This particular night we stopped in to get a drink really quick and they just happened to have a band playing. The wait to get a drink was pretty slow. Even the wait staff were having to wait a long time to serve patrons. Luckily, I was able to bypass the waitstaff (who I originally gave my order to) and just get my drink directly from the bartender. She was a very sweet woman named Aaliyah and she made a mean Old Fashioned, it even had the fancy square cube in it. Cheers is the best bar downtown. I've been in the area for 45 years and this is the only bar I've ever really enjoyed my time in. Karaoke is always fun and bands are cool on Fridays and Saturday. There's also no fights or drugs at Cheers and everyone is very welcoming. Lisa, Paul and Matty always make me feel like I'm at home when visiting. read more

Last night, my wife, another couple, and I decided to check out Cheers Bar--because what could be more welcoming than a place named Cheers? Spoiler: everything is more welcoming. I showed up in a tank top--because it was 95 degrees outside and I don't particularly enjoy marinating in my own sweat. The doorman informed me, with all the solemnity of a Supreme Court justice, that "the owner doesn't let men in wearing tank tops." Meanwhile, women in tank tops were welcomed inside like returning royalty. Apparently, sleeves are optional for women but mandatory for men--so if you're a guy, be sure to hide those scandalous shoulders. You know, to preserve the delicate moral fabric of a bar full of people pounding Fireball shots. We ended up taking our business somewhere less interested in policing men's upper arms and more interested in serving drinks. Pro tip: If your dress code is based on gender instead of decency, maybe you need less of a policy and more of a clue. If you enjoy arbitrary rules and a dash of old-fashioned double standards with your beer, this is the place for you. Otherwise, there are plenty of better bars in Vacaville--where everyone can wear what they want without a dress code stuck in 1953. read more

It is a cool little spot. Me and a friend hit it for something different. People were nice, bartender was nice. She just got married so we talked to her about that. Kind of weird that the men's bathroom doesn't lock even though there's a two holer. Can't imagine what that is like at night when it's busy, but whatever. They must have a reason. I hear they do karaoke some nights and get a crowd. I bet it's a bitch getting out of there at night.... Small town, cops, etc. good luck with that! read more

Hubby and I stopped in for a drink on a Monday. We were surprised that they had HH at 630pm and they used REAL espresso in their espressotini. Amy our bartender, is so friendly and full of life! We're locals so we when we are kid free,we like to be spontaneous. We are definitely pleased with this decision and we had a great experience! read more

This place is always my LAST resort on any given Friday/Saturday. The owner is an absolute crook! DO NOT run a tab using your card! Pay attention! Your bill will be padded. Pay for drinks one at a time and keep track. It's happened to me more than once. I've been overcharged at least 3 times that I remember . The drinks are ridiculously overpriced, especially bottled beer.... Atmosphere is mediocre at best . It's was great when it was new...20+ years ago. It needs a makeover . What a shitty venue with double standards. They have a posted dress code of no wife beaters on friday and Saturday . They kicked me out for wearing a designer tank top while 2 of the waitresses were wearing tank tops. After asking the owner lisa about the double standards st proceeded to flip me the bird. A real pub atmosphere, not really a dive but more of a local, friendly place where everyone fits in nicely! They were watching a zombie show together and a fire dancer started twirling her hoop out front! Cool place for nerds and older people, too! Wish it weren't so cold inside! I've been coming here on and off for 20 years. The regulars that go to Cheers mostly all know each other and it's not so much about popularity here, but people who have made friends and shared memories throughout the years that keep coming back to see each other and share some drinks. It's not uncommon to see the owner playing dice with customers and I even remember seeing Papa Roach play here in their early days as well as a ton of other bands over the years when not much was going on in Vacaville for live music. I met someone here that I dated for many many years and have a lot of precious memories with. When that same person passed away, this was the obvious place to gather and about 20 or so of us came here and celebrated her life. I know the staff, the doormen, the owner and her daughter and of course the guy everyone knows and loves, Matty. There are a lot of crazy and beautiful stories hidden in this unsuspecting bar that have continued through the years and it's the friendships I've made with so many, that keeps someone like myself coming back. read more

Only went to this bar because a really good friend of mine was playing here with his band. I came to support them and watch the show but the bar itself was eh. Drinks weren't the greatest and seemed overpriced for the quality. One bartender was really nice and sweet while the other was more preoccupied with her current customers at the bar and not new ones coming up. My fiancé and I each had a drink and weren't really satisfied. Overall I don't think this is a place that I would come hang out at again. read more

Interesting little place that I won't ever go to again, not for minorities as the regulars mock those with different accents and races & it's tolerated by the bartender because she's laughing along... I even heard a regular say he wanted to punch a patron, a patron who was Asian and not even in his immediate area, he just wanted to assault him just because. Again the young bartender was so rude about everything just to appease her 3 regular drunks at the bar when little did she know that many of us have friends who frequent this area and are military and I for one have told them to never come to this place. I explained to a male employee (on 12/13/09 @ approx. 11:10 am pacific time - this description is obviously for the venue owner to possibly identify this employee) that I inadvertently left my CC there several weeks ago and I then asked him to discard it. His response was as follows, verbatum, not paraphrased, "If I find it, I will toss it." Then he proceeded to immediately disconnect the line without giving me a chance to react. Unless of course this is par for the course, I find this to be unacceptable and by no means alleviates my concern around future fraudulent charges. I will revise my 1 star rating if there is overwhelming public opinion to the contrary. Cancelled my CC. Unbelievable! I grew up in VV my entire life and never once visited Cheers until recently (I am now 27) and I had a decent time. I expected to revisit as frequently as possible to the extent that I was back home at my parents', but I am vehemently opposed now. I'm going to comment on one thing: coffee....I was there Sat night 12/27/14 listening to my friends band play. I came from Sacramento by myself....I don't drink, so I ordered coffee $2. EACH cup of NestCafe INSTANT coffee, yes, you heard it right, instant coffee! REALLY?? Most bars make real coffee and they don't charge for refills. It's a curtesy for the customer because they usually are designated drivers for others that are drinking or people sobering up. The owner here is nothing less than CHEAP, I will never return. read more

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I had to meet my brother half way between the Bay Area and Sacramento to entertain a family member visiting from overseas. My younger brother chose this freakin' place and what a disaster! I read the reviews which was poor but decided to give them a chance(WHAT A MISTAKE). An Asian lady who probably was the bar owner I guess appeared drunk and started moving my wallet and stuff around acting like she is busing my bar table without a permission. I told her to stop that I do not know who she is and she should'nt be touching my stuff without proper communication. Guess what?? all hell broke loose and she was yelling out loud and embarrassingly. "CALL THE COPS!! GET YOUR ASS OUT!!! ......we were all like SERIOUSLY???.... She called the bouncer to kick us out and guess what?? they whispered to us that "she is CRAZY" and apologized on her drunken behalf. I simply asked for my check, paid, left a tip for the waitress, left and NEVER EVER to return here. Folks, please take reviews seriously...... we are all true and everyday people. this is NOT a place to be the crowd is also not the type you really want to be around. I don't have too much to say about this place. If you are looking for a live band in downtown Vacaville this is the place. The bands may not be top quality or even the quality you get at STARS but it will do donkey, it will do. Typically younger crowd. This place reminds me of a dive bar in a more metropolitan city. Has a little of that feel to it. Not a bad change of pace for the scene downtown. This is easily the worst bar in Vacaville. The bouncer is a complete asshole. I have never been treated shittier. I don't know where you have to fail at life to become a bouncer at a bar in Vacaville, but this dude needs to stop taking it out on the clientele. Bouncer; I know that you're frustrated that life didn't turn out the way you hoped it would and that it must anger you to watch people vastly more successful than you have a good time out, but you can't just act like a dick to the people that pay your minimum wage paychecks.
