Eh, this place is hit or miss. They often have an attitude as if you are bothering them. The new store is starting to look worn down and unkempt. They have also messed up our order which lead to us waiting an extra 2 weeks. Selection of frames is so so. One positive is that the doctor did work with my teen to teach her to use contacts. I would give this place minus 100 stars. Ordered two pairs of glasses for my mom. Took them weeks to get it approved from the insurance company, close to 5 weeks - i unfortunately didn't have the time to constantly follow up with the insurance company. It normally takes a couple of days for any business to follow up, IF you do your job. This was just for one pair for the advertised "buy one get one free" glasses that cost me $280 for the second pair. They finally called and said they're ready. Guess what, they weren't. One pair was just being "put together" and the other will be put together tomorrow. I've worn glasses since I was in first grade, 40+ years. I can breakdown and put together my glasses in 5 minutes. Came here to switch my lens' out around 1:30pm on a Saturday. I was helped right away. I had asked for them to switch my lens' out of my old frames into new ones, they did it no charge within 2-3 mins. (I'm not a customer). My sister in law inquired about appts for eye exams and they told her they had on available in about 20 mins. (We didn't wait) but the add on option was nice. Looking around they had a decent range of frame styles but not much of a higher end brand selection. Considering they're "cheaper peepers", this makes sense. I'm happy with my current ophthalmology office so I don't plan on coming here for additional service. But it was cool getting helped while in the area. read more

They even worked their hardest to get my glasses to me as soon as possible which they did and I really appreciate that! i had never been into a cheaper peepers before and I was lokoing for high end glasses after I lost my last pair. This place was great compared to any other place I've been too for my glasses (which I have been wearing since I was little) I received my glasses very quickly which I was very happy about it only took two days and everyone who worked there was extremely helpful and also gave me their honest opinions when it came to choosing a pair of frames. My son and I have been going to this location for years. Besides being a tad bit disorganized, they have been polite and honest. Today I took my 12 year old son for his annual appointment. The optician was rude, impatient and clearly not fit to deal with a 12 Year Old who didn't place his head in the right place in the eye pressure testing machine. She didn't even ask him to reposition and just blew the "air" into his face then started frantically say "He won't do the test, he won't do the test". I reminded my son he had to place his head all the way against the machine. He did, but moved it back when he said he couldn't see the green light. Once again she got frantic. Very unprofessional. I have to be completely honest.. the customer service here is HORRIBLE. I came here because I got new health insurance and my other doctor didn't accept it. The doctor was completely cold and unwelcoming to me. When my exam was finished we walked out of the exam room and she was having a full conversation with one of the staff while I was standing there waiting. She is extremely unprofessional. My wife had an eye exam in august. She needed the doctors license number to renew her NY Drivers license online. I called the East Meadow office and asked for it. Besides being put on hold many times I was told that I have to come in and have a form filled out. I said it was an online renewal and a form is not required since COVID-19 has changed the rules. She said my manager said I'm wrong. Which pissed me off... I eventually googled the license number (which I should have done in the first place) and successfully finished the online application. I received excellent service from the manager and staff at Cheaper Peeper's. They have great customer service and tended to my needs as far the stylish classes that I purchased! I received a call when my glasses were ready to pick up and there was no problem when I went to pick them up. I went to this establishment too look around as I was going to get new glasses. They were very helpful and I chose to purchase 2 pairs, 1 eye and one sun. My new script was for Progressives and my sun glasses were great, but the eye glasses gave me such headaches! Not fun... I went back and explained the situation...the Manager (sorry I forgot your name) was very helpful. My lenses were replaced with a better quality lens since they did not want me to lose any of the value that I had spent. Helpful, friendly and professional is how I left thinking of everyone there. I brought in a pair of Oakleys that I need prescription lenses for when I originally went in with my sister a nice young lady helped me she told me and my sister that it would be $50 and I had her write it in a book so when I came back with the glasses a guy who was working their said it was $220 I then told him the nice lady told me $50 he told me that was for regular glasses and that was the best deal around town for my sunglasses the lady then said it was 50 for regular glasses so I went to wise eyes a few stors down and for 170 I got lenses I will probably never go back cause I hate lies read more

Excellent service and great staff. Buy one get one free is a great deal too. Optician Kenny called me a week after I ordered my glasses to sadly inform me that the frame that I wanted was discontinued and is no longer a available from his supplier. Kenny knew that I really wanted these glasses, and within 24hrs, he was able to track down a pair from another supplier. He even drove out east just to pick them up for me!!! Pleasant friendly staff, have been buying my sons and my glasses there for many years since they opened in East Meadow.

This was the biggest waste of my time. I had read about it on Facebook and decided to give it a try. I only buy designer frames. I didn't see very many. The had a lot of junk on the walls. So after looking around for a long time and no one approaching me, I decided to ask someone for help. The store was empty with a bunch of employees. Then I asked Kenny to assist me. I told him that I was looking for designer frames, Tom Ford, Prada, Givency or Gucci like I was wearing. I pointed to a few in the counter and he took them out. I started trying them on and he was barely paying attention. I asked him if certain ones came in lighter colors. He didn't respond. I then looked at him and said what size are these? Didn't answer so I mumbled under my breath, if you can't tell me the size I'll find out. So I attempted sliding the sticker down on one of the arms and he grabbed them out of my hand aggressively and started yelling at me saying you can't just come in here and take off my stickers!!! I said I asked you what size they were and you ignored me so I'm looking myself. He said what color do you want, I said light like I said before, grey, light grey. So he handed me a pair that was jet black and said like this? So I said no that's black. I gave him the 2 pairs I had looked at and asked him his name. He kinda whispered and he said Kenny. He passed me a business card that had the drs name on it...not his! I darted to the exit and yelled out oh no, this place is shady and left. I would NEVER return and would NEVER tell anyone to go there. He was rude, unprofessional and obnoxious! Not the one on display since it had scuffs and scratches. He says it will take 1-1/2 weeks. No problem. I'll wait. 2 weeks later, no call so I check up. They never ordered but told me to come in and take the display model temporarily which I agree to, reluctantly. 4 days later they say the glasses are in. I go there to find out they ordered me only the temple replacement which was originally scuffed. Not a new pair and claim it's not available. That's not what we agreed on. Not for $578.00. They can not get my prescription right...I am wearing glasses now with the same prescription yet they made the glasses 2 times and still they are wrong. The manager in Baldwin said she can fix it, but how can i trust this.? Like I said I have 3 pair of glasses here made by another company and I see fine. I reviewed this place years ago and wanted to review again. I was shocked to see the bad reviews. I guess it's true, you cannot make everyone happy. It is always a fun experience when I get my contacts and glasses. Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. They always make me laugh when I'm there. Their prices are definitely less expensive than other big name stores. They even have all of their frames marked with the price so there is no changing the price. Sometimes my order may come a day or two later than expected but with a store that busy, I'm okay with that. I don't wait until last minute so I won't be stuck. They must be doing something right if they are always packed with customers! I have sent so many friends and coworkers here and they loved it as much as I did. read more
