Went on Tuesday for dinner with some friends during Ramadan. The place was very busy after 6 as people were breaking their fast. We ordered food and ate family style. The salad and crispy eggplant were excellent. The fresh bread was delicious. We got two main dishes to share see the pictures for more info. The restaurant is well decorated and feels like a local hang out. If you are looking for an Uzbek restaurant experience this is definitely one worth trying as we will go again very soon.

What a great experience. A nice cozy little restaurant with an authentic feel to it. The staff was very nice. The service was fast. The food came out quick. The chicken samsa and the sauce perfectly balanced each other out. The lamb shank was delicious. It was cooked well and I didn't get a gamey taste or smell from it. The yogurt salad was refreshing. The chocolate cake was calling my name but I kept myself under control.

Very welcoming Uzbek cuisine at an affordable price. I've been a fan Kavsar for years, but I'm happy to discover this delightful new Uzbek restaurant. It's a little less fancy than Kavsar, but everything is delicious. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. The service is good and it's fun to eat here. It's very clean and well lit.

Officially now our #1 favorite spot to eat in Pittsburgh! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The decor inside is very relaxing and makes you feel at home. We ordered a pumpkin samsa, beef samsa, and ezme to start. The fillings in the samsa are so flavorful and the pastry is light and crispy. The tomato garlic sauce is a perfect accompaniment. Ezme is one of my favorite things to eat, and this one did not disappoint in the least. Very refreshing. The fresh herbs added so much flavor! We split the Sultans chicken and fried lagman entrees. Both dishes were presented as beautifully as they were seasoned. The chicken had the most amazing sauce that added the perfect touch to the baba ghanoush. The noodles and beef in the fried lagman were tender. Everything we ate felt refreshing and not heavy. We took a piece of honey cake to go. We are going to be thinking of this place for a while. A new go-to spot for us!

1st time trying Uzbek food & top notch! My mother & I decided to try this restaurant going based off of reviews, we weren't disappointed. Only minus was both entrees were mad oily & greasy. Wish they would have cut down on the level of oil. We ordered the Chicken Samsa for apps- 1/order so we got 2- came with a side of a tomato/cumin sauce- not spicy but very different. The samsa was similar to our desi samosa, but the shell covering was flaky/soft & light unlike a samosa which is crusty. The filling was mild but oh-so-good. It paired well with the sauce. For entrees we ordered the Uzbek Plov- the national dish and was truly great but oily. It had chickpeas and sweetness to the dish & an overall cumin flavor not overpowering though. The lamb was tender and NOT gamey ((thank goodness)). Really good! The Plov was served with Bread & a side Tomatoe salad. We also ordered the Fried Lagman- stir fried noodles w/ vegetables & beef strips- very very greasy & oily, felt they could have cut down on the oil. Overall decent with fennel seeds flavor. They were both good portions for 2. We had leftovers as well. Will definitely come back to try other options. Truly wish they could decrease the oil in the food.

Have been hearing all the hype around this place and the Uzbek food in town so had to check it out! Waited til my Mongolian friend was in town to take her as she's familiar with the food. We both really enjoyed our meals! The Plov was tasty and filling, not pictured is the amazing bread that comes with it. For desert we split a napoleon, sooooo good. The service was super warm and friendly, the West End is a wild tiny neighborhood so it was fun to walk around afterwards. Really happy these guys have made Pittsburgh their home, also an epic video plays in the restaurant. I want to be invited to that cook out!

Incredibly novel food experience! This is the epitome of comfort food. Think wintery warm dishes like warm dumplings in soup, delicious dips, and amazing noodle dishes(Laghman). Just a heads up, they don't serve alcohol and it's not byob either. They have two separate dining rooms side by side that look like separate restaurants, so if the place looks packed be sure to still ask for a table because there could be plenty of room. This place is very popular so I'd recommend a reservation.

Chaykhana is a cozy hidden gem in PGH serving delicious Uzbek comfort food. The dumplings in broth were flavorful and reminded me of the dumpling soups I grew up with in my Chinese household. My son LOVED the dumplings too. The noodles with beef and peppers were savory and perfectly chewy. Sadly, they were out of plov and manti by the time we arrived, so go early if you want to try those! What really blew me away was the labneh. It was hands down the best I've ever had. Creamy, garlicky, and perfectly seasoned. The trio of dips with 2 types of flatbread was a great starter. The service was warm and attentive and the restaurant is quiet and peaceful, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. Can't wait to come back!

Never tried Uzbek cuisine but was curious so stopped by quick to order something to bring home and it was goooddd. I'm picky so I chose something that seemed safe lol. Staff seemed attentive and offered water while we waited, definitely wanna go back to dine in soon!

I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays evenings ago with my wife and twins for dinner. I was looking on Yelp for a place to eat whenever I came across Chaykhana and asked my wife if she wanted to try some Uzbeki food. Upon her agreement we ordered through their website which took us to toast. We placed an order for an hour in the future and I am happy to say that whenever we arrived at that time our food was ready. This restaurant is located on South Main Street in the West End in what I only assume is the former Pizza Bellamonte due to it being on my credit card and the receipt I got. In any case, parking here was easy and I was able to go in and get the food myself. The inside of the restaurant is cozy with seating for around 20 people or so. It felt nice and clean and had a couple of TV's on with food shows. One of them really caught my attention where a person was cooking what I think was an Uzbek Plov in a giant cooking vessel (6 ft wide) and | during the couple of minutes that I was in this restaurant, I couldn't turn away. Pretty quickly though I had my food and was on my way. For dinner on this evening I ended up ordering the Uzbek Ploy while my wife went with the Fried Lagman. Then we also added on a beef samsa, a chicken samsa and some fries for the kids. The menu described my entree as the Uzbek national entree made with long grain rice and topped with a succulent blend of slow roasted lamb and complemented with savory steamed carrots and raisins. It described my wife's as hand pulled noodles, wok fried vegetables and braised beed in a rich beef stock. The first thing that I ended up eating here was both of the samsa which I found to be delicious. I was actually surprised at the size when the price was taken into account. In any case the puff pastry was delicious and I really enjoyed the filling on both of them, especially the onions and cheese inside the chicken one. After easting half of each of those, saving the other half for my wife, I moved onto my entree. While it may not have looked like much, it ended up being quite enjoyable. The lamb was cooked nicely and I thought that it paired nicely with the rice pilaf. Then the carrots and raisins both added pops of sweetness which may sound weird but went nicely with my dish. My wife also enjoyed her meal here as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that everything we got here tasted pretty good and I know my wife would love to try the manti which were not available on the day we ordered.

This is a cute little gem I found today for the 1st time. I have never had Uzbek cuisine and it was pretty good. I will be back to try other things. I had the Uzbek national dish called Plov which is lamb chunks, raisins and steamed carrots over rice. Lamb was a tad dry but still good. I enjoyed the sweet flavor it provided. I also ordered the Labneh and I wanted to try a beef samsa which was definitely unique! Parking is a little tricky as its street parking but if you haven't eaten here before it's worth it!

This might be some of the best food I've had in Pittsburgh. It hits all my standards for a 5 star worthy restaurant. The food was original and something you can't really find anywhere else in Pittsburgh, even in the country. There was a wide selection of Uzbek dishes. The cooking was masterful, I can definitely tell the chef was good at cooking. Each dish was done masterfully and had layers to its flavor. The restaurant itself was newly renovated and clean. The decor was nice and service was fast. Recommended dishes [Beshbarmak] the lamb shank in this dish was amazing. Something that easily costs $50+ in a fine dining restaurant. The soup was great, only thing is I felt the noodles were a bit over cooked and too soft. Might be done that way on purpose though. [Fried Lagman] the noodles in this dish, on the other hand, were perfect. Handmade with elasticity to it (not sure how to describe it, but has a good chewiness to it). Was a bit on the oily side, might benefit from a tad less oil. The beef in this dish was also very tender and flavorful. I really wasn't expecting this dish to be that good because it looked a bit American style, but I was pleasantly surprised. [Uzbek Plov] my friend didn't recommend this dish, but we still ordered it anyways. So much better than expected. The rice was a bit undercooked for me, but I feel like it's like this for Uzbek cuisine, not really a cooking technique problem. The lamb was great, and it really hit the expectations we had for plov. Flavorful and not too dry. [Eggplant spread] the spread was great, but the brass that came with it was even better. Crispy, but not oily. A bit on the sweet side which I loved. The Uzbek bread was also great, crispy yet moist and fluffy in the interior. Honestly, every dish was at the level of my expectation and went beyond. This is a restaurant where I felt the chef really cared about cooking. It's also extremely affordable and a casual setting. Will definitely be coming back here often for their food.
