The only reason I am giving my favorite place to eat for anniversary and birthday is because of the service. It took 40 minutes to get our food the server Lauren was not attentive at all. This was not during a busy time and we observed her being very attentive to other tables. As we were leaving my husband and daughter mentioned how she did not even acknowledge or speak to them and when she brought the check she brought it to me not my husband. Now I don't want to jump to conclusions but seems to them and me she was judging based on appearance. Also I tried to call to complain to the manager who was far to busy to come to the phone so I sent an email. It is now one week since our visit and the email sent, no response. Went in today and was the only table in the restaurant that should of said something right there. We sat down and got service pretty fast I ordered Texas Cheese Fries and literally took forever the waitress comes by and says sorry they forgot to make them this usually means she forgot to put them in as I was a waiter before lol. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. Ordered the Monte Cristo it was barely warm and the fries were cold and it tasted odd. The chicken strips where cold and fries where cold.The alcoholic drinks where watered down.The croissants barely had any honey butter drizzled on them and it tasted like a oil based butter not real butter.The immature staff that greet you at the door make you sit there and wait 15 minutes for the server to serve beverages to the other two tables that he has before they will seat you. Our server Matt was not wearing a mask and we only saw one staff wearing one and Matt was very rude.After our meal Matt asked if he could have the tips that was sitting on the table?? Overall, the restaurant was good, but the food needs a little more work. Clean and friendly atmosphere. We were welcomed by a wonderful, young man host. Our server could have been seen a bit more, but she was very pleasant and knowledgeable on the menu and accommodating. However, the food was not prepared well. We ordered the ribs which were served pretty much cold or slightly warm. The same was for the baked potato. It probably stood too long in the window as the other food was prepared. My 2 daughters and I were evacuated from our home due to frozen pipes and our home was not safe. We're staying across the street and called to order to go. I spoke to Jessica who apparently was too busy to answer a question and told me to go to the website. I called back and a male picked up and I asked him how does the ordering to go work? What a wonderful restaurant. I especially enjoyed how we were sat ahead of everyone else because we could sit in the bar due to the face that we have made good choices in life by not having kids. The food was superb, We ordered a quesadilla for the appetizer, the portion was massive and delicious. I then got the Mango salsa tilapia. The fish was flaky and the portion size was generous. The flavors were amazing, best fish I have had in a restaurant. Sadly I got what I like to call a Kristen Stewart, an awkward, terrible, lip biting, gut wrenching feeling that ended up taking control of my body, ruining my after dinner movie, as I was in the bathroom for most of Django. read more

Decent food. If I could just go and get a nice sized bowl of the broccoli casserole, I'd be happy. The "Painkiller" cocktail is pretty darn good. I rarely drink (like three beers a year) and I didn't really "feel it" that much. So, I was surprised they limit how many you can order. Maybe they've had an issue? Ouch, a one star review from someone who was pissed when they showed up with 25 (probably closer to 30) people and had to wait a while? It was extremely busy when we went (everyone loves a new restaurant) and we had to wait about 30 minutes. With that many people I'm not surprised you didn't enjoy yourselves. Anyway, my wife liked cheddar's a lot. Imagine a Chili's that's a lot nicer, a little cheaper, with much better food and you've got a pretty good idea. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and my wife had a crispy chicken salad. Both were huge portion sizes and very tasty. We didn't have any drinks, but there were some interesting choices that were remarkably cheap. I like the limit two on a few of them. HA! Don't let JB scare you away, give this place a shot. This place completely took me by surprise. I knew it was popular due to the ever-present crowd spilling out the front door. But I've been to plenty of popular restaurants in the Springs that were really pretty poor. But this place blew me away. First of all, as mentioned by other reviewers, the prices here are simply phenomenal. I left wondering how they can do it. But perhaps most of the restaurants in the area are just badly over-priced (which I've often suspected). When the most expensive item on your menu is $14.99 (full rack of ribs or a 12oz. ribeye), you're getting some serious bang for your buck! Secondly, the food isn't just cheap ... it's very good. Sure, we're not talking haute cuisine here, but we're talking about very tasty and diverse American fare. The chicken tenders were crispy and tender and there was an obscene number of them. They have a wonderful collection of "sides" options (two sides came with my meal). The grilled chicken pecan salad was also quite unique and tasty (and you can request crispy chicken instead of grilled if you wish). Service was attentive and polite despite the place being absolutely jam packed. I never had an empty soda glass (my barometer of good service). Which brings me to the only complaint I have, and it's a fairly insignificant complaint for me. The place is so busy that it is also very loud. So loud that I found myself having to lean in to hear my friends. But honestly, this is not a huge deal for me. I know some may be annoyed by the noise level, but it simply isn't a deal breaker for me when everything else is so incredibly fantastic. Obviously, I recommend Cheddar's wholeheartedly! read more

Colorado Springs is mostly a dead town for foodies and as a New Yorker in exile I suffer greatly. Though Cheddar's is yet one more southern contribution to this franchised purgatory, my elderly parents who are visiting wanted to come here so against everything in me, we are here. Our server must have been absent when God passed out personalities and should probably work at a McDonalds drive-through as she clearly doesn't understand the difference between a server and an order taker. I digress. My wife ordered the jalapeño burger med-rare as any steak or burger should be cooked. Our server in an almost scolding teacher mode informed us it can only be prepared med-well or well. That's like telling someone I can either smash your toes with a hammer or pour gasoline down your throat and light your teeth on fire. Seriously. The answer is neither, no thanks! Any respectable restaurant or chef knows this is a crime against beef and every cow that has ever lived. It's med-rare, always. Seriously, give me a break. May as well put a boot on a plate and serve it. I ordered something predictably forgettable and will try and put it out of my mind. My parents were happy and that's what matters. I know what y'all are thinking, is Colleen J. really reviewing a chain restaurant??! You bet your sweet buns I am and I'll explain why. For those unfamiliar, Cheddar's has it all - burgers, pasta, salads, steaks, southern-comfort-stick-to-your-bones food, beer/wine/cocktails, and above all, they have a kick-ass patio with a fireplace, heaters, and beautiful view of the mountains. You would think we'd have maybe a few more patios in the Springs... but we don't, so in steps Cheddar's to fill the void and they've done a great job of it. The service is always quick and friendly and the food is good. If you're feeling froggy you can get something fatty and delicious (hello chicken strips you delicious little thangs), or if you're feeling lighter you can order a kale salad with chicken on the side. Yes they have the obligatory chicken fried chicken (save this for your death bed meal) but they have so much more. Anyways, that's my story with Cheddar's and I'm sticking to it. The food was great! Our waiter wasn't great at all. He took our drink orders and didn't bring them until 15 minutes later. We ordered appetizers and a table who was sat after us received their meals long before we received our appetizers. He was very attentive to the tables around us and did what he could to not come to our table . We ended up asking the very kind bus boys for help. Went here on a Friday night, and boy was this place packed! 45 min wait and not a lot of room to stand....unless it was warm and then outside I guess. No call ahead or reservations though, so make sure if you're seeing a movie you plan ahead. The food was pretty good, that Broc Casserole side was awesome! I probably could have just eaten that as a meal. My parents enjoyed their meal a lot. Also a big shout out to our waiter Phil K. who was clearly super busy and still made time for us and made sure we were taken care of. Gets busy on the weekends but getting a table for the family in a reasonable amount of time is usually never an issue. Prices from online menu are VERY DIFFERENT. Full rack o ribs...menu online 16.29....actual 18.99. The smokehouse burger online is 6.99 and on the actual menu it is 9.99. It's funny to me, that people are rating this place based on price. Yes, it's cheap, but the food here is standard franchise chain-fare. This place is crazy busy, and does well with it's northend clientele. I don't think this place would be nearly as popular if it was located Downtown or on the West End, where there are better individually owned and operated restaurants to choose from. Skip everything else as it's just boring American food, get the chicken tenders. They may be the best chicken tenders ever tasted. This location had some nice servers. They forgot a salad, but eventually brought it out with meal. Sweet tea is good. Ribs were pressure cooked or something weird, nothing resembling smoke in the flavor. Haven't been in here in a while. Came around the time they had just opened, but couldn't remember if I liked the place. Probably not a good sign. Regardless, I decided to try it them again. We ordered the Chicken Alfredo and New Orleans pasta. Neither of us really liked our dishes. They came out warm, and not hot, as if they were sitting under heat lamps for a while. So, the sauces were somewhat dried our when the food arrived. We had a few bites and we both though our dishes tasted like a frozen dinner. Not horrible, but something you'd get in the frozen food section. My wifes dish had vegetables in it and they tasted particularly unfresh/frozen. I returned mine and got a cheeseburger instead. It's was alright. The staff seemed pretty glum. The service wasn't particularly bad, just... indifferent? It was Super Bowl Sunday, so I'll have to give them a pass on that one. I have been a fan of Cheddar's since they opened. The atmosphere had me expecting much higher prices, so I was pleasantly surprised when I read the menu. The selection is good although I would like to see sweet potatoes added to the side order selections. I can afford to take the whole family and we all have our favorite selections. I actually consider Cheddar's a four star rating but in response to the low ratings I see here I felt they deserve a boost to their average. Cheddars could be grouped with Applebees or Chilli's as it is a franchise but personally I find the food quality, quantity, service and atmosphere to put them in a class above the other chains. It is a very popular, sit down restaurant located in front of a busy theater so be prepared to wait for a table and spend nearly an hour dinning. The service I have received has always been courteous and responsive but this is not a production line. If you don't have time to enjoy your meal, come back when you can . I have yet to try anything I was not pleased with. The fish is all well prepared and the cat fish is the cleanest tasting I have ever had(makes me wonder if it's truly catfish). I always include the baby carrots with any meal (even if I don't want to know how much butter and sugar they are made with.) The chicken pot pie is very good at less than 8 bucks. I often get the side salad just because it comes with a super light and flaky croissant topped with a bit of butter and honey that I can't resist. In all fairness, I know plenty of folks that consider Cheddar's just average but it suites me to a tee. read more

Good value: if you are staying at the nearby Great Wolf Lodge, you will find this to be a well-priced substitute for all of the restaurants there. Worth the two minute drive or short walk. We have to go here whenever my wife is craving their chicken tenders, which was tonight. We went for the spinach dip appetizer and everyone like that. It was topped with mozzarella cheese and had some pepper flakes so there was a little kick to it. Instead of going for a plate of massive calories, i tried the lemon pepper catfish from the lighter menu. That was a good choice. I didn't leave felling bloated from too much food. Never been to cheddars but while visiting colorado, we stumbled across this restaurant by our hotel. Being from jersey, I would consider this restaurant a sports bar and diner atmosphere of nothing but good vibes and a friendly, alert staff. My boyfriend got the fried catfish and said it was the best fried catfish he had in a while. It wasn't fishy or undercooked, only filled with a satisfying eat. I have ordered the Chrissy chicken salad (after contemplating every item on their menu very carefully) and couldn't help but to finish the whole thing. It was so delicious that I couldn't help but to out truck loads of fork fulls into my mouth and I am the biggest picky eater ever and am not the biggest fan of salads. If you're out in Colorado Springs, give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed ! read more

2/2014: I can't believe they got rid of my favorite meal, 'world class chicken sandwich' and there is nothing comparable on the menu. Had very average meal of chicken sandwich I could have gotten anywhere else, mom's plate looked terrible smothered in gravy, dad's steak was overcooked... So much for taking the 'rents out for a nice dinner. Used to be my favorite place in COS, but the menu change they undertook a few weeks ago is for the worse. (And I asked if they could make my sandwich even though it's not on the menu anymore. Answer: Nope.) 12/2015: I took my boyfriend to dinner on a Saturday night and I should have known better when there was zero wait time. I felt bad to have wasted time here, my Tuscan sandwich was so smothered in pesto it was inedible. My BF ordered ribs which were mostly gristle and chicken fingers with no flavor--just breading without seasoning. I mentioned above that I was paying... the waiter never caught on, not when the bill was on my side of the table or the fact it was clearly a woman's name on the credit card. My kids recently had a day off school, and this is where we went for lunch. They had a great time, and enjoyed their burger and chicken strips, but I was pretty disappointed with my lunch. I ordered the wedge salad and potato. I will give our waitress credit. She warned me the wedge wasn't a "traditional wedge", and I should have paid more attention to her reluctance. The "loaded baked potato" wasn't much loaded. A very little bit of cheese and some sour cream. I had to pay extra for the bacon bits. Even my kids made the comment that it was a little of a misnomer. I've tried the big Asian salad, chicken fried chicken, fish and chips, and the artichoke/spinach dip (appetizer). All the dishes were really delicious.
