Our cats just needed their vaccines, and this is a great alternative to a full blown vet visit. They have walk-up clinics in Fremont and Oakland, but the lines could be long from what I've read. At the San Leandro location, you can make an appointment and avoid the wait. Making an appointment was so easy. I texted their number and Jess replied in about 12 hours. I got an appointment about a week away. Once you arrive, you text them to let them know you're there, but you don't enter the premises. Monalisa comes out and we are seated at an outdoor table where she entered my info on an iPad. Then she takes my cats (still in their carrier) into the clinic while I wait outside. About 10 minutes later, 2 guys bring my cats back out (in their carrier) and help me load them back into my car. I sit down with Monalisa again while she emails me my receipt and the rabies certificate. Overall, the entire process took 20-30 minutes. So easy and efficient, and everyone was very pleasant. The location is on a tree-lined residential street -- not sketch at all. Will use this service again. read more

I come out to find another customer had taken that spot with no complaints from the staff. They have no right to control those spots or force me to move, but they do not care about rights or legality, only some imagined neighborhood complaints. Cheap Shots is amazing!! I began fostering kittens who were born in my yard and through some research, I found Cheap Shots online. There is not much support for those of us who foster without being affiliated with a rescue organization. Vet services and medication add up quickly when you have 7 kittens who need care. I arrived an hour early to their outside clinic in Fremont since it's first come, first serve. They opened on time, greeted us with a wonderful proverb of the day and efficiently took care of our pets while we listened to fun music. Staff was friendly, helpful, informative, patient and professional. The kittens also received a nail trim and flea treatment "on the house" which helped me prepare them for adoption. When one of the kittens wasn't feeling well a couple days later, Jess quickly scheduled an appointment for her at their clinic in San Leandro. Dusty Kitten was seen by Robert and I left there with a diagnosis, special food and medicine for her and her siblings, and most importantly, I had a lighter heart because I was very worried about her. I was relieved to find out that it was a common parasite and treatable. Their prices are AMAZING! They really want to help without charging exorbitant fees. Dusty is so much better. I thought I'd already reviewed this company last year.. So these folks are sooo amazing!! Very flexible and top quality of service by far!! I've been a dog owner for 17 years and I'm sold on them. I take Louie, the old man wire hair chi-terrier to get his nails trimmed and anal glands expressed. Noodle the GSP to have his nails trimmed.. he is not a fan and always tries to kill them, but he's been getting better as they have a ton of patience and know a lot of calming techniques. Then we have 10 month year old nugget who is a chi- terrier- doxy mix who also gets his nails cut here. We also receive all vaccinations and advice from them too... A+++ across the board! read more

I recommend this place forsure though because of the hospitality and effort of these staffs that works here that helped me and my dog Bruno. Jess helped me out with a lot of questions about my dog having minor issues and she responded to me quick and gave me good information that I didn't even know. My puppy at the time needed his shots as well as a check up. They were able to examine him and take his samples. After their results (which came back 2 days later) they were able to provide me antibiotics for my pet. They did the first dose and showed me how to give him the rest of his medication. Robert and Jessica treat us like family. We have been with them for twelve years. They are the only ones that do nail trims on my big boy. I appreciate and trust them to keep his nails short. They not only clip but will also grind your dogs nails as this is the safest way to get around the quick. I always expect a minimum of two people to work on my dog at anytime and that's what you'll find here. As a young pup he needed three sets of hands on deck and they have always had enough staff to help if necessary. He's about 60lbs but he's a fighter. I used to go to their clinics both in Fremont (by the shelter) and Hayward but the wait can be long which I personally did not mind. I always showed up early and knew what to expect. This was out of convenience because I didn't have to schedule an appointment and I could show up on a week that worked for me. However, over the years Jessica suggested I just schedule an appointment and go to their San Leandro location so that there's no wait. This has worked well for me the past few years because I conveniently make trips to San Leandro for dog training as well and they are flexible if I end up arriving earlier. If they're not busy then they can accommodate me so I don't have to wait until my exact appointment time. I have always scheduled my appointments via text message. There isn't a scheduling system or customer facing interface but I believe you can also call. I like being able to communicate at my convenience because I can text in the evening if I forget to during the day. I try to book for every 5-6 weeks but the frequency will depend on your pet. Their clinic is also great if it's difficult scheduling an appointment with your vet for vaccinations or preventatives. We've received basic vaccinations including the Lyme vaccine and purchased Heartgard among other products. They also have veterinary diets available through their online pharmacy Covetrus which will have occasional promotions that are totally worth it. I've also used them for a full bath including nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning. My dog is short haired so I can't comment on hair cuts. If you need anything you can call Robert and they'll try to help you out. This is a family run business so you know they're putting everything on the line to make sure their customers are satisfied. Jessica and Robert will always greet you with a smile and a hug. They are truly animal lovers and basically have a sanctuary but you wouldn't know it! Give them a try! read more

Once again Cheap Shots came through for my pet family and alerted me to a critical medical situation with my dog Mitzy. Mitzy went in for some grooming and a teeth cleaning-just a general appt. Upon pickup, Robert alerted me to some lumps he felt on Mitzy's stomach during her grooming. Robert stressed that these should be looked at by her vet, and HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Do to his urging I got Mitzy in to see her vet and the lumps were unfortunately cancerous! Mitzy underwent surgery and is currently receiving palliative care. Technically this yelp description is not accurate because they aren't open 24hr, but you can text Jess anytime to make an appointment...which is best because their times of availability are a bit random since they spread their time between 2 locations. She's pretty good with answering your inquiries and setting a time. Jess is always very pleasant in person and friendly with my dog. All of the staff are. They take the time to verify what shots you need, what's best to do first, together (or if it's better on the pupper to split up the shots) and send you reminders too. They're pretty fast too with preparing the shots and everything after you've checked in with what you're getting. The entire process is pretty quick. I'm going to try hard to keep it professional and not really explain what I really feel about the people that are in charge of replying back when you text w questions about an order you've already paid for. I almost feel like they get bothered when you don't pay for a service that you can't afford at that moment so they ignore you or are rude. they make you wait for a response or sometimes don't respond at all. It's not until Rob. Steps in and tries to defuse the problem. Not sure if it's still Jessica with the 415 number that we are texting To or another woman. But the lack of their customer service is terrible very unprofessional for the most part. Again, I placed an order early July 4 and I have yet to receive it. I called the pharmacy and they told me that the clinic has not responded back as of yet when in the past they have. This is an ongoing medication for ongoing allergies until my fur baby drops dead so it's not a new medication that requires a check up or looking into or anything. I'm not sure what the holdup is. It's already been paid for. Can someone please look into this for me? I've already I realize I'm not the only one so I will wait until the end of the day to hear something back or if you can just approve so the clinic can send my medication for my fur baby. The response believe from Rob must be from another post maybe? Def not today's so I'm waiting for a reply like I said I've paid and the order hasn't been approved yet since the 4th! I had made an appointment for my daughter's dog to have an ear cleaning via text message. I thought the appointment was for 11:50 but was actually for 10:50 so I was going to re-schedule but was told just text them. By the time I got home they charged me a $25.00 cancellation fee and texted me that I should take the dog elsewhere. I really don't like this texting back and forth to describe what you need to make an appointment. I'm not sure who the lady was that greeted me was, but she was rude. The service started out great, but has slowly started to deteriorate--extremely long wait time, ever increasing prices, and the attitude I get from Mona is challenging.
