My last experience with them…read moreleft me with an extremely bad taste in my mouth, so much so that I swore I'd never go back to them. However, my big boy Chomper is 12+, and last January I noticed he was really struggling to do normal things. I changed his routine and started hand-making his food, and he instantly got better. But having had another dog who was the same mixed breed and who showed the same signs towards the end of life, I knew Chomper's time was limited. Then last week he had a bad morning, and seeing he was in pain, I relented and called Groveway hoping that they'd just prescribe him some medication for pain management. I was able to bring him in that same day, and of course the first thing he does is urinate all over their waiting room floor like he had never whizzed in his life (and I JUST let him relieve himself outside beforehand). I apologized and offered to clean it up, but the receiption staff and another staff member quickly began to clean it up without hesitation and reassured me that it was ok. We entered into the examination room, and from the very beginning vet tech Stella was kind, polite and asked poignant quesitons. Soon after Dr. Powell came in, and she was equally kind, polite and wanting to help my boy. Dr. Powell was wonderful - she was compassionate and at the same time willing to have the difficult conversations. We decided on bloodwork that would take about 30 mins or so. Needing a urine sample, Stella escorted us outside to the back area with room to roam and a bench to sit at. After getting the sample, Stella made every effort to make sure my boy was comfortable - she invited us to stay in the backyard to enjoy the fresh air and sun, she brought out a blanket for Chompet to lie on, and she brought both of us water as well. Needless to say, after my last experience with Groveway, I was hesitant to contact them thinking that they might somehow try to hustle me again. I am so glad that I called them. The staff there were nothing but professional and courteous. Stella was accommodating and loved on my boy like he was her own dog. And Dr. Powell's compassion and willingness to help was nothing short of amazing. We didn't get the results we wanted, and that's just part of a dog getting old. But we have another checkup scheduled in a month, and I'm looking forward to the staff at Groveway spoling my Chomper again.

Dr Powell is an amazing, compassionate, kind, and incredibly well rounded veterinarian. She has great bedside manner and is always friendly and personable. She is always honest and straightforward with me, which I genuinely appreciate. Whenever she explains something to me, she does so in a way that is easy to understand. She is always patient with me and my questions, which I truly do appreciate. The technicians and rest of the staff are amazing as well. They are incredibly skilled and always go above and beyond with my pets care. Whenever I've had to drop off my cats for a procedure, they always assure me that they will do their best to provide great care. And during pick ups, they always share that they gave lots of pets and cuddles to my cats. The staff here genuinely do go above and beyond all the time. They do their best to provide great care, great customer service, and have all around great energy. Groveway is the vet hospital that I trust completely with my pets. Not only do I trust them with my own pets (Levi & Papi), I've brought in a couple of community/stray cats (Cottonball & Charlie) to them. Dr Powell and her team gave them excellent care as well and were so kind. Anytime Dr Powell and her team recommend something, I always tell them to please do what they recommend. I trust them 100% with my pets care. If you're looking for a pet hospital that gives amazing care, great customer service, and has great energy - I highly recommend Groveway. My travel happened a lot of times at the last minute, and overall I feel like they did a great job accommodating me and handling the situations which were sometimes chaotic. My dogs are both super high energy, and they always seem to return relaxed from their stays. I like that there are certain activities they do with the dogs and that they video / photograph it daily. I do feel like a live camera would be nice but I understand that can bring more complications. Lastly, their actual place has gotten WAY nicer since I first went there. It looks very clean and organized.

I originally started coming here for training with Ria when I brought home a new puppy and my other two dogs were not getting along with him. Through her training, all of my dogs have developed the skills they needed. The training is ongoing and I've been able to go at a pace that works for my schedule and budget. I now feel much more in control of my dogs' behavior. All three of my dogs are reactive in different ways and the training has made a huge difference. Ria is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things in a way that actually helps me understand what I'm doing and why. She's also very consistent, which I really appreciate. I've worked with other trainers before, but it never felt like an ongoing relationship where I could ask questions or continue learning like I can with Ria. We've done both individual sessions and group reactivity classes and I love that my dogs get to practice being around other dogs in a structured, non-judgmental environment. I've seen real progress in each of them. One has improved with aggressive and overprotective behavior, another has built confidence, and my third has gained obedience skills and improved socialization. I also use their daycare for my youngest dog and he absolutely loves it. He's been going for about six months now. He comes home happy and tired from physical activity and mental enrichment. The facility is great, the staff are caring, and I love getting photo updates. It's also a big plus that they have grooming services on-site. It gives me extra peace of mind that the facilities are all indoors and they work closely with the vet next door in case of an emergency. I'm really grateful to have found a place that supports both my dogs and me!

The front desk team is always welcoming and fun to interact with, though they are often extremely busy and seem to need extra assistance. Additionally, the nurses are wonderful and very knowledgeable, but they often appear to be in a hurry. It seems that the current staff is working very hard, as I notice the same team members present at all hours. I wanted to kindly suggest that management consider increasing staffing levels and becoming more directly involved to help support the team during these busy times. I should have wrote this a while ago, but I am still incredibly upset with two incidents at his…read morevet. First, I took a very sick kitten to get treatment. The positive, I called on Christmas Eve and they were about to close and weren't opened on Christmas (obviously), but the receptionist was able to schedule us on the 26th. We get seen on the 26th, and get antibiotics to treat the kitten. All is good at this point, We come back a week later for a follow up and the vet sees the kitten is recovering well but still on antibiotics. But she insisted on giving her the first series of vaccinations. I hesitated thinking shouldn't we wait until she's completely recovered? But the vet insisted, so she gets them. I should have gone with my instinct. Later that night, around 1:30am, I wake up to find her head moving erratically and her eyes moving rapidly side to side. I immediately rush her to emergency where they gave her something to calm her and said to take her to her vet as soon as possible. So what happened, since the kitten was still recovering and her system was weak giving her the vaccinations caused a severe vestibular reaction, and permanently causing a head tilt in her. Whenever I take her to a vet that's the first thing they notice and I have to tell them the story of what happened at Arroyo. Second incident, I took another cat to check on an eye infection and they were still doing the "stay in your car, we'll get your pet to get checked or treated, etc". I asked is there any way I could be with my pet while they see her since she's very skittish with people other than my husband and I, I will wear my mask to be safe. They said "no" because of protocol. So I wait in the car. 10 - 15 minutes later the vet called to say my cat ran from them, and they kind of lost her in the office, but now she's in one of the exam rooms hiding and she won't let them near. What the heck?!! Wasn't the exam room closed? And when you did catch her how did you handle and treat her?! I ask, could I just come in and try to get her and the vet said okay and let me in. They take me to the room. I find her hiding scared to death behind the computer monitor. I immediately go to her and pick her up to calm her. A couple minutes later I go out to let them know I have her and the staff just gives me this look like "how did you get her so fast and hold her". This is why I will only go to a vet who lets you be with your pet through the whole exam. Who knows what they are doing and how they are handling your pet behind closed doors. Because of these incidents I will not be going back to Arroyo and have been trying to find another vet I can trust.

I've experienced it before this time and seen other people go through the same thing. I have been coming here for a few years now and every time it's a long wait sometimes almost a hour ,on top of the same lectures I get for my 9 year old dog. We all been through things in life but my situation is very touchy ... I've spent thousands of dollars on Ruger boy . I would do anything for him to keep him here with me , but what I do not appreciate is Dr bud not respecting my wishes and boundaries and completely embarrassing me at the front desk telling me she doesn't like that I don't put the brand of food I give my pet on the form . She began to go on telling me how I am basically neglecting Ruger for not getting a cyst removed and tested due to my own finical issues. This cyst has been there for years and most likely not cancerous. she then proceeding to go on about if I don't get the cyst removed and get his weight down telling me all the potential scares that could happened . She then stated "I want that removed " "I don't like not knowing" . I am very aware of what I need to do for my dog and unfortunately will have to be done over time if done at all . Respectfully it's none of her business and I'm paying for a service which in my opinion is way to over priced and they constantly trying to charge me more for things I didn't not come in for . Ruger is 9 years old with no actual health issues that are a concern right now , he is still thriving so her goal in the moment was to make me feel like a shit owner so I would pay money I actually don't have right now . I don't think that's very professional, and that is absolutely crossing a boundary her being my veterinarian I will not be coming back ever again and I left in tears which I think is completely inappropriate. NEVER HAVE EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE IT IN MY LIFE . Zero fucken stars.

Dr. Dimov is wonderful, thorough, and genuinely caring. Over the past few years, we've also noticed some really positive improvements. They've made things more convenient, like being able to request prescription refills through the app, and I remember when they transitioned from paper records to digital records. Everything runs very smoothly, and it's clear they continue to find ways to improve the experience for both pets and their owners. The front desk team is always kind, helpful, and professional, and we really appreciate that the clinic is fair, transparent, and focused on providing quality care without making us feel pressured. Most importantly, they treat each patient with so much care and compassion. We feel very comfortable trusting them with our elderly dog and his various ailments. We're grateful to have such a wonderful independent veterinary clinic in our community.

They quoted me an astronomical sum to have my cat's teeth cleaned. Like, I can get my own teeth cleaned and a crown put in and have money left. Then, they called to tell me that they can't give anesthesia without doing labwork first! I've never heard of such nonsense. So I call my old vet, it is nonsense, and they do it the exact same day before anesthesia.

Malki had the absolute best two weeks with Kristen and Jenna at SB Backyard Buddies! They took such…read morewonderful care of him, and we felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands while we were on vacation. Kristen and Jenna were incredibly communicative throughout his stay and clearly made Malki's happiness, health, and comfort a top priority. It was so reassuring to know he was being cared for by people who genuinely love and understand dogs. The space itself is clean, welcoming, and full of happy dogs. There's a huge outdoor area where the pups can soak up the sun (one of Malki's favorite activities!), along with lots of comfy, soft lounge spaces where they can relax and play. Most importantly, Malki was SO happy when we picked him up after two weeks. It was obvious how well cared for and loved he was. Kristen and Jenna are the best, and we wouldn't hesitate to have Malki stay with them again. Highly recommend SB Backyard Buddies!

If you're looking for a place that's organized, has reasonable prices, and can neuter/spay a pet…read morewithout breaking the bank, check out East Bay SPCA in Oakland. The process is relatively painless, though there are lots of rules you should be aware of to keep your pet safe and the neuter process manageable. You first need to book an appt on their website and pay a $120 deposit. Be aware; spots fill up very quickly and if you cancel without more than 24 hours notice you will forfeit your deposit. You will need to fill out an intake form before the appt to make sure your pet is old enough and weighs enough beforehand (if not, you should reschedule or risk losing your $120 deposit). Day of the appointment, there's a drive through line for you to check in your pet at the designated time, a process which moves quickly. Drop off and pickup were both very easy and the directions given were clear and detailed. You will also have the option to add other services in top of the neuter/spay surgery, including some vaccines, flea protection, etc. and pay when you arrive. So important to have services like this available to the community, and I highly recommend checking out East Bay SPCA for all your spay/neuter needs!
