I was so excited when I got to Chateau de Chantilly. It's not every day that I'm in this part of NoVA so I convinced all my friends to stop by on our way out of town. One thing is for sure: the decor is so cute and I bet the work atmosphere on a day over the week would be all you need to enjoy a cute little coffee while you work in a lot too loud cafe. It's the kind of coffee shop you'd imagine in the movies with lots of sweet pastries & an abundance of latte flavors. While this is true, almost all our friends picked the s'more lattes, and for the price, our minds weren't necessarily mind blown. By the time I got home, the matcha crinkles I got were super hard (almost impossible to eat), and the only thing I was really able to eat was the red velvet cake that I did not regret one bit (though - if I did have one piece of advice, it would be to switch to cream cheese frosting). It was still good with lots of space but super pricey. Would come again but probably wouldn't be in a rush just yet. read more

The staff is very friendly, and the drink orders come out fairly quick too. Highly recommend Mei An's paint and sip events! I went to the La La Land and Mamma Mia events, they were so fun, and the live music was amazing!! She has wine and macarons included in the price (as well as the painting supplies). It's a cute space inside to be sure And there are plenty of options But the quality of the food leaves something to be desired. They tend to be dry, lack flavor, and overall underwhelming. For example, I'm a big fan of the Disneyland raspberry macaron, they have a version of this- the raspberry look old, the cream is only in the center instead of throughout, and it tastes like cheap whip as opposed to flavorful delicate cream. A go-to pastry/cafe spot in the area! The pastries are always delicious. The space is decorated cozily and whimsically - a good amount of seating with 2 floors, and even though it's typically very busy, you can usually find a spot to sit. Personally, I don't think coffee or matcha drinks are their strong suit. However, I do enjoy the periwinkle (lavender) latte and their teas! The dirty chai is also delicious. Well, no, let's get into the décor first. The presentation of this bakery is in a class of its own. As soon as you enter, you forget you're in a random building in front of a Lotte. The tens to hundreds of hanging lights with their unique charm just welcome you in if you're looking up, and if you can tune out the crowd and the line for a brief moment. You could tell the interior designer probably went bananas with the design budget. Check out the back room with the bookshelves! The high ceiling, the lights, the glass cupboards with hardwood doors for the pastries, the different kinds of seating arrangements, and everything else about this place is amazing. Don't forget to check out the upstairs! Okay, the place itself is quite charming and sets itself apart from other bakeries. How are the pastries themselves? Now, this is hard because the place itself could be playing a psychological trick on me. I feel like Chateau is at least 10% better than any other place. If you asked me which place I wanted to go hang out and have a quick bite and drink, I'd always pick Chateau. If I'm getting a birthday cake, I'm going to Tour le Jours. Otherwise, I'd be here. I also never had any unpleasant experiences with the staff here. Of course, they got to recoup some of those costs of the designs, the place itself, and the high-quality pastries, so the prices here reflect that. That's the only thing preventing me from coming back as often as I'd like. That's not a problem for Chateau though. The place is always crowded and the food is always sold. This spot is amazing--I'm so glad that I found it. The space itself is incredible--there is so much room, tons of different kinds of seating, TWO floors, and various areas to do work. I love the warm lighting and homey/antique vibe. I came here for a few hours to do work and was comfortable the whole time. I go to Chateau De Chantilly Cafe a lot for a little pick me up. It's a cute little place with a cozy, elegant vibe. The interior is bright and has a nice book/academia aesthetic for pictures. It's perfect for a chill coffee date or going out for a little treat moment. They usually have a seasonal drink menu and I tend to try it once. If it's not a seasonal drink, I usually get the cafe saigon. It was well made, It's sweet with the contrasting punch of the strong coffee. The pastries are the main thing. My favorite savory item is the spinach croissant. The filling is delicious and the puff pastry has a nice bite. I've gotten a few cakes there for birthdays as well. I've gotten fresh cream with fruit, mango, and red velvet. Honestly, I really enjoy the cakes. Personally one of my favorite treats. I'm glad they also sell by the slice. They're not overly sweet. Service was friendly and try to get people checked out as fast as possible. Friday evenings and weekends are always busy. They would get really long lines those days. I went a few times Friday morning. I really love getting time to sit around and enjoy my coffee and treat. Overall, it's a lovely cafe to unwind, catch up with a friend. Highly anticipated visit. Ive been waiting to visit this place for a while now so it was hard to contain my excitement. There are so many pastries. I wanted to limit my self to only two which was a difficult task. I spent about 5mins just looking at all of the options in terms of pastries. I was very pleased with the options I ended up with (Cookies and Cream Cruffle & Chocolate Chateau Croll). I could go back and visit this place 20 times and still have a variety of pastries to choose between. I've only been once but it seems as though they rotate between their pastries. Another hotspot my friend took me took me to when I had a trip back to NOVA. This bakery is huge! I'm surprised one existed in Chantilly; apparently it opened right about the time when I moved away so I'd missed it. But there's two whole floors, so plently of seats for everyone. I really like decor and design they had going on, with all the books-- something about it just made it really pleasing to the eye. I had ordered the lychee mango frape, which was refreshing, sweet, and something different than my usual. I really needed a switchup anyways. But it was like a blended smoothie with bits of lychee in there. Overall not bad. My friend and and I got the blueberry croll to share and while the concept is great, the pastry itself was super hard. We had a rough time trying to cut it up and eat it. Perhaps if it was freshly baked in the morning it'd been a lot better. I have to mention, there were two lines simultaneously. One was surrounding the pastries and one was for the register. Stopped here on a rainy day after visiting the Air and Space museum. It's located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. When you walk in you are greeted with a cozy ambiance of plants and tons of pastries. I didn't try any but admired them all. There was no line so I walked up right away, we ordered a latte and cappuccino. Both were good, not the best I've ever had but not bad. Still as delightful as I remember! They have tons of beautifully made classic and trendy desserts. We got their pistachio croll and ham and cheese quiche, toasted them up at home, and they were scrumptious. One of the tastiest quiches I've ever had! The croll (croissant roll) was beautifully flaky, crispy and fluffy, and filled with a sweet pistachio custard. It was delicious! First, the pastries were good-- this wasn't the problem. We got three cronuts (chocolate, pistachio and strawberry). If you've been looking for this pastry and can't get your hands on it, this is a great place to try them. Also got a vanilla cruffin-- the pastry is nice and flaky, but the vanilla cream is just slightly sweet. My friend also got the flat pistachio and white chocolate croissant which he said was good but super messy! In total for six things it was around $30. Each pastry averages around $4.50-$6. There's seating upstairs and downstairs, and some outside, but if you come on a crowded day you'll probably do better to take your treats to go. Parking right in front is also limited, but there's a little lot in the back. The inside of the bakery is cute, but again, limited space at times. What's really frustrating and will be the reason we won't likely return is how long it took to pay. I usually never have a problem standing in line and waiting but there was a line basically to the back of the bakery and we didn't move for 30 minutes. Why? At one point no one was ringing anyone up and just making coffees. I am not exaggerating when I say it didn't move for 30 minutes-- we got in line at 11:45am and didn't start to get up to the register until a little after 12:15pm. read more

Yelp totally brought me here! The only reason why I'm not giving 5 Stars is because this place needs to be larger and I think the price point is slightly inflated. This cafe, dessert shop is amazing. It's a combination of an over the top Paris theme meets Korean pastry shop mash-up. There are very similar pastry shops in K-Town/Annandale and around the area selling similar items. Like Shilla Bakery, Tous Les Jours across the street, Paris Baguette, Toi Moi Bakery, Paris Bakery and Magnolia Dessert Bar. I noticed similar pastries like light fluffy breads filled with light, fluffy, sweet butter creams, fried croissants, hot dog rolls, matcha tea desserts, and other really unique varieties like croissants with cookies baked on top, lots of really amazing creations. Each one of these dessert shops are different but I prefer the ones with self-serve. I like that. You can pick THE ONE dessert that sparks your interest. Each delectable dessert is about $4 to $5 bucks. A little pricier than what I am accustomed to. They offer bagged treats for $6 and up to $8. Sweet rolls for about $6 and change. The slices of cake....which look absolutely divine, run $8 - $10 PER SLICE! I selected a hot dog roll, a bacon and cheese roll, and a ube cream filled croissant roll, with tax $16. I did not order a beverage. I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was hectic. You self-serve select your items and the line lands you to the front where you pay or order a beverage. If it's crowded, like the day I came, there is literally no place to sit. So they can't really accommodate their patrons. I saw people sitting outside in the covered patio area, but it was raining and quite chilly out. And people were anxiously hovering, waiting for other patrons to finish eating so they could snatch up a seat. It's similar to when a parking lot is full but you kinda follow someone walking to their car so you can snag the parking space. It's like that, lol. So there is that aspect. Food was yummy. First when you walk in, the pastries are self served and you grab a tray. You then pay at the cash register where you can also order drinks or cakes. They have free water and two levels to eat or study on. Nutella donut: super fluffy and chocolatey! I highly recommend if you're craving chocolate Strawberry Croffle: tastes just like a strawberry pocky's and is crunchy on the outside. There's a perfect amount of filling inside. The prices are pretty fair with the self serve desserts being about $5-8 each while that cakes range from $8-12 a slice. I definitely want to come back again to try more flavors. This last time around i got the dalgona latte and at first the sips were just milky so i mixed it so the expresso would settle. And omg when i got to the top portion where the dalgona chips were i was dying! It went from level 1 sugar to level 100. I was legit coughing and spitting from how sweet it was...but just look how pretty the drink appeared...I always eat with my eyes as much people do so i don't know why this place just doesn't please me. What a well decorated place, I have always seen it driving by or at the Korean bbq next door, I haven't been in it until just now! I don't know why I haven't been earlier. What a great fun range of different bakery good items to choose from! It's mostly self-serve for the most part , besides the drinks behind the counter and some other specialty goods. A great spot to probably just grab a great coffee hang out , chat and chill or do a little remote work from. The back room does get a little hot. I don't think there was great circulation back there. Okay so I've been wanting to go here for YEARS!! Years! And I finally hiked my butt to Chantilly. I probably in the future would go in the morning so I could actually have a better selection of pastries. I went at 9:30 pm so that was probably a poor decision! The guy at the register obviously was new or very confused. When we said our order he kept asking which pastry that was. Which is weird because you'd think he would know the names of the desserts. I said "can I please have the fruit tart? The berry one?" And he was so confused and kept asking what I meant. And then my boyfriend asked for the strawberry cream cake slice. Which I believe was the name on the little slip/title in the case. And the guy at the register asked my boyfriend to point it out for him. Again, you should know what is in your case. What was also odd was the fact that one of the workers was trying to clock out. And he couldn't wait for me to pay. So the worker at the register cancelled our order and let the other man clock out. Honestly you couldn't wait 3 seconds for me to tap my card and pay? He then had to redo the entire order. The line was so long and I think it is because of the register man (I believe his name was Syed). It was just super disrespectful and kind of unprofessional in my opinion. The desserts made up for it all. The pastries we got were absolutely delicious! Not the best I've had, but still very good! I wanna try the Dubai chocolate croissant next. Typically this is a solid option. My gf introduced me to this cafe and we visit every so often. The pastries here are very good, especially when they're fresh. The desserts in the cold displays up front are almost always good. The only one I wasn't a huge fan of was the baklava but I'm very specific about the baklava I like. My gf got a red velvet cake from here one time and I still think it's my favorite red velvet cake to date. It was so soft and fluffy, including the icing. The drinks here are hit or miss. Some are really good while others leave something to be desired. The service here is typically quick and friendly. They can definitely get very busy so it's good to be patient, especially on weekends. The staff have also remade drinks that weren't good before which was nice. The ambiance is that of a little cafe. There's seating but is first come first serve. The weekends are definitely where it gets busiest. But there's also some outdoor tables for when the weather is nice. I'd recommend this cafe if you're considering it. It's good more often than not. And you'd be hard pressed to not find anything you like with all the options they have here. read more

Such an amazing cafe that suffers from it's own popularity. I can't disagree that the cafe isn't the right size but seating can be problematic. I would suggest having some tables outside. Inside, there's comfy chairs towards the back along with a beautiful library space, up front is where all the delicious snacks are and there are lots. I couldn't tell you the names of each one that we got except for the one off the left was more custardy and the one in the middle was our least favorite. I come to this cafe weekly and usually am met with fantastic drinks and ambiance. Today I was met with the opposite. I came on Sunday, May 31st, around 2:00pm with a couple friends and we ordered a strawberry matcha with oat milk. We've had it multiple times before and never had an issue with the taste. This time, we were not satisfied with the taste, which was okay because we were going to communicate it with the staff and hopefully resolve the issue. When presenting this problem with the staff, we were met with passive aggressive and rude attitudes the whole transaction. We had communicated that we were unsatisfied and if we could return the drinks (we did not drink out of them, besides the initial taste) for another drink in exchange. The initial worker I talked to seemed dumbfounded as if I was the first customer they had ever spoken to that was unsatisfied with their drink. Another lady with braids came to speak to us and this is where the passive aggressiveness began. To reiterate, we had no issue with communicating our issue and finding a solution without causing any unnecessary problem. It felt like me communicating my dissatisfaction with the drink was an inconvenience to the staff. If customers don't feel comfortable conveying their concerns comfortably to the staff.. why should we continue to come back. read more

My friend and I visited Chateau De Chantilly after dinner in need of coffee and dessert! It was a beautiful aesthetic throughout the cafe. Large ceilings accompanied by unique lighting and lots of seating space. I particularly enjoyed the back room that resembled the library right out of Beauty and the Beast! Despite the cafe being well decorated, the food and ice cream, specifically the Affogato, were lackluster. For context, I usually enjoy my ice cream to espresso ratio as more espresso to flavor the ice cream in each bite. Chateau's was far too much vanilla ice cream with an espresso shot mixed in. It was very thick and we were unable to choose the type of ice cream in the mix. As for the Mocha Chocolate Cake, it was a soft, pillowy and tasted much like a tiramisu, one of my favorite desserts! It was a bit on the pricey side, but had a delicious cream and dusted chocolate on top. Appreciated the chocolate shaped coffee bean on top. The service was speedy and the cafe was very neat. Overall: 4.5 stars One of the better local coffee/cafe shops in the Chantilly area. Very pretty interior and space to do work or have small get-togethers. Pastries and coffee/drinks are good (not very different from other local cafes/chains, such as Paris Baguette or Tous Les Jours). Parking is relatively limited directly in front/side of the cafe but there are more spots toward the back (short walk). Highly recommend this local cafe/coffee shop. Food Quality: 4 stars Pastry/drink selections are relatively similar to Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours (not a bad thing as I do like pastries/drinks from there as well). Just to say, nothing particularly 'unique' but still good and a safe choice. Prices are fairly comparable as well. Service/Experience: 4.5 stars Very pretty/unique interior with friendly/welcoming staff. Prompt service. Right when you walk in the cafe is beautifully decorated with nice mood lighting and eclectic seating. You grab whatever you want on trays and pay upfront. The seating is first come first serve so it may be a bit difficult. I was overwhelmed with all the baked goods and drink options they offered. The strawberry croissant I got was filled with a strawberry cream that reminded me of the asian cookie snack, yanyans. The outside was crispy and flaky. It really was nostalgic and delicious! The pastries are very visually pleasing- although its flavor might not live up to those expectations. The prices range from around $5-$9 depending on why you get. Most of the treats are filled with some cream or another. If you want something warmed up they'll just give you a plate to microwave it yourself. The drinks were pretty good with lots of options (none too exceptional really). The ambiance is what really makes the place good as it provides nice seating and aesthetics. They have cameras around the place so I felt safe leaving my laptop out to run to the bathroom. Service was good but a little slow even with many people working. read more
