The steak and gorgonzola pizza was perfectly cooked and the gorgonzola was phenomenally savory! Definitely was surprised how good this combo was on a pizza. The food was tasty and well cooked, and the portions were ample to generous. The service was attentive. The establishment makes it clear that there is a mandatory gratuity for groups of six or larger, split checks are not guaranteed for larger groups, and there is a 3% surcharge for credit card transactions. Be mindful of what you order. It can add up quickly. My companion and I wracked up a $200 bill between our drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Free parking is available after 5pm in the Cherry Street Parking Lot.

The chili dogs at Forest Inn remind me of those dogs. This spot is your classic dive bar. Typical characters you'd expect. Old school urinals. Jukebox that you can't play with your Touchtune/AMI app. Tons of Pennsylvania Skill games(more than I've ever seen at one bar) Seemed like a clean place though so no complaints. The real star of the show is the bartender/chef/manager Harry. He is on the ball! Super nice guy too. He has to serve all the patrons plus cook up all the food and keep non-patrons from using the restroom or just hanging out. He does it all with ease and is fun to talk to as well. I've been here twice already and will return for third time shortly. It's is 45 minutes from house so I can't go on a regular basis but they're so good I gotta make a trek there a few times a year. One potential downside is that it's noisy with the TV and radio on (often blasting, and in Spanish). One thing that is sort of interesting, too, is that the common side order is french fries instead of tortilla chips. It's in the middle of the city of Reading, but on a side street away from the main attractions of downtown. On street parking is typically not an issue when we go, around 1PM during the week. We've never had problems with ordering custom-made dishes in English, as most of the dishes are listed in Spanish on the in-store menu--and this is something we really appreciate, as my wife prefers to custom-order for personal reasons (e.g., "without cilantro, onions, and tomatoes"). Great Drinks, Great Dinner and Great Breakfast...!! This past weekend we had drinks, dinner and breakfast at Cheers Bistro and we enjoyed it all. We were in late Saturday afternoon for drinks and Franklin the bartender was awesome, he made us feel welcome and was a pleasure to speak with. We were in Saturday evening for dinner and it too was very good. I had a Cheese Steak with Cheese Wiz and it was very good. My wife had the Cajun Filet Medallions and Truffle Au Gratin Potatoes. The Cajun Filet Medallions had a corn and asparagus relish with balsamic drizzled on top and they were phenomenal. The Au Gratin Potatoes were really good too. Sunday we had the buffet breakfast and it was terrific. It was a large buffet with everything from waffles to turkey and made to order omelettes. The quality of the food was excellent. The staff was very nice and it was very clean. Cheers is much better than the standard hotel bar and restaurant. read more

CHEERS BISTRO - great food and excellent service!!!!!!!!! Stayed overnight at the Doubletree Hotel on May 16/17th during a seminar. We had a party of 21 and Sugar was just fantastic in accommodating us all and keeping us all together! Sugar was a perfect hostess and I appreciate her calling me back to make sure we were 'reserved". Dalton, our waiter, was both accommodating and very friendly. He made sure we all received what we ordered and made many trips "back" to check our drinks and make sure we had what we needed. Dalton was just fantastic! As to the food, everyone agreed - on time,"superb" and well worth what we paid! My compliments to the Chef! Both Sugar and Dalton were just amazing, as well as the check in clerks - a VERY POSITIVE experience! I know Mr. Al Boscov was smiling that night! Great job to all! read more

From the check in to the seating to the food this place is an exceptional restaurant in the heart of Reading in the Double Tree Hilton. The hostess "Sugar" sets a very customer centric "welcome-to-our-house" type style. I had fish and chips which was fresh and hot! Buffalo Chicken hot wings we're good too. Best restaurant! We dined at Cheers four times in the two days we were in Reading and were very pleased with each experience. Breakfast included a buffet and made to order eggs and omelets. Everything was wonderful. We ordered lunch and dinner off the menu. Lunch was a specialty salad and dinner was pasta with seafood in a tomato cream sauce. Both were excellent. Burrata Fritta is a generous sized and tasty fried cheese appetizer but, it only came with two small pieces of crustini so you'll end up eating most of it with a fork. Seared scallops tasted excellent as well but there was only 3 and they were the size of a 50 cent coin and about 3/8 of an inch thick. They were served over a generous bed of seasoned peas but, you are buying the scallops not the peas. Like I mentioned before, food tasted excellent there just could have been a little more thought out into appetizer creation. Entrees we selected were a just satisfying portion size and tasted excellent as well. We usually like to take home some of our main entrees for a later small meal but we ended up eating them both in restaurant. One thing important to note of importance to local diners is that entrees do not come with sides or salads. They must be ordered separately. Portions could have been maybe 8% to 10% bigger. I am not complaining but rather suggesting. I will definitely go back again to try some of the other entrees offered.

I mean I guess it wasn't that long ago, but it feels like a lifetime has passed in between. The bar that night was full of familiar faces. Groups of friends from both Wilson and Wyomissing neighborhoods had been unified with a common aspiration. After nearly two full days of agonizing rain delays, we were all about to witness the Phils bring the city of Philadelphia its first championship in 25 years (since 1983, before so many of us there that night were even born). This isn't Santino's of course, but it's impossible to separate those memories, which is probably the case for many of the folks still coming here who can remember fondly the mingling with family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. I'm glad this remained a restaurant and didn't turn into another spa or something. It's a bit harder to go to a spa and think hey I used to drink Jaegerbombs right over there by the koi pond and speaker playing soothing rainforest sounds. You can tell just by the sequence of naming conventions (from "Santino's" to "Tino's" to finally "State Hill Craft Cocktails & Kitchen") the kind of vibe they're going for here. The "Tino's" era, though brief, proved that you could keep the neighborhood charm and just slightly ratchet up the presentation, especially in the food and bar departments. Over time the menu has shifted from fine-casual Italian to more upscale comfort food, with wagyu meatloaf, lobster mac & cheese, and the always elegant, always dashing meatloaf patty melt. State Hill Craft Cocktails & Kitchen or whatever iteration of dining establishment will be there 15, 20 years from now (Luxe Carwash expansion perhaps) will bring together members of the community that wouldn't ever otherwise cross paths. New friendships will form, and old ones will strengthen. The atmosphere was electric that night in Santino's nearly 20 years ago. Everyone was elated, even people who didn't watch sports were happy because they could see other people were happy. For one night we could push everything else aside, the weight of responsibility and care lifted from our backs. A reminder that joy could be had, and our existences, though flawed, remained full of promise with even better days ahead. This is probably the least helpful review you've ever read LOL

There are also plenty of startup companies that have established there place in the markets; Grandma's, Famous Amos, Mrs. Field and the list goes on and on the fore mentioned brands aren't a bad option and I guest could be considered premium cookies when compared to those prepackaged by elves and the most famous chocolate chip cookies who's mascot was a live-action superhero named Mort Meek, the odds that you haven't eaten these are practically zero. It seems all those cookies incorporated the famous chocolate morsel back in the day and most are created through engineered processes that have been totally automated and requires very little human intervention except of course the FQS departments who conducts the shelf life studies to ensure they can sit in the warehouses and grocery store shelves much longer the the cookies you mom created at home. Well let me reassure you all pre-packaged cookies aren't created equal - Sweet Street has seemed to have found a niche and probably stands alone for the most part at least until the next entrepreneur trumps them. I doubt if most consumers know what goes into the majority of the mechanically engineered cookies we have been eating for decades and although labeling has gotten so much better unless your a chemist you probably don't know what the ingredients are - I love the fact that Sweet Street has explained things - real butter dough - cage free eggs - non GMO's - no artificial additives it seems pretty simple to me and believe me the quality shows, they are big enough to share and are filled with big chunks of sustainable chocolate. The real standout, though, was the Shirley's Fries. Sweet, salty, spicy...they're hands down some of the best fries I've had in a long time. If you go, they're a must-order. Horrible service! I walked in and sat at the bar; I was the only customer they had at the time. I…read morewaited 5-10 minutes to be greeted either by a bartender or wait staff, no one came. A couple workers from the kitchen came out, and they saw me, but never acknowledged me. I ended up leaving without talking to anyone in the restaurant. This is my second time there since the restaurant has had new owners, and this is the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. It was very disappointing.

That being said, our steaks knocked it out of the park. I had the prime rib which was cooked to perfection and so juicy. My husband had the filet mignon and it was so deliciously tender. We decided on the same sides, and the garlic mashed potatoes were super yum! Both entrees also came with a house salad, not anything fancy but fresh and good. We also got some rolls when salad was served. Our waitress was super friendly and talked to us a bit. The wait staff were working together; someone other than our server picked up a salad plate when we were finished so it didn't sit there long. The building is a beautiful old structure that you can just see the history in. Very nicely and subtly decorated. Upscale and high-class, which aren't very common in Berks. We did make a reservation and I'm glad we did; it was packed! We heard the building is for sale so you gotta go now while you still have the chance!!

There was a bigger seating area that I did not take a picture of. There was a-lot to choose from on the menu and everything sounded great. Our food was delicious. We had many different dishes and everything was great. We will definitely be back. We had plenty to take home and we will have enough for two more meals. The restrooms were clean. There is also plenty of parking, also handicapped spots available. No steps. My son and I recommend this restaurant. Check it out. Definitely a winner for us.

Tried this place after 2 yrs hoping for the better NOT…read more. ordered a burger well done on rye and it comes out rare suppose to have cooked onions on it and they were chopped, they couldn't have cooked sliced onions to stay in the sandwich when you picked it up My order was written on the ticket and the cook just didn't read it .. what ?? Fries came with and were the end of the bag as were tiny fried chips ?? I'm just wondering what others are ordering as the place gets full .. maybe only place in W Lawn I guess

Our waitress was very helpful and kind, too. The portions aren't huge for the cost, so just be aware of that. But the quality of the food made the price feel worth it to us. We'll definitely be back for future date nights!
