native from waaaay back, I've been through them all. Remember Crocker Bank, Security Pacific? Yeah, they are not around for a reason. Now, if we can only get rid of Wells Fargo. I like my current bank, and I know that they tell you not to hide your money under a mattress, but I am OG. Cash is STILL king. Never put your delicate eggs in one basket. I keep enough in the bank to process checks and bills. If I have too much money in the bank, I pull it out and put up the cash in a secret spot. (Hint, it isn't the mattress) Ya know....you may have to make an escape. Shit hapens, sometimes. And if you know the relationship with banks and the Feds, don't tie up your money in ANY bank. Perhaps you know about the Target problem of stolen debit card information. I am in that group. So today I visited this branch to get a replacement. I got a lot more than a replacement. The agent rearranged my financial stuff and I will be saving hundreds of dollars in year 2014. Thank you Target for prompting me to review my finances. Twice in one day. This review is for Andy Blanco only. I despise Chase bank for so many reasons (high fees, horrendous customer service, lack of communication between departments, few live people in branches, to name a few) so I decided to close my account. I then had a situation which required me to reopen the account. The sheer dread of having to walk into a branch, wait to speak with a banker who is overworked and really could not be bothered to care, was enough to make me defensive upon entering the building. But my meeting with Mr. Blanco was so pleasant that I was shocked! Andy was not only helpful, and friendly, he knew how to get answers to my questions instead of transferring the burden onto me to make another phone call and be put on hold for the rest of my life. Andy also did not shame me by telling me what I did wrong (this happened on the phone with a wire transfer customer service rep & in person visit with a banker on Second street). Decided to go inside to talk to a personal banker and I sat there with my boyfriend waiting for one soul to acknowledge us and not one greeted us or said, "we'll be right with you". No communication at all whatsoever and after waiting over 15min.,we were able to talk to one and just said that we have to call customer service. Are you kidding me?! Why are they there for if they are no help at all? I like this location because it's close to where we live,but if the customer service sucks,I guess I will have to go to another location on Bellflower Blvd.which I feel employees value your business. I deposited the check on Monday 08/16, on Thursday 08/19, the scammer canceled the contract and requested a refund, I returned the money that had been in the account for 3 days, on Friday morning I saw that the check had returned! This bank is average as banks go, a little small but clean and with a good number of employees. I like that Chase has a clean layout of their banks and this one opens pretty late. ATMs are conveniently located outside. If you're coming from downtown, you can catch the A, D or B and get off right in front or across the street. Most of my banking is all done online these days, but for emergencys that require human contact, I'm glad this place at least has its act together. read more

I should no longer be surprised when I feel ripped off by a bank, but it's always infuriating. My beef with Chase concerns checking account fees. Chase imposes a monthly $12 fee unless you keep a $1,500 minimum monthly balance or meet other requirements. It's not huge money, but as a matter of principle I try hard to avoid getting dinged for this fee -- after all, they're lending out my money and profiting on it. My account balance was just under the requirement when I deposited two checks on the first of the month... which apparently got processed on the third. From that point on, I had more than DOUBLE the minimum requirement for the entire month. My average daily balance for the month was AT LEAST $3,000 or probably more than $4,000. Nonetheless, I was dinged the $12 fee. When I called to ask why this fee was being imposed, the Chase rep adamantly insisted the fee would stand. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she claimed to be a supervisor. When I asked her for her name, SHE HUNG UP ON ME!! This kind of cavalier, arrogant, nickel-and-dime-you attitude sucks. He also had to spend about 40 minutes hanging on the telephone. He hung in there and got it done. If you go to this Chase, ask for Mike. He's very focused on good customer service.
