Cheers is located inside the Double Tree hotel, so it is super convenient. The menu has something for everyone and the staff are friendly and go out of their way to talk to each diner. The food is delicious, and the decor is welcoming.

Overall 84/100 -- was completely dead when we went, get the salmon Went here on a Tuesday night at 8pm and were the only people in the entire restaurant. They lit the fire and turned on the music for us, which was a nice touch. Overall the ambience was very nice and they took care of us. It's rare I order seafood from a landlocked state but the menu was small enough that you either could get steak, seafood, or a wrap. I went with the special of the day which was a flounder with rice pilaf. The flounder was good but the salmon was much better, would only recommend the salmon. The rice pilaf was good as well as the broccolini. The mashed potatoes were fantastic and the roasted vegetables were what you'd expect. Also had the ice cream cheesecake which was odd and wouldn't get again. Bill came out to about 120 for 2 glasses of wine, 2 seafood entrees, and a dessert. Overall, had a great dinner.

I have to give props to Cheers American Bistro in the Reading Doubletree Hilton. They are literally everything! They helped me put together a graduation celebration dinner for my daughter. They assisted me with the menu, provided a lovely space for our party and even accommodated us when the party was larger than originally planned. All while preparing for a prom, another graduation, a wedding and Mother's Day! Karla Smith, the manager, was excellent with communicating with me over the last two months of planning. Our head server, Gia, and the rest of the wait staff, gave us service with a smile and were very affable. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful. It was the perfect evening for my baby! I absolutely couldn't have picked a better place!

The hotel restaurant for the Doubletree. I was there for breakfast and dinner and both were very good. Modern upscale decor and there were table tops, booths and regular tables. Breakfast was a buffet and I believe they had stuff to order from the menu as well. The buffet was pretty good actually. Better than most hotel buffets. Eggs to order as well as the usual bacon, sausage and ham. They also had biscuits and gravy as well as pancakes. Fresh fruit, toast and pastries. The dinner was great too. I had the gnocchi with braised beef and the lobster bisque. Both were delicious. This place is a great option whether you are staying at the hotel or not.

This breakfast buffet continues to be top notch. Made to order omelets and Belgian waffles with loads of toppings, bacon, sausage, oatmeal bar with toppings, fresh fruit, muffins, danishes, assorted juices...it's the bee's knees! Top all that off with great service from the staff (shout out to Grace!) and why would you want to eat breakfast any other place in Reading?

Highly rated hotel restaurant in downtown Readng at the Doubletree. The hotel has won many awards. The restaurant is very bust but the staff moves quickly and the service is excellent. Food is top notch with a diverse menu. Really nice experience. This spot is a winner, both literally and figuratively.

I don't know if it was an off night or what, but I came here after a concert in town as their kitchen was still open at 10:30pm. The best part of my experience was the personable bartender. He was awesome. I ordered a medium rare burger with smoked gouda cheese. The burger came out well done and was not juicy and the patty used didn't seem to be anything special. The bread was OK and the burger was eh all around. It was definitely a 2/3 star burger, not worth the $13. I immediately regretted ordering it after taking a bite and wished I went for the lobster mac they had on the menu instead (15). Where the experience really took a dive was when I asked for a doubleshot of espresso. It was late at this point; perhaps 11pm and I get that they were closing up. One of the servers graciously made me one. When I got the bill, I was charged $10 for the doubleshot of espresso! I've never paid that much for an espresso in my life! Even at the fanciest coffee shops, I think $4 has been the max. I didn't say anything, but damn, I had some sticker shock. Between the not cooked to order average burger and the sticker shock on the espresso, I was disappointed. However, the environment was cool. The music they were playing was good and the bartender was cool. I would definitely order something different if I were to return.

Ultra-modern chic! I've never referred to anything with that particular choice of words, so this is a first, people. But how else could you sum up the atmosphere at Cheer's? After many years of Reading's mayor and other city officials promising to "revitalize" downtown Reading, the DoubleTree by Hilton opened, as well as its integrated in-house restaurant, Cheer's American Bistro. In an absolute prime location across the street from the ever bustling Santander Arena, Cheer's invites guests in for a memorable meal in the heart of one of Pennsylvania's most discordant yet captivating cities. Trying to find a parking space downtown is always an adventure, but luckily guests of the hotel and restaurant alike can take advantage of the DoubleTree Garage right next door. Once, inside, it's a feast for the eyes. And the strangest thing? Even though it exudes this ostentatious - almost pretentious - feel to it, you'll never feel uninvited. Somehow, it retains warmth, sort of like when you go to a fancy dinner party at your one rich friend's house. The food and service matched the simple elegance, all superbly satisfying. Cajun filet medallions started the night and were succulent, tender, and perfectly seasoned, served in a shallow pool of flavorful au jus. The game hen was expertly trimmed and had a gratifying salty crispy skin. My one complaint - the filet medallion risotto. Overly cooked, mushy, and bland. Those poor filet medallions - cooked to hell and lost all of their succulence. All in all, the service was fine, the food was well above average, and the location is an ideal place to start a fun night on the town.

5 star service, 2 star food and menu. During an overnight stay in Reading, we booked in for dinner on a Saturday night. Prior to our meal we attempted to grab a drink at the bar which was packed with a rowdy local crowd. The wait staff completely ignored us so we left after five minutes. For dinner we were seated by the window in comfortable plushy chairs. Very nice romantic lighting and overall ambience. The paper menus that were given to us did not fit the menu prices or the overall atmosphere. Our waiter was outstanding. Very good bread rolls and butter. The drink pours of wine were very generous. However my husband's double gin tasted like less than a single watered down. The menu had been recently changed so many of the items that I've seen on yelp are no longer available. We ended up with the duck appetizer which was basically duck and gravy slopped over french fries with balls of raw cheese on the side. For dinner my husband had the steak and fries. The steak was chewy. I went with the Asian noodle bowl which tasted like something I quickly made at home. Basically scrambled eggs with zucchini and carrots over top the lump of noodles stuck together. I took two bites and couldn't finish is so unappetizing. Everything was extremely salty.

We stopped in for dinner and absolutely loved it. Lex was our server and she was fantastic. Attentive and very hard working, a very kind person. The dinner was Cornell's special. For the life of me, I don't know why it's a special? This should be on the menu every day. It was that good. I would actually come out of my way to come back here if I knew I could get the chicken. THAT GOOD!!!

Great addition to the Reading "Downtown Experience" , Hotel is beautiful, very well run and maintained . The food and service at Cheers was really fantastic . Simple well executed menu and food choices . Service throughout the hotel is great , Cheers service was superb. Decor and bar iss very conducive and located directly across from arena , Food is not over the top and neither are the prices. I enjoyed several visits and recommend it if you are in the area for a ar meal and drinks.Cheers!! read more

We stopped in last night for dinner with friends. It was a wonderful surprise to find several items on the menu that were marked vegan. Four of us are vegan and we all tried a different entree. Every dish was great! And to add to the good experience, our server, Adam, brought out a crabcake for us to try consisting of artichoke hearts and hearts of palm. It was amazing. This item will be available on their menu within a couple of weeks. It was so nice to dine at a location that offers totally animal-free dishes for those of us desiring to eat cruelty-free while preserving our health and at the same time helping to save our planet. We will be back again soon! read more

Ok....first time here, and it's pretty brand new,, I could smell the newness....Love the décor. Simple. Modern. Attached to a brand new Double Tree Hotel in the middle of Reading. Tried the special of sausage and peppers which was good...coming from Philly...something that simple better be good. Only complaint?? Get free-form sausage and cut the sausage to fit the ENTIRE roll....that is a violation... otherwise a tasty treat. Can't speak for the other items on menu...but it was a nice menu...decent choices. I will return in near future to re-assess...want to check their martini pours and other food items. I enjoyed my stay....and check it out. Pretty decent place to be attached to a hotel, which is not always the case. read more

My fiancé and I were staying at the DoubleTree and had the pleasure of having several meals at Cheers. The breakfast was a step above a typical hotel breakfast buffet as there were plenty of options for even the pickiest eater. This southern girl was excited to eat grits every morning! I only wish that there would have been smoked salmon on buffet. :) The full sized salads are enough for two meals. My favorite was a spinach bacon salad, which I added blackened chicken on. The salad dressing was delicious! My fiancé loved the salmon sandwich, as it came with a healthy portion of fish. If we ever find ourselves back in Reading, we will definitely be coming back. read more

Epic fail. After waiting 30 mins to be seated and 30 mins to get a glass of water we placed our order. 1 hour after we ordered we walked out because we did not get our food. . 2 hours waiting we were served a single glass of water. read more

This restaurant is stunning. It (as well as the hotel where it is located) is chic, stylish, and beautifully decorated. The food is good and reasonably priced for the quality. It's not typical hotel-restaurant food. There are many interesting and fresh items on the menu. I have been here a few different times and my favorite so far has been the crab sandwich. The fries are great too! The only reason that my review is not five stars is that there have been a few issues with service on a number of visits. The service is always very friendly and warm, but a few times way too slow in bringing out food and drinks. One time I waited almost an hour for a drink. I'll attribute this to opening growing pains and will certainly visit again. Hopefully they can work out those issues so I can update my review to 5 stars. This is a great place for a date night, girls night out, or dinner or drinks before and after an event downtown. read more

This place is the best thing to come to Berks County in a long time!! I have been here many times and have never left disappointed. The staff are incredible. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and to let you know they appreciate your business. The atmosphere is incredible... Very modern and classy. Last night, we had the most passionate and upbeat server, Nick. He introduced us to the doubletree cookie which was hands down the BEST thing in the world!! FOOD POISONING - My friend and I were attending a music festival there, upon arrival we shared the seared ahi tuna and 7 hours later we were both ill, vomiting, chills etc. within a minute of each other. That is not the worst of it, after reporting to the GM Eric J Brown, we were treated as if we were dishonest. After numerous calls and emails, I was told there would be no more correspondence. This is customer service? I am a Hilton Honors member, this is disgraceful. Shame on you Doubletree! read more

Great customer service should be recognized and appreciated, which is why I am giving 5 stars. There was an issue with my drink, no problem, fixed... A minor issue with my food, once again, fixed. I am horrible with names, but I do know that despite the hiccups, I had a great time, the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. The staff all assist in giving you a great experience. I was here on a work trip this past week. After a hockey game across the street we went back to the hotel bar for a couple of drinks. The staff is incredible. We had met the GM of the Doubletree earlier in the evening and he said that the Bistro was good and the breakfast was amazing. He wasn't joking! The staff quickly remembered my name and even when we ordered a really late night pizza from some place else, they brought it over for us and called me by name. You don't get service like that in very many places. The breakfast was also amazing!!! And as expected, the service was too! read more

So surprising to find such a fantastic spot in downtown Reading. Swanky decor without being too formal and seriously great food. We ordered the specials (lobster-stuffed pasta in cream sauce and grilled shrimp over Caesar salad) - big yum. Didn't love the Honey Sriacha Bacon wings, tho - they *were* crispy & big but that sauce was a little too... something for us. But then, the Frickles? umm, life-changing! Totally worth searching for this hidden gem. read more

We stayed at the Doubletree for a wedding and enjoyed lunch and then the breakfast buffet the following day here. I have some dietary restrictions and the staff were well informed on the ingredients in the food and very accommodating to find things for me to eat. The options were slightly limited, but it was probably one of the least stressful dining experiences I've had in a while and the food was delicious! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to kill some time and have some drinks before my bus home. Inside the Double Tree (which the bartender said is ranked number in the world) it was very spacious, clean and not overly loud despite plenty of large TVs. There was only one other patron at the bar area but the actual restaurant seem fairly busy. The bartender was friendly and although I only had beers (their draft selection could use some work), the cocktails she was making looked impressive, especially one that featured an orchid inside an ice ball. read more

Went there for my wife birthday. We had 7:00 pm reservations on a Sunday evening. The only table was a bar height table and hostess basically told us that was our only choice. Nice menu and good service. We ordered frickles as an appetizer, but they were served long after the salads, not what I am used to. I had the duck which was presented in a way that made it look like two thighs. After saying something to the manager, they redid it and told me what I had originally gotten was a thigh and a breast just cut up for presentation. Having eaten part of it, I was not so sure. They handled it well and comped my wife dessert for her birthday. I would give it another try because they responded well to our questions. As far as I am concerned, that is half the battle. read more

Had lunch here yesterday. Service was very fast and attentive. Had a chicken curry salad. Exceeded my expectations. Will defiantly be going back often. If your in downtown Reading for a show at the performing arts or concert/game at the arena, this is a must for dinner. Walking distance to the local parking decks as well. read more

My compliments to the CHEF. Wings were fantastic and the philly cheese steak was phenomenal ... wY better than what I expected and I expected good food!!! Nice atmosphere and the chef doesn't f around ... nice work ... I know where to go in a reading PA if I need a good philly cheese read more

I have to share. Passing through required me to stay a Reading's newest hotel. The Hilton Double Tree. In it they have this place. Talk about high quality priced right. Decor awesome, tasteful, modern, as is the bar menu. Made a refreshing change to experience fine dining and not be ripped off. Ambience, vibrant. Staff, engaging, excited, and above all customer focused. Bar selection is excellent. Cleans and pristine. Special mention to Casha, and Christina who made my evening due to their excellent service. read more

My husband ordered the big mess, which was a mixture of eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers, cheese, and he added in hot beef Italian sausage. It came with toast. That dish was huge! He really enjoyed it because he cleaned his plate. My dish also was wonderful. I loved the cheesy home fries paired up with the eggs to sop up the yolk. We did notice that they do a lot of food delivery business, with at least six people waiting to pick up food at any given time. By the time we left, the place was almost full. If we lived in Reading, we would frequent Marvel Ranch all the time. The food was great, the service was wonderful, the prices were reasonable, and the people were friendly. Great Drinks, Great Dinner and Great Breakfast...!! This past weekend we had drinks, dinner and breakfast at Cheers Bistro and we enjoyed it all. We were in late Saturday afternoon for drinks and Franklin the bartender was awesome, he made us feel welcome and was a pleasure to speak with. We were in Saturday evening for dinner and it too was very good. I had a Cheese Steak with Cheese Wiz and it was very good. My wife had the Cajun Filet Medallions and Truffle Au Gratin Potatoes. The Cajun Filet Medallions had a corn and asparagus relish with balsamic drizzled on top and they were phenomenal. The Au Gratin Potatoes were really good too. Sunday we had the buffet breakfast and it was terrific. It was a large buffet with everything from waffles to turkey and made to order omelettes. The quality of the food was excellent. CHEERS BISTRO - great food and excellent service!!!!!!!!! Stayed overnight at the Doubletree Hotel on May 16/17th during a seminar. We had a party of 21 and Sugar was just fantastic in accommodating us all and keeping us all together! Sugar was a perfect hostess and I appreciate her calling me back to make sure we were 'reserved". Dalton, our waiter, was both accommodating and very friendly. He made sure we all received what we ordered and made many trips "back" to check our drinks and make sure we had what we needed. Dalton was just fantastic! As to the food, everyone agreed - on time,"superb" and well worth what we paid! My compliments to the Chef! The hostess "Sugar" sets a very customer centric "welcome-to-our-house" type style. I had fish and chips which was fresh and hot! Buffalo Chicken hot wings we're good too. Best restaurant! We dined at Cheers four times in the two days we were in Reading and were very pleased with each experience. Breakfast included a buffet and made to order eggs and omelets. Everything was wonderful. We ordered lunch and dinner off the menu. Lunch was a specialty salad and dinner was pasta with seafood in a tomato cream sauce. Both were excellent.
