I probably eat here once a week and I get a strange combination actually suggested by a server. I get the chicken Alfredo with the chicken tenders instead of the grilled chicken. Now the crazy part is you can get the fried chicken tossed in buffalo or BBQ. I get it in BBQ and I order it so much they know my voice on the phone. One thing I will say is this Cheddars is 100% better than the Beaumont one. If you live here or are visiting and are wondering which one to go to, come here because the Beaumont one always messes up my orders, and they are super rude. But to end on a positive note, I would highly recommend this Cheddars. read more

Came in today for a late lunch. Sat at the bar as I was alone. Took a bit for the male bartender to serve me a drink and a menu. Ordered the blackened catfish and a baked potato..the food was pretty good, but nothing stood out to me. The male bartender passed me by many times and never noticed I needed a refill. My daughter and I just went to eat there and while our service started out fine it quickly dwindled. Kassidi was our waitress and she seemed sweet but she's probably in the wrong career field. She forgot about our to go order and kept walking up to us as if she was waiting for us to leave. I then noticed the salad that I added to the order wasn't provided once I got home. I was charged for it though so, good job Kass. I definitely regret the generous tip I left her but that was done before she kept us waiting there for 45 minutes for the to go order. wow, I recently had the worst service I have ever received. I dined with three other people. Every order was wrong and we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food. Only to have some of it missing and cold. My husband after sending the cold food back waiting another 20 mins, only to have the manger tell us the kitchen staff was having problems. No wait on this beautiful afternoon in the bar seating. Greeted promptly by maybe one of the best waiters we have encountered in a minute. He was quite but extremely good. Bravo! Richard ordered his cheese fries as always...which were superb in his book. Myself, trying to view the beach in my swimsuit..ordered a side salad with my meal to afford grazing off his fries. Salad came with a fresh hot croissant BUT u have to ask for it r u miss out!! (Also inhaled by Richard which said was awesome). I ordered grilled salmon which was overcooked. I'm not surprised really..most places do that. Maybe a dill sauce would have helped choke it down but none came with it. Sides were steamed broccoli n had a weak moment n got Mac n cheese. Richard ordered steak and shrimp..sides of broccoli n cheese casserole and mashed potatoes with white sawmill gravy over top. He loved it. His steak was cooked perfectly. I'm giving cheddars five stars because its his favorite place to eat in the whole USA n he thinks its five star. The waiter helps to pull this rating off being that I'm not forgetting my salmon was way overcooked. May ask it be slightly undercooked next time n see where that gets me. Waited an hour for a table after being told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. We had to remind the hostess that we were there after waiting for an hour. Ordered a chicken fried steak and was served chicken fried chicken. It took 30 minutes to get the food and I'm not terribly picky so I ate it. Or tried to at least. The batter was very salty so I peeled it off, and the chicken was rubbery and bland. The wait staff asked if I wanted a box for it, but I told him it was terrible. Mac and cheese was cold. Broccoli rice casserole was just ok. He did offer something else in its place, but I declined. No further offer to resolve it. The sampler appetizer was good. For once we did not have to wait for a table. Seated quickly and then it all shifted quickly. The server was new as well as her trainer. But we muddled through, we knew the menu better than either of them. Food delivered in a timely manner and it was all good. I love cheddars it's one of my favorite restaurants but I never know if the day I go, that the food will either be fresh or hard. Sometimes when I order the chicken tenders they come out perfect and other times I can't even bite into it. Same with the spinach dip and broccoli cheese casserole. I'm not sure if they leave the food out or cook it too long but it is a hassle when they have to take my food back and the people I'm with already finish their food when mine is barely about to come out. And the wait time can be 40 min around dinner time so I usually go early. read more

Never had much success with service at Cheddar's but decided to give it another try for a family birthday dinner. We arrived Sunday at 6 pm with a party of 7 and it took 30+ mins to seat us when the restaurant was maybe 1/2 to 3/4 full. We ordered our food and proceeded to wait an hour for our food after seeing other guests receive theirs when they ordered after us. Once we finally get the food, most of it is cold and has been sitting out. They take it back and microwave it. Meal was comped but I'm not looking for free food, I want good service and good food that doesn't take forever only to arrive cold.. The waitress was nice and tried to be helpful but the kitchen really screwed everything up. She even told us the kitchen staff was singing and dancing in the kitchen instead of putting out orders on time. Another couple near us had undercooked chicken. I won't return and I don't suggest you do either.. oh yeah they also charge you extra for to go orders claiming they have to cover the cost of the to go containers... read more

We always go directly to the bar and eat there. Service is always great and our bartender always goes above and beyond. They recently changed their menu so my favorite burger changed yet the bartender knows I want it and will go hand make me the sauce that no longer comes on it. But he only works Mondays and Wednesdays..we tried the dining area a couple if times but always seemed to have an issue with the service. Either took way too long and were inattentive or messed up food or ticket. So now we just stick with the bar and our favorite bartender. read more

First time we ordered the Onion Rings as an appetizer and since they were taking so long to come out they took them off our check. I've only been to this location once during a slow period. I was disappointed greatly as I didn't even get to eat due to the fact that the wait staff was negligent and everything was very dirty. am currently in Neighbors ER because I have been up since 12:30 am with continuous vomiting and diarrhea along with fever and persistent cold sweats. Last night my family and I dined at your Port Arthur restaurant for my mother's 54th birthday proceeding dinner we asked our waitress to take our picture she said "nah, I'm not taking yalls picture" I asked her if there was an issue with our table she proceeded to get in my face call me "a white bitch" take her apron off and tell me she was going to "beat my ass in the parking lot" she must've walked in the wrong part of our conversation we were having about third world countries and America I am not sure but no matter the circumstances there is no reason to verbally assault a customer this being said I'm not sure if my food had been tampered with or maybe the glass of wine she served me therefore I am having a full blood panel along with urine analysis done. This is ridiculous and very unfortunate because there's great potential to have a fine establishment it's a shame the staff that is employed reflected so poorly on it. read more

Service is getting worse and worse. No silverware, no napkins on table. (Happens often). Asked waiter. He disappears so finally we steal the silverware and napkins from other tables. Salad comes drenched in dressing, although we asked for the dressing on the side. Appetizer arrives AT THE EXACT SAME TIME as the entrees. Cheddars is really bad about pacing meals. I like their appetizers but I usually don't order them because it's like adding a huge side item to your entrée, since they almost always rush your entrée to the table, sometimes before the appetizer even arrives. Their waiters seem to be less trained and more overworked than they used to be. Now it seems like they just herd you in and out as fast as possible, especially on weekends. It took us forever to get seated even though the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full. I've worked in the food industry and waited tables so I understand shift changes but we arrived at 6. Seated at 6:30. Appetizer came out at 7:20 and our food at 7:45. The manager ended up comping our meals but some people in the kitchen need to get fired. Our waitress was very apologetic but I understand it's not her fault. She even said that the kitchen staff was goofing off not getting food out quickly. The table next to us had raw chicken. Most of our food was cold. My fiend got shrimp pasta and they took it back, microwaved it and put it in a to go box. Don't waste your time here. I love cheddars but it's unfortunately gone downhill and they ate probably a $120 meal from our table last night. This place needs new management or it won't be open much longer. So I come to Cheddars maybe once a month and tonight was by far the worst service I have ever received. So when we walk in we were not greeted by ANYONE. The host just stared at us like we were a bother to them, so I stood there for about 5 minutes before she asked, "how many?" Just 2 please! We wait about 3 minutes before we were seated at a table, not bad. Boyfriend and I are talking about our day and what not. We started to discuss alcoholic beverages and then 10 minutes went by, and no one had greeted us. So we sat there and stared down a server who just got done tending to his tables. He asked if we had been waited on yet, then proceeded to take our drink order. By this time we were ready to order so we just tell him everything at once. He walks off to put our order in. About 5 minutes later our ORIGINAL server shows up, introduces herself, and tries to take our order. No ma'am, we've already been taken care of. So she rolls her eyes and walks off. RUDE! The guy comes back with our drinks, and he tells us that our appetizer should be right out. About 5 minutes after our appetizer comes out he comes back to tell us, "Your food is almost ready, it should be right out!" (8:25 PM) okay, cool! TWENTY FIVE MINUTES LATER, "Oh your ticket was 3rd in the window but it should be coming out right now." (8:50 PM) I got up to go find a manager, THERE WAS NOT ONE TO BE FOUND. I came back to the table and my boyfriend was very displeased with the COLD food we had been served. So I politely asked for a to go box and the check. (8:53 PM) My boyfriend gave him his card to pay and he returned with our check at 9:10 PM. Nevertheless, we went home and heated our food up. If that was going to be the case, we should have just ordered to go. I have worked as a server for years and I do work customer service, so I do believe in customer satisfaction. I make sure that my guest are well taken care of before they leave. I am absolutely appalled by the service I have received tonight. I did still leave a tip just because I know how it is to live a server life but there is no way in hell I will ever step foot in this establishment again. read more

After vowing never to return I was dragged kicking and screaming by my grandchildren back to this location. ( Grandkids can do that). My last visit over a year ago was horrid. Bad food, surly service. I am happy to report good things as of 8/17/2014. The food was good to very good and the service was way better than average. Omg this location has really gone down with management. I visited on October 4th after 5. The weekend crowd hadn't arrived yet so it wasn't that crowded. I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and a appetizer. There was a older couple there also that the waitress named Kalli, obviously knew because she was talking to them personally. She was only focused on them and them only. If I needed something I had to get her attention because she never checked on me. As I was paying my bill she said on the receipt we could use a code for their website to enter a sweepstakes. I didn't care I just wanted to give a survey on thr bad service. Which I did. A few days later the GM of Chedders named Omar contacted me and apologized for my experience and wanted to give a gift card to make it up to me. Omg the trouble I went through to get it was so stressful. I told him I don't get off until after 5 and would not come to the next evening which he said was fine. I came the exact day and time u said I would and Lucas, the other manager on staff knew nothing of the situation. I told him and he took my name and number. I left and contacted Omar. He said some b.s. that I said I would be there at 1:00 and pulling stuff out his but saying things I never said. I asked him to contact Lucas so I could get my gift card. Ordered spinach dip and chips....really, really good. Every entree at our table was excellent. Large portions....every element...enjoyable. Service was perfect. While visiting from out of town, we decided to visit this Cheddar's-- one of our favorite places to dine! We would have to say this location is average at best. We like going to Cheddar's because of the menu variety. , but we are of the opinion, this location really missed the mark. When we entered, very little crowd, very attentive wait staff...almost too much, By the time, we were ready to go, the dinner crowd had arrived, as well as a large party of birthday folks. We waited awhile for the final check, and to-go boxes. Not too sure why we took the leftovers home, but maybe they would be hotter than served, heated up at home. As we were leaving, the floor surface was more than slippery. Who would know... we almost got to wear someone else's supper on a tray. I got up and asked the lady that had been playing on the computer a booth away could she get us a server (since she obviously noticed we hadn't been served) and she acted surprised that nobody had been to our table. Two of the same servers walked by again before she got someone's attention, whom looked at us and then shook her head and walked away. They then (3 servers standing around) started discussing where was "James".. I even informed them that we had waited so long we already knew what we wanted to order if they could'nt find James to write down the order. They still wanted to locate James. Finally a guy that had passed us up a few times came and took our order after it was brought to his attention. We usually dine at the one in Beaumont and won't be visiting the location again. Even tried to order a drink at the bar while we waited and the bar tender told me "just tell your waitress" .. horrible customer service! read more

Called ahead to order three take out meals at 3:25 in the afternoon, not a peak dining time. Was told it would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes. I gave it 30. I was told to stand by the bar because the bartender handles take-out orders. After about 5 minutes of being ignored, a passing server asked if I'd been helped. I said I hadn't been helped and was picking up a take-out order. She went to check on it. I made the mistake of paying for my order before I got it. Once you've paid, you're almost invisible. After another 15 minutes, the bartender went to check on my order. She returned and said everything was ready and boxed except for the Monte Cristo sandwich, which would be ready in a few more minutes. After another 10 minutes, the manager came out and apologized, saying everything was ready except for the grilled chicken for the Caesar salad. Hmmm, sounds like nothing was ready when I came in. She offered a discount on my order, or for a future order. I didn't want to wait any longer than necessary while she voided my ticket and re-charged my card. I also do not plan to go back. Ever. I got my order and took it to the hotel to find that the Monte Cristo didn't have powdered sugar on it, one of the meals had french fries instead of broccoli cheese casserole, and there were no utensils. I have had repeated bad experiences here over the years, but I go back every couple of years, hoping for a good experience. Either someone's food wasn't ready at the same time as everyone else's when we've dined in, or I'd find added charges on my ticket for an appetizer or dessert we didn't order or receive. This was definitely the last time I patronize Cheddar's. The only plus is that the people I dealt with were nice. read more

I've eaten here with my two teens and my elderly father twice in the last three months. Both times, service was painfully slow even though we were not there during peak dining time (approximately 4:30 on a weeknight--you know senior citizens like to eat early!). The servers have always been full of personality, but it also takes the kitchen to make for a good all-around dining experience. Both times, it took about 45 minutes to get our food, and when the food came, one person's meal would be hot, while the rest were just warm, like they'd been sitting for more than a few minutes. Half the fries in today's meals were overcooked and grease-logged, while the other half were cooked well but cold. When your teens criticize the food and barely touch it, you know it's bad. Oh, and both times we found errors in our bill--items we did not order that were only a couple of dollars, but still...what are the odds of having this happen both times? Even the teens agreed that there won't be a next time for Cheddars. read more
