Went to this establishment today for lunch 10/17/18 At the end of my meal I noticed something crawling across the table.... it crawled near my plate at first I thought I was just seeing stuff so I lifted up my plate and it was a freaking baby roach. I am absolutely disgusted with the unprofessionalism and service at Cheddar's. For one, I called to order my food to go. In the midst of telling the woman on the phone my order she screams in my ear, "I can't stand you!". I reacted saying, what? And she explains she wasn't talking to me. Against my better judgment, I continued to order my food. When I arrived to pick up my order, I had to wait an additional 25-30 minutes for my food. When the waitress brought my food out, the food arrived in plastic to go containers without lids. Instead of plastic lids, the food was covered with cheap aluminum foil. Cheddar's in Brandywine takes advantage of the fact that they are the only Cheddar's in the area. Enjoyable :) I came here on a Saturday night with my boyfriend for drinks. SN: this place is always crowded, at the bar, outside anywhere you look you will see people waiting. Back to my review, I went to the bar area hoping to find two seats and unfortunately they weren't. My boyfriend put us down for two and the wait would be 30-45 minutes. Really?! that's crazy it was around 9:30-ish the place closes at 12! I continued to scout for seats at the bar while waiting for a table that won't be ready until a hour later and luckily two women left the bar. I was thinking (SCORE) I signaled my boyfriend to come over. Ok now, for the service--we was at the bar for 5 minutes until the bartender actually wipes down the counter. SN:I hate sticky tables -_-. Our bartender was amazing he was very nice and professional. I ordered two pain killers (limit 2 per person) and he ordered two beers and a chicken platter. I recommended the chicken platter for him. Cheddar's have strong drinks, and I must say they never disappoints! I hate paying for overpriced drinks with no alcohol whatsoever. The prices for entrees are amazing. Cheddars is a new Southern inspired restaurant in Brandywine, MD. It's on Crain Highway and is across the parking lot from a large and brightly lit movie theater. The restaurant has a private lot, which has ample space. Given that the restaurant just opened in the past year or so, Cheddars seems to always be packed with a long wait. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations. The service overall is poor. The folks at the host stand don't exactly give off the "warm and fuzzy" vibe, let alone professionalism. Approaching them with a question? That means work and how ludicrous of an idea is it to expect people to perform the task that they're being paid to do! They'd much rather slouch over the host stand giving the impression that their constipation is so bad that they've been taking laxatives like tic tacs! Our waitress was ok. She was friendly enough but a little forgetful with stuff like silverware and water. My dining companion pointed out that the waitress made no attempt to acknowledge her and focused all of her attention towards me. While I'm flattered in hindsight (devious grin), that's probably not a good thing for servers to do when they're working for a tip. I wasn't in a particularly hungry mood nor did the menu seem all that appealing so I tried the spinach dip as well as the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding. The spinach dip is a pretty large appetizer....and that's all the positive I've got. It was really bland except for a little heat you get at the end of each bite. For something that is promoted as being blended with four cheeses and topped with mozzarella, there was really no cheesy flavor. The Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding features Cheddar's signature croissants blended with chocolate chips then baked until golden. It's topped with vanilla ice cream and served with chocolate chips, caramel sauce and almonds. It's a dish that's big enough to share but I don't think anyone is going to be fighting over the last bite. Lots of muddled flavors. The dish seemed confused about whether it was trying to be a savory or sweet dish. Instead, it was just a bad dish. One thing that's good about Cheddars is the pricing is pretty decent as there are very few dishes on the menu that cost more than $10. Cheddars may work for some folks but for me, it was a fail. I've been to Cheddars a few times... Pros - Good drinks, they'll have you feeling nice in no time, for a good price. The food I've had is good. Not great, but good, and exactly what I would expect for what I paid. Cons - Listen to the reviews people, horrible customer service. The servers seem lost and uninterested, very poorly trained, and serious lack of knowledge of the menu. Most of them are young, probably high school/college, they gathered in groups to laugh and hang out instead of serve tables. Also, usually a really long wait, which is surprising, 'cause the service sucks so bad. We basically had to send a smoke signal to our girl to get her to bring some water around. So, why have I been to Cheddars 3-4 times.... the drinks! Try the Texas Tea, for $5-$6 you can get quite a nice buzz. I've been back several times since my initial review and I'm deducting a mark because service is very, very spotty in the bar area. I refuse to wait in the ridonkulous line for a table when I can mosey my sweet behind to a bar seat and get the same food without the 2 hour wait or whatever BS it is. The past two times I've sat in the bar I've had to stand at the empty table for a good 5 - 10 minutes before someone comes and wipes it down, after being ignored by wait staff for that entire period. The other thing that is disconcerting about sitting on the bar stools is that you see all of the staff hanging out checking their phones instead of servicing the patrons. Meanwhile, empty glasses on my table mean less tip for them. So I went to cheddars the other day and the food was good but the service was the worst I've ever seen. If they could figure out a way to become more efficient then dining here would be a pleasant experience. The service kills it for me. We waited 40 minutes to me seated. We waited another 10 before anyone took our drink order. We ordered appetizers after 20 minutes and then asked for silverware. We finished our appetizers in 10 minutes without silverware then waited unknown amounts of time to order. Out food literally took at least 25 minutes to come out and when it came.... We STILL DIDN'T HAVE SILVERWARE. When we asked for an explanation she said, "You guys weren't even supposed to be my table." Poor excuse for terrible service. I know the place is new and all, but they have to do better than this! The wait wasn't long to be seated, only because it was 4pm and the waitress took our order quickly. I've been going to different Cheddar's locations for over 12 years. This once is standard in food and appearance. I wasn't let down by the taste/quality of food. However, the service was crap. Walking up to the doors, I had to make my way through 5 workers both getting off and going into work. All were very disgruntled with the inner operations of this Cheddar's and had no problem voicing those issues loudly for all customers to hear. (If my parent's didn't want to eat here for their anniversary, I'd have just left.) Then we get to our booth and what seemed like a whole plate of food was scattered all over one of the booth seats. Why wasn't this prepped better? So my stepmom points this out to the host and he had the audacity to ask, "Did you want something to wipe that with?" WOW!!!! I think this distain on my stepmom's face was all he needed to get someone to bring a wet cloth and wipe the seat. This place is always packed. We went on an early sunday morning and was promptly seated. They do not have call ahead or reservations, so if you are a large party, do not come during a peak hour. The prices are very reasonable for both food and alcohol which is why it is often busy, most especially during the happy hours and during the weekends. Service was great, but our person was only helping out on the day we went, as she is from a Cheddars location in Delaware - talk about dedicated employee! I am a frequent cheddar patron. The food is very consistent but my experience today was unacceptable. I placed a to-go order and when I arrived the sever stated that it was picked up already. I then was met with the general manager as he confirmed that the order was no longer in their possession. He offered the option to remake the food and I politely declined due to the additional time constraint. Upon cancelling my order my wife reiterated her craving for cheddars and begged for my return. I went back and re-ordered the food as I was met with attitude from management as if I gave my order away. Once my food was received I asked the manager if Cheddars would like to compensate me for their mistake and he said "if you never cancelled the order then I would have been glad to do so but since you did I can't". I was also informed that I would be charged again and my first charge would fall off in a couple of days so I would be out two payments until then. This is a great place for what it is, a chain restaurant with a wide food selection. The service at this venue is fairly fast, and the food quality is on par for the price. If you're looking for a quick place to have a decent meal with the family while on the go, this is your place. My wife had the potato soup and loved it. On the negative side, I watched a server whose braids were so long that as she turned around and twister her neck about three or four of the braids hit a customer's chest and shoulders while he was eating. The floor had all types of food on it under the table I didn't notice it until we had placed our orders. The ribs was cold and taste horrible I didn't even taste any barbecue sauce because the ribs was so greasy and cold. I recommend going to the McDonald's next door before you go to Cheddars.
