Finally, A Bank That Cares About their customers future!…read more My experience with Banker Yasing Reyes at School First was a breath of fresh air. For the first time, a banker truly listened. She heard me out with genuine empathy, understanding my past financial struggles and offering condolences for my family loss. She didn't just listen; she took action. While mentioning guidelines, she pulled up information directly from the credit bureau's website to show me concrete steps to improve my score. She distilled hope and positivity into our conversation, focusing on my future goals like getting a mortgage. We went over best banking practices and all the online features. She was incredibly knowledgeable about what I could qualify for and enlightened me on best practices for future loans. I left feeling empowered and hopeful about my financial future for the first time. Highly recommend!

I've been a member of SchoolsFirst for about 6 years now and I can honestly say I've never been happier with a financial institution. Banks are for-profit. Credit unions are built different. They are member-owned financial cooperatives, aligned with the philosophy of "people helping people." Here, you're not just another number or customer. You're a member, and most importantly, a member-owner. At a credit union, excess earnings are returned to the members via lower loan rates, higher savings rates, low/no fees, and an array of complimentary services. SchoolsFirst is currently the largest credit union in California--in both membership and assets. But that hasn't caused them to waiver on making members feel valued. Their online banking and mobile banking app are superb, they continue to add branches locally and their affiliation with the CO-OP ATM Network offers surcharge-free access to over 30,000 ATMs spanning 50 states and 10 countries. They celebrate a Member Appreciation Day annually and offer a gift to members, which is usually very nice, and some of the best cookies I've ever had! I've also used their coin machine on several occasions! Recently, I needed to have some documents notarized. I remembered that's one of the many services offered at their branch. I was able to make an appointment easily via their website and received text and email notifications and reminders leading up to my appointment. Trent was amazing. He'd handled similar documents recently and had everything squared away quickly and efficiently. All for a very minimal fee. It was a pleasure working with him and the credit union. I look forward to many more years of membership. Thank you, SchoolsFirst!

One on several occasions. One of the three family member has only use their debit card at the branch ATM ONCE or TWICE! NEVER anywhere else and still money was stolen! Not only that, I've literally been in line and have heard a customer walk in and complain about money missing from his account. I didn't get a debit card because of my family's issues but ended up getting their Visa credit card. You have to keep track of your available credit VERY CLOSELY. I screenshot my balance after every transaction and the math adds up every time. Recently I was overcharged interest by a few bucks and went thru my whole account, talked to rep over phone, manager at branch and they try to make you think you're crazy even though you tell them you keep track of everything. The bank manager tells me this card is calculated differently then my other credit cards but he's full of crap because I wait till each transaction is clear and take screenshots. Their banking app will update your availabil credit within minutes after every transaction but your balance owed updates later. When interest is subtracted from your balance the app doesn't even list it as a transaction you have to wait for your statement to see the amount paid in interest. My available credit balance has even "magically" decreased out of nowhere as if double charged for items then hours later, after searching thru my account transactions, the missing money just appears back to my availabil credit balance. Also, my mom ( one of the ones with the stolen money from debit card ) payed a bill by check and noticed money missing from her account after the check cleared. She called the recipient of the check and they verified they received the proper amount after depositing the check BUT somehow the BANK withdrew more money than the check was written for even though the check recipient received the proper amount. My mom had to call and bring it to the bank's attention and they couldn't figure out who or how they processed the check for more money even though the correct amount was received. UPDATE! My credit card issue was solved on my own and I'm surprised neither the phone conversation or two people I talked to in the branch were able to see the simple issue. Just be vigilant with all your accounts as the issues I've stated above still stand and are sketchy.
