Stay Away, Stay Away, Stay Away, Stay Away. I walked onto their lot in February. I noticed what appeared to be a nice looking Rav4. On the windshield of that vehicle was a brand new inspection sticker. That sticker was seen by me as a Checkered Flag guarantee of the quality of the vehicle and helped induce me to eventually buy the car. I thought I could trust that inspection. Now they do offer a three day trial in which they claim you can return the car. The car I bought needed some touch-up work which they agreed to do. The car was with them for almost two of those three trial days.  The day I did have the car and was driving in a quieter area with the radio off I noticed a grinding noise when the brakes were applied while coming to a stop. It was a repetitive, persistent and irritating noise. You wouldn't realize how many times you use your brakes until you have an issue like this. I contacted the salesman immediately and mentioned this grinding noise. As things were already scheduled for the touch-up work he said we could get the car in on the following Tuesday at the Toyota Checkered Flag Service Center. I didn't think it would be any kind of a major issue so I agreed. I went to the service center as scheduled. Explained the noise issue and proceeded to sit in the appropriately named "waiting room." After two and a half hours the service advisor comes out with a dour look on his face. He ushers me into his office and hesitantly tells me in a roundabout way that they took off the wheels and found that there were rings of rust that went around the front brake rotors. Even showed me pictures. The service advisor assured me that the brakes were still "legal" as the pad and rotor thicknesses were within tolerances. Legal is one thing, working properly without unnecessary noise is another. It's the latter I expected after having spent so much money. We went back and forth on this point. He told me it was a minor issue and should resolve itself after driving for a while. He also told me his hands were tied as he showed me a repair estimate citing "customer satisfaction" for $703 dollars which was declined by the sales manager Lucas Giles at the Outlet. As mentioned, the car had a new sticker on it. So what happened? Why does a car with a brand new inspection sticker have brakes that grind every time the car rolls to a stop? During their pre-sale inspection they must've known the brake rotors were rusty. So they saw the rust, ignored it, and put a pass sticker on the car. If the rotors were not making any strange noises at the time I can understand why they might ignore the rust and try to "get away with it," but if the new buyer has a problem I believe it should be fixed as it was an already known issue to them. I shudder to think what else was conveniently ignored? It is now the beginning of June, over three months and 2000 miles later, the irritating, repetitive noise still persists. It did not go away as promised. I have noticed that there are a lot of "5 star" ratings for this place. I do admit they are polished. They know their jobs well. The salespeople have a professional demeanor. They smile at the  right times and say the right things. They are experts at moving cars off the lot. When everything goes right and you happen to get a vehicle with no apparent problems I have no doubt it feels like a great car buying experience. However, if you do have an issue with a vehicle they just sold you, you can expect a different experience. I thought to myself instead of using their "Where winners buy" motto it should be changed to "Checkered Flag, where the customer comes in second, so we treat you like number two." "Buyer Beware" has never been a more appropriate phrase than when used to describe the Checkered Flag Auto Outlet car buying experience I had. Do not underestimate their ability to ignore that thing called customer satisfaction.  No problems with a nickname for my  Checkered Flag auto. I named it "Rusty," so thanks for that Checkered Flag. Very leery now of service. Purchased 2013 GMC Terrain on 10/19/21, within two weeks had battery issue and had AAA do jump. Thought it may of been me leaving a light on. Within another two weeks dead again. Had battery tested and said was fine, but purchased and installed new battery just in case (cost $290). I use vehicle very little and when happened again mechanic said to start every couple of days and let it run. Battery drains within 3 days. After discussing with mechanic again, was advised known issue with vehicle but as long as I let run every couple of days should be okay. THERE IS NO WAY THIS VEHICLE SAT ON DEALERS LOT AND THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT PROBLEM. 1/20/22 Went one day without starting, and dead again. We bought a 2013 Honda CRV from this establishment, we noticed fog on the inside of the car a few month after purchase. With further inspection there was found to be water intrusion inside the car. We were given the run around about who was responsible. To find out that even with the warranty intact, the dealership, would not take ownership of selling us a defective car. So with a beaten heart. We are forced to fix the defective car sold to us. I have loved working with checkered flag in the past, with my wife and I purchasing a 2017 Tacoma. Another comment about Lucas.... Was looking at a 2014 Ford Focus on the lot. 80,000 miles. Lucas helped us out. And like many have said before... started off nice and helpful, then turned in to a completely different person when I started asking questions... we took it for a test drive and notice that there was massive vibrations coming from the steering wheel. Almost not safe to drive. We got back and told him about the issues, outright said it was because of the speakers in the trunk, and "with that quality of speaker, your wheel is going to vibrate" only thing is... we had the sound off because my mother does not like obnoxiously loud noises. So it was all from the engine and bearings itself. Before the test drive I had gotten my wallet so they can make a copy of my id. Lucas comes out and says "oh you need your mommy to carry your wallet for you? Sorry sorry I had to say it" I had no pockets on my shorts, so anything of value was going in her purse. The lying, the disrespect, the overall demeanor prevented a sale from even happening, we were looking at a Hyundai veloster as well. Really nice car but went around to look for more because we did not feel comfortable trying to make a deal with someone as horrid as that. In the end we ended up going to morales motors and got a great car at a great deal! Would absolutely recommend checkered, but if you have Lucas, be prepared to be lied to, offended, and disrespected. read more

Was looking for a car today and we were taken over from checkered flag Toyota to checkered flag auto outlet to look at more options. Lucas Giles showed us some decent options and was quite helpful at first. But, he started to get quite rude and started to rush us, (That's what dealers do, anyways), into buying a car when I was indecisive. There was a car that I was interested in but there was a check engine light, tire pressure light, and I believe an airbag light too if I'm not mistaken. My father was a mechanic so I had spoken to him on the phone to hear his input. Anyways, I got off the phone and Lucas asked if we made a decision and said "did your daddy say you can't get it?"... As a grown woman I found that quite disrespectful... And I went and told him that if they find out what's wrong with it and if they'll for sure fix it, I would be happy to purchase the car another day. He then replied with a sarcastic comment, "well, I mean it's a Toyota dealership, they obviously would be able to fix it but whatever". He handed us his card and we left. Not to mention when we first got to checkered flag Toyota we were treated as if we had no knowledge whatsoever. Will not be returning. Be prepared to be lied to, treated like you're dumb and with LOTS of attitude. My girlfriend bought a 2005 Grand Cherokee from Checkered Flag Auto Outlet on November 1, 2017. Week after driving it, she had a problem with the battery. They fixed it and said it was a minor problem. About 1.5 weeks after, the car came up with a "service electric break system" problem, next day/today November 21, 2017, the car stopped working, it cranks, but the car won't start, she has only driven it for 721miles since bought. They reset warning lights and lie about the mechanical condition of the vehicles. VERY dishonest dealership!

Purchased a vehicle and within two days the check engine light was on bright as day. The experience of getting the car itself was efficient and fast, Lucas helped out a lot and was patient. However if my vehicle is an indication of the quality of maintenance being performed then it may be an iffy spot. Used vehicles are always a gamble but straight from the dealer having a fault that could possibly permanently render the car un-drivable is a weight that a dealer shouldn't allow on the customer. Clearly the vehicle hadn't been test driven thoroughly or I wouldn't have encountered it. The only thing saving them in my eyes was the warranty, I was able to talk to Checkered flag and get it repaired at no expense to my wallet and at little expense to my convenience as lyfts were provided to and from my home again free of charge. All In all with better attention paid to the vehicles to ensure they are READY to drive. They can easily secure a better opinion from me, as of now though i can only say Im disappointed that they didn't prevent this issue from occurring in the first place. read more
