However, the agent informed me that in order to activate the card and change the PIN number, I would need to call the number stated on the information paper she provided. It was a bit inconvenient to have to go through this process instead of doing it at the bank, but I accepted it. I rarely use my debit card since I prefer using my credit cards for points and rewards. A few days later, I decided to call the number she had given me, but to my surprise, it did not work. The number appeared to be disconnected. When I attempted to contact their customer service, unfortunately, I received a recorded message that says it was outside of their operating hours, and I was unable to receive any further assistance. This wasn't just a minor inconvenience--it was a bait-and-switch scam, plain and simple, especially egregious given my upcoming knee replacement surgery, which makes compact vehicles physically unbearable. In Augusta, with limited Uber or Lyft options, I had no choice but to accept the subpar vehicle to attend business meetings and scout housing. I needed a car, but I expected and deserved what I paid for.When I disputed this fraudulent charge with Wells Fargo, I expected support from a bank I've trusted for four decades.
