This place is a first come first served establishment. I pulled up about 1 PM on Friday and there was one car in the bay and one car waiting. I filled out the paperwork and had a seat, they finished the first car. The second car was started and I was busy on my phone getting a few things done. Before I knew it I looked up in my car was out of the bay and they were finished. They were very quick efficient and professional. Very nice folks. The building is a funky old Quonset hut style but they had a restroom and a waiting area that we're fine. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone looking to smog their vehicle. read more

You're tempted because Groupon is offering you a dirt-cheap deal to smog your car here, right? Wait! Don't do it!! This place is never open when it's supposed to be (as attested by other reviewers here like Kayla M, Chelsea S, and Rochelle F). I tried to redeem my Groupon 3 times with no success. They supposedly open at 8:00 a.m. so I arrived at 10:00 to find a note taped the door saying, "closed until tomorrow". I figured I'd just call ahead next time. Fat chance. I rang a bunch of times and never got an answer or a call back to my messages. I double-checked their hours and returned. Closed again. Grrr. A week and several unanswered calls later, I triple-checked their business hours and tried yet again at 11:30 a.m.. You guessed it - closed yet again! Every time I went, I saw other confused would-be customers arriving; they always looked confused and had to leave, exasperated. No discount is worth the cumulative time I wasted on this poorly run business (3 round trips of 20 minutes each way = 2 hours). I ended up going to Action Smog around the corner from them and got my vehicle smogged in 10 minutes. Good thing too - if I had waited another week, my smogging would've been late on account of these slackers. Adding insult to injury, GROUPON WILL NOT RETURN YOUR MONEY! I spent 20 minutes in an online chat with Groupon, which only wanted to give me "Groupon credit", not a refund. I requested an escalation, waited for follow-up e-mails, fought some more, exhaustively explained, and demanded a refund to no avail. They said I should "keep trying" (oh, should I keep guessing and return 8 times just in case I get lucky and they're open just once? Uh-huh) because they were "not authorized" to refund me. This is the real issue - that you're locked in and at the mercy of the Cheap Smog test people jerking you around because you already spent the money. To conclude, I know that the discount sounds sweet, but do yourself a favor and resist the temptation. Your time and aggravation are worth more than the ~$20 you're saving, which you will lose anyway when you're forced to get smogged elsewhere (along with the cost of the Groupon smogging; also, keep in mind the certificate fee is not included in the Groupon price). Don't be a chump like me - say no to the ring and run, hobbitses!! P.S. Those positive reviews on Groupon? Skewed as hell. Turns out, you can only leave a review after they send you an e-mail link which you'll never get if you were not able to successfully use the Groupon! So they didn't let me leave a review. That's how Groupon forestalls negative reviews from people who had trouble redeeming what they bought. Wow. read more

I was expecting to be waiting for a while... it was more like 10-12 minutes. The service was excellent, the sweet woman who runs the register and submits the certificate to the DMV was so nice and professional! The young man who actually did the test was very professional and quick! Overall I would give this company a 10! Oh, and the price was way cheaper than I thought it would be. It looks like it's a one man at a time operation. Pull up your car into the tunnel and they take you first come, first serve. It's very informal. The man who was working came up and was very speedy, very knowledgeable and efficient. There is a large waiting area with plenty of chairs, bathroom & a nice clock. It's pretty warm inside because it's a metal workshop. It's an industrial shop. Overall, good experience. There was a friend/girlfriend/wife a little ways behind the counter making social plans. It's a little confusing when they're behind a counter and don't acknowledge you but after a few minutes it was clear she was just hanging out and not working. read more

Been going here for years and it's always been very fast and easy. There are covid protocols in place EXCEPT for the staff. According to the lovely gentleman "I don't have to wear a mask and I didn't touch anything". If you have health issues and don't want unmasked people breathing in your car, find another place to go. BEWARE; of their "NO FREE RETESTS" policy. It took me by surprise. I keep my classic sport car battery disconnected during storage, but I reconnected it and drive the car enough (150 miles) before testing. Unfortunately this time 150 miles was not sufficient for the computer to reset before I went to have it smoged. The car passed smog, but because the computer had not reset completely, the smog test could not be completed, and I had to drive the car more before retesting. To my surprise, when I went back to retest, Cheap Smog charged me again ($44) for retesting. NO FREE RETESTS! I was very surprised because I never had to pay at any other place if the computer of the car was not ready and the car had to be retested. The staff at Cheap Smog never said anything about a charge for retesting, nor had any signage posted indicating "NO FREE RETESTS". That is a dirty under-handed business practice. If retesting isn't free, then it cannot be called "cheap smog", it's cheap customer service and cheap business practices. BUYER BEWARE! Go to a smog shop that offers free retests; almost every shop offers free retesting. This time I went to the wrong shop, don't make the mistake I made. read more

Worst experience ever. Lady was rude. I was told I needed smog renewal form from dmv to get smog test. This is not true. Only need registration. When I was paying I said I was paying with groupon and she replied "You should have said so." I said "I just did. If you needed to know sooner you should have asked. Drive in. Test. Drive out. (hopefully!) There ain't nothin' fancy 'bout this place but they're affordable and efficient. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and explained everything I need to know when it was my turn. A Groupon is what brought me here for the first time. I wasn't quite sure the process but I followed suit and pulled into the fairly long line. I wish it was a bit more clear that I was doing the right thing (getting in line) but I don't know how else the business could advertise that. Maybe a sign of sorts? On average, it seems 10-15 minutes per car so yes, there was a bit of a wait. You stay in your car until you're next in line and then you head to the counter for paperwork/payment. Car passed smog, DMV was notified, receipt given....and I was off. The line made it about an hour total but clearly that's just dependent upon time of day you go. read more

I went today for both my Dads and my SMOG tests for our renewals, and it was fast, (3-4 minutes tops), easy, and really awesome. Chad was a really nice guy and totally great in every way. I was given a $20 discount and only paid $40 for my STAR certification and my smog and my Dads was only $58. It was an over all great experience. I will be using them in the future. They appear to be extremely trustworthy, which is both rare and the most important thing to me. I highly suggest going there. I will go there for as long as I live in this area. It is extremely open and ventilated, which is why I believe the staff don't wear masks (but do enforce 6ft and have mask and glass barriers when there may be less than 6ft contact with signs saying as much). They don't go inside your car, so I'd just wear a mask if you don't feel like there is enough open air and space. read more

This place is the cheapest around with their coupon you print out off of their website. I've gone to this place with multiple vehicles and every time it's always been a pretty quick stop. Setup kind of like a drive-thru service, if there's other people first, you just sit in line in your car, it's usually a short wait if there is a line. Can't get much easier or painless read more

Get what you pay for... my vehicle passed with flying colors (above expected emissions) but at their discrepancy , they will call out what they "think" is wrong.. like a 2" hose that has minor ware n tear. Charged me, and said to come back.. No way. Pulling up it was obvious the people working there don't want to be there. Called ahead to ask what paperwork I needed and showed up with it. They had no other customers when I showed up. In less than 30 seconds the worker there is complaining at me, saying that I didn't follow the right steps and this was gonna be a hassle because of me. He literally did nothing but scan my VIN. When it didn't automatically pop up, he got an attitude with me. I politely said I'd rather go elsewhere and he raised his voice and made a rude gesture as I got back in my car. Bro, you're charging like $50 to run a 10 minute test and perform ZERO work or evaluations. Don't cop an attitude because it'll take an extra minute. Brought my car in on a weekday morning. There was no line, so service was fast. Went downhill from there... The tech, Chad Blocher, was one rude SOB. This place would not be good if your car has been lowered; the pavement is uneven and will scratch your bumper or lip spoiler. Price is NOT the lowest around and they charge you again if you need a re-test. I failed my first test because I had a recent check engine light and needed to do a full "drive cycle" before I should have done a smog test. I ended going to Hensley Auto which is nearby, a better value and has fast service. read more

Guy is a jerk. Went and inspected my van found a small crack on one of the hoses. Continued on with the smog test, my van easily passed the test, but he failed me because of the visual inspection. Common courtesy he could have told me before he tested it was going to fail, but he did not, just wanted to make a buck by having me pay for a retest. Very shady if you ask me! read more
